Chapter 190 Processing Methods

The group exchanged glances, and Qiu Feng instructed, "Wake up the brothers. Except for those who stay behind to keep watch, everyone else come over. Take those people to the outpost up there that's been shut down. We'll have to work overtime tonight."

Niu Dazhuang led his men down to make the arrangements, and Song Xian waited a moment before whispering, "Shouldn't we also check and disinfect the places where those people stayed?"

Qiu Feng: "You're absolutely right."

He beckoned to one of his men and instructed him to have their rooms thoroughly disinfected after the people were moved, every three days for half a month, and for three months no one should live in or store anything in those rooms.

The refugees who had escaped had just lain down to rest and were drifting off to sleep when they were suddenly woken up by loud noises. After the initial shock, they became somewhat resentful.

"What are you doing here? Isn't this a government-run relief point? What are you trying to do by pointing guns at us?" someone asked.

Niu Dazhuang and his men had wrapped themselves up tightly, each carrying a bag of lime powder in their waist pouch. Niu Dazhuang yelled at them, "Who said this is a relief point? Some of you shouldn't play dumb. Cooperate a little and everyone will have a easier time. We're letting you out to check if there are any troublemakers among you. If there are no problems after the check, and we can take you in, we will naturally take you in."

"You're trampling on human rights! If you don't want to help us, just let us go. Why are you playing us like this? You said at dinner last night that you would let us rest for a few days, but only a few hours later, you've changed your tune. How can we trust you now?" someone protested.

Niu Dazhuang glanced at the speaker, and although the speaker was somewhat evasive, Niu Dazhuang's sharp eyesight allowed him to accurately spot him.

Niu Dazhuang said coldly, "We're not letting you go because we have to be responsible for our own people. If we find you to be innocent after the investigation, you can leave or stay as you please. Who cares about your food and drink! Get out of here and get on the bus now. If anyone dares to say another word, I'll let them taste the power of this weapon in my hand."

Although there were still whispers among the crowd, those standing at the front had already begun to walk out along the path guarded by Niu Dazhuang and his men.

The two siblings who had been supporting each other at the innermost part exchanged a glance. Their expressions showed a hint of tension and anxiety at the sudden situation, but they kept their heads slightly lowered, so no one noticed these subtle changes in their expressions.

The younger sister nudged her older brother with her fingers hidden in her sleeve. The older brother shifted his body slightly, and the younger sister leaned weakly against him. Hidden in this movement, the younger sister took out a small Coke bottle from her clothes and poured some water onto the mattress on the bed next to her.

Once they were out of the ground, the people boarded the vehicle under the escort of Niu Dazhuang and others. Song Xian kept observing them, and when he spotted the brother and sister supporting each other, his gaze was drawn to them again.

The brother and sister walked at the back, and Song Xian followed their backs for a while. The road was brightly lit, and Song Xian quickly noticed a dark mark on the path they had walked on. He went over and saw under the light that it was a small patch of water.

Niu Dazhuang also came over and asked him, "What's wrong?"

Song Xian grabbed a handful of lime powder from his body and covered the watermark. Niu Dazhuang said with some admiration, "Brother, you are really meticulous and cautious in your work."

"It was just a casual thing to do, and you definitely have to be extra careful with things like this." Song Xian wasn't sure if the water stains were left by the brother and sister, so he didn't say much. But he believed that Niu Dazhuang would be even more careful after seeing his actions.

The two siblings sitting on the truck also took in Song Xian's behavior. The man lowered his head even further, while the woman clenched her hands angrily. The man put his arm around the woman and turned her around, implying that she should not show her emotions too much.

Song Xian didn't return to the mountain until dawn. When Li Ke came out to see him, he relayed Qiu Feng's handling of the situation to Li Ke.

Qiu Feng isolated people directly at the deserted intermediate base. The patients were still isolated first, but all the normal people, men and women, were separated. Everyone had to take off their clothes and walk through a cement pool. All their clothes and personal belongings had to be buried in lime powder for three days, and then disinfected again. Only after there were no problems would they be returned to them.

During this time, these people will just stay naked for now. Anyway, it's not cold in the underground dwellings, and there are simple bedding on the beds. They don't have any extra clothes to provide for these people. The lack of clothing will keep them a little more docile.

Of course, this was only the first step in Qiu Feng's investigation of these people. Sure enough, more than twenty infected people were found mixed in among these healthy people. Qiu Feng ordered that these twenty-odd people be locked up directly without being given food or water.

They would question the others separately, then compare and verify their statements. If any problems were found, they would rather kill the innocent than let the guilty go free, and would interrogate them thoroughly.

When Song Xian returned, Qiu Feng had only interrogated twenty people and hadn't found any problems yet, so he came back first.

After listening to Song Xian's detailed reply, Li Ke felt that Qiu Feng's handling of the situation was quite good. She thought that she herself might not have been able to do it so thoroughly. She told Song Xian, who had been working hard all night, to go back and rest first, and to notify her if there was any news from Qiu Feng.

Li Ke returned to the wall and surveyed the area around her stronghold. Previously, she had been focusing on the entrance at the foot of the mountain, but now a group of people suddenly appeared from the mountain and approached her wall, and Li Ke's sense of crisis rose again.
