Chapter 191 Lin Shuang

During the confiscation of personal belongings, two 200-liter water bottles were found on the brother and sister. This was not unusual, as people fleeing from danger would usually acquire containers to store water.

Niu Dazhuang only became interested in the two small bottles of water because of Song Xian's previous actions. Others handed over various water bottles among their personal belongings, but it was rare to see two as small as these two brothers.

Moreover, the younger sister was clearly a bit impatient. The moment the water bottle was taken away, Niu Dazhuang clearly saw her sudden nervous expression and her small movements as she tried to get the bottle back.

Although her older brother quickly wrapped his arms around her and covered her up, Niu Dazhuang had always been quite confident in his eyesight.

He had all the collected liquids sealed and stored separately, while he took the two small bottles of water to the medical station. Last time, the station received support from the mountain, which provided many basic and necessary facilities, and he wanted the doctor to check if there was anything wrong with the water.

After the disaster victims arrived, they were provided with drinking water. When others saw their belongings being taken away, their main reactions were dissatisfaction and heartache. The woman's nervousness and slightly uncontrollable urgency were somewhat unusual.

Seeing Niu Dazhuang's serious demeanor, the doctor dared not be negligent and took some samples to observe them under a microscope.

"This stuff doesn't seem like plain water; it's very active..." the doctor said as he observed it.

However, its structure is not much different from that of water. The doctor observed it carefully for a while before sitting up straight and saying, "The conditions here are not good enough to observe it with greater precision. I will use it to do some chemical experiments to see the reaction. But before this thing is identified, you should keep it carefully and not leak it."

Niu Dazhuang asked, "How long will it take to get the results?"

The doctor hesitated and said, "It's missing something, I'm just trying, there's no guarantee it will work."

Niu Dazhuang stood there for a while, then spoke again: "What will happen if a person drinks it?"

The doctor paused for a moment before saying, "There shouldn't be any problem. All I can see is that it's somewhat different from water; I haven't seen any harmful microorganisms. Besides, this isn't my specialty, so there are many things I don't know much about."

Niu Dazhuang retorted, "You've been here for so long, haven't you noticed if we have any talent in this area? Didn't we give you a recruitment quota so you could develop your own skills?"

The doctor complained, "If people were truly capable, they wouldn't be in this situation. You did give me a number of openings, but I just couldn't find the right people. There are plenty of people trying to fool me."

I think we don't have enough people here, so our choices are limited. You should look in the city shelters down below; they have a larger population, and there are bound to be many talented people there.”

Niu Dazhuang collected all the water and sealed the container: "Then you shouldn't experiment anymore, so as not to waste it. Let's wait until we find someone talented before taking it out to see."

Qiu Feng took a small bottle from his subordinate. The bottle contained about half a bottle of water. When the woman saw the bottle of water, she couldn't help but show a hint of nervousness.

Qiu Feng asked, "What's in here? Our people have already studied it; it's not water."

The woman looked at Qiu Feng, unsure whether he was telling the truth or bluffing her, and didn't reply for a moment. Qiu Feng had been observing the woman the whole time, and how could such a reaction not be suspicious?

"Where did you come from? What's your purpose? If you don't want to suffer, you'd better explain yourself clearly now, or don't blame us for being ruthless!" Qiu Feng asked in a cold voice.

The woman stubbornly refused to admit it: "We are just refugees fleeing from disaster. I don't know what your purpose is. That stuff is just water. You are simply framing us. Now I know, you are not soldiers at all, but just a bunch of hypocritical, despicable bandits, shameless villains!"

Qiu Feng stopped asking her questions and said to his subordinates, "Pour this bottle of water down her throat, then separate her and her mute brother and hang them outside. If they don't tell the truth, dry them into dried corpses and then seal them with cement."

After saying that, Qiu Feng walked outside. The woman then cried out in fear, "You can't do this to me! I didn't do anything! Come back here, you bunch of bastards!"

Qiu Feng didn't turn his head. His men had already opened the cell door and were approaching the woman with the half-empty bottle of water. The woman's face was full of resistance and panic: "I'm not thirsty, I don't want to drink water right now—"

The woman screamed and tried to run away, but was quickly restrained by having her arms tied behind her back. Seeing the water bottle getting closer and closer, she suddenly cried out, unable to bear it any longer, "I'll talk! I'll tell you everything! I don't want to drink this!"

Niu Dazhuang stepped out of the shadows: "You and your fake brother are really on the same wavelength. You've both chosen to confess now. I just don't know who knows more, or whose confession is more honest?"

The woman glared at Niu Dazhuang, her eyes filled with doubt and resentment, but after a few breaths of thought, she lowered her head.

Meanwhile, Qiu Feng returned to the town and underwent full-body disinfection. He had barely sat down when a subordinate ran in: "Brother, Lin Shuang is back. She came back alone and is right outside the door."

Qiu Feng looked up when he heard this. He wasn't surprised, but he felt more tired. These kids had grown up and started playing tricks on him. He wasn't a soft-hearted person who would let them play tricks on him time and time again.

"Bring her in," Qiu Feng ordered after a moment's thought.
