Chapter 181 Defensive Outpost

Li Ke only discovered the letter Niu Dazhuang had delivered when it was almost dark. The guy also used a remote-controlled drone, but he was more open about it; the drone was parked outside the wall with the speaker on, constantly shouting, "Your letter is here! Your letter is here!"

Li Ke shot down the small plane again, leaving it to fall outside the wall without paying any attention. Instead, he carefully observed the surrounding situation. Upon seeing Niu Dazhuang, he also aimed his cannon at him.

Niu Dazhuang was also looking at the wall with binoculars, waiting for someone to come out and take the letter in, when he discovered that the cannon was pointed at him. He cursed under his breath and turned around to order his men to drive away quickly. He was speechless that he had to be shot at just to deliver a message.

Niu Dazhuang had shaved his beard, and Li Ke didn't recognize him as the bearded man. He thought it was the same group of people. This time, they were quite well-behaved and stayed right at the warning sign. Li Ke moved the cannon to scare them away.

After it was completely dark, Li Ke went outside, covered the drone with a black cloth as usual, smashed it to pieces, and then opened the letter it had brought.

The letter detailed the discovery of an unexplained illness among the group building the new base, and also indicated that they were natives of the town at the foot of the mountain, and not part of the group working below her base.

They also voluntarily revealed the mysterious boss who possessed a lot of resources, and told him that the boss was developing a drug called a miracle drug that could make people stronger. However, they felt that the boss's behavior did not seem like that of a good person.

Li Ke knew all of this, so it seemed that the boss was quite mysterious. The prisoners in District 1 had captured all the bandits, but they hadn't gotten any more information.

The letter also stated that if Li Ke was a righteous, friendly, and peace-loving party, then they could act as allies, helping each other to restrain this boss with unclear motives.

Li Ke didn't understand why the boss was so insistent on building an underground base in this area, but with such a neighbor down there, Li Ke definitely had to be careful at all times.

Moreover, judging from the information revealed in the letter, although the towns below did not get along well with the boss and his group, they temporarily chose to coexist peacefully with them in order to obtain supplies.

In this way, it would be somewhat lonely for Li Ke to remain alone in one place. She put the letter away, feeling that she should also make some plans.

Sitting on the wall, looking at the two places below, Li Ke pondered for a while. She felt that she also needed to support some people to form her second wall, and it would be best to cultivate a reliable person to act as her mouthpiece to the outside world.

Li Ke's consistent style is to do whatever comes to mind. Since she had decided to take in others, Li Ke walked out of the wall and went down three miles. There was a village with scattered houses there. Li Ke planned to build a new stronghold here as another wall for her.

After selecting the location, Li Ke released an excavator from her spatial storage and began digging a tunnel based on the terrain. She didn't need to dig too much; she only dug one row of tunnels, and after setting up the roof, she placed twenty shipping containers inside.

After digging the left side, Li Ke continued digging the right side the following night, placing twenty containers there as well. Together, they could temporarily accommodate eight hundred to one thousand people.

Of course, the cave containers are only temporary accommodations. The real underground dwellings will need to be created by these people after they arrive. Li Ke will provide them with food and water, on the condition that they keep a safe distance from her and follow her instructions to do some things she asks them to do.

After building the temporary cave dwelling, Li Ke found a place outside his own wall and began digging an underground storage room.

This storage room needs to be built larger. In the future, the supplies, vehicles, and other items that she might need for those people will be placed in this storage room for transfer and delivery. In Li Ke's plan, no outsiders are allowed to enter within ten meters outside her wall or inside the wall.

Li Ke worked diligently for over a week, following her own plan, and no one bothered her during that time.

But Li Ke was not at ease. If the people down the mountain knew about her prediction, they should know how to prevent the zombie virus and how to isolate the infection. But it seems that the situation has not improved effectively.

Screams could still be heard from the foot of the mountain from time to time. Li Ke would sometimes stop his work and run down the mountain to check on the situation at the boss's stronghold and the town where Song Xian was. Clearly, there were zombie virus patients on both sides, and the number was increasing.

The letter sent to Li Ke from the town below indicated that someone had taken the patients to report to the mysterious boss, and Qiu Feng, the town's leader, had also gone down the mountain to the city's refugee center to inquire about the situation.

Given the status of that boss and the manager of the city's shelter, they should both be aware of the doomsday prophecy and know about the zombie virus, but clearly, no useful information has been sent back yet.

Li Ke has done what she needed to do. She won't be the one to stick her neck out again at this time, drawing attention back to herself.

After Li Ke completed the underground storage room, the situation at the foot of the mountain did not improve. However, she noticed that cars would come down the mountain at night and cars would come up the mountain. They were still constantly dropping off and picking up people.

Those who were sent away were all patients, and the people brought in continued to work. If they got infected, they would be sent away again. Li Ke didn't know where they were sent, and she didn't track them down.

Two nights later, Li Ke ran down to the town at the foot of the mountain and found Song Xian. The people in the town now all lived underground. Li Ke had scouted the area several times in advance in order to find Song Xian.
