This is an independent female protagonist story. It involves rebirth, spatial abilities, hoarding supplies, post-apocalyptic survival, and occasional team-ups.
Disasters include earthquakes, ...
Chen Niansheng never imagined that he would see his wife and daughter again in his lifetime. In his heart, he truly believed that the mother and her two children had already perished abroad.
Since their supplies were stolen, the N City shelter has changed hands several times. In the end, some left and others dispersed, leaving only him and his sister struggling to survive. Their lives were incredibly miserable!
Seeing his wife and daughter standing before him, healthy and unharmed, with little change in appearance, Chen Niansheng was naturally overjoyed and thrilled.
Chen Ziyue was equally happy. She and her brother had been working at a breakneck pace every day, but now that her sister-in-law and niece had appeared, and they looked quite well, she figured they could finally relax a bit.
Compared to the joy of the two, Li Zhenzhen appeared somewhat polite and distant. Chen Jiaojiao also cried for a while, but soon all she could hear was her father excitedly reciting the good news.
Li Zhenzhen found them a new one-bedroom apartment. Although it wasn't particularly spacious, it was a world of difference compared to the large dormitory they used to live in.
Chen Niansheng and Chen Ziyue happily took leave and then left with Li Zhenzhen and her daughter. When they saw the one-bedroom apartment, their smiles didn't fade.
As they looked around, Chen Ziyue's face changed color, and Chen Niansheng slowly came to his senses. The house looked empty, with no belongings or traces of his wife and daughter.
Standing in the room, Chen Niansheng asked with slight confusion, "Zhenzhen, where are you staying? Is the place too small for four people?"
Chen Ziyue was tired from walking, so she found a small chair, leaned against the wall, and slowly sat down. Although the smile on her face had faded a lot, her expression was still gentle.
Chen Jiaojiao was at a loss. She thought about it for a long time but couldn't figure out what to do. Judging from her mother's expression, she had no intention of bringing her father and aunt to live in the central area.
Chen Jiaojiao didn't want to either. If her father and the others were still as healthy as they were five or six years ago, Chen Jiaojiao wouldn't think there was anything wrong with living together.
But now, they are just two elderly people with hunched backs, whose legs hurt from walking too much. If they really go to the city center, they will definitely need someone to take care of them.
Given her mother's cautious nature, she certainly wouldn't hire anyone, so the responsibility of taking care of the two of them would definitely fall on her, which Chen Jiaojiao was extremely unwilling to do.
Since Mo Bao'er was kidnapped last time, Chen Jiaojiao has returned. Although she moved to the central district with her mother, she can no longer rekindle their old relationships or find herself a decent job.
The Mo family had given the order that if she really wanted to do something, she would have to go to another district and find it herself. Upon hearing this, Chen Jiaojiao naturally wouldn't go out and cause herself any trouble.
Li Zhenzhen instructed Jiaojiao, "Don't just stand there, bring a chair over for your father so he can sit down too."
The house was really small, with only two old chairs. Chen Ziyue and Chen Niansheng sat on them, so the mother and daughter had to stand.
The four of them went back to the bedroom and sat down again. Chen Niansheng and Li Zhenzhen sat together on the edge of the bed, while Chen Ziyue and Chen Jiaojiao, the aunt and niece, sat in chairs.
“We don’t live here; we live in another district. Currently, given Jiaojiao’s and my circumstances, this is the only place we can arrange for you to stay. We’re really sorry to have to make do with this,” Li Zhenzhen said apologetically to Chen Niansheng.
Chen Niansheng had suffered a lot, and he would be very happy if life could be a little better. Moreover, he did not know the specifics of how Li Zhenzhen and her daughter were doing.
Thinking of how the mother and daughter were now relying on each other for survival, he said with great consideration, "How are you doing in the other district? We are very content to have a place to live now, but it makes me feel bad that we are a burden to you and your daughter."
After speaking, Chen Niansheng reached out to take his wife's hand, but Li Zhenzhen turned to Chen Jiaojiao and suddenly instructed her, "Jiaojiao, go to the supplies department to exchange some daily necessities for your father and aunt. We need to set up another small bed in the living room, and also prepare a set of equipment for boiling water and cooking. Go and check on the preparations first, and we'll figure out a way if we don't have enough."
Chen Jiaojiao stood up very sensibly: "I'll go take a look now, you guys sit down and chat for a while."
She was also uncomfortable sitting here and didn't know what to say. Now that her mother had taken her out of the room, Chen Jiaojiao was naturally overjoyed.
When only the three of them remained, the atmosphere became noticeably quieter. By this point, what was there that Chen Niansheng didn't understand? Zhenzhen had clearly been avoiding him.
Tears welled up in Li Zhenzhen's eyes as she turned her head to ask Chen Niansheng, "Did your family ever look for us, mother and son, back then?"
Chen Niansheng was stunned for a moment. He thought they would never come back. Later, the shelter said that they could use radio to search for people, and he also compiled a list to try to find them. But then Zheng Fang became pregnant.
He was overjoyed by the good news and then had to find a way to persuade his mother, so he temporarily put aside the search for the missing person.
Seeing Chen Niansheng's expression, Li Zhenzhen understood everything, which gave her more confidence.
Chen Ziyue chimed in, "Why didn't we look for you? It's just that communication was cut off at first, and you were all abroad at the time, so we couldn't find you even if we wanted to. Later, our family went through a lot of trouble to get into a shelter and tried to inquire, but you know how chaotic the situation was, so naturally we couldn't get any news about you."
We heard that the tsunami abroad was much more severe than in China. After we found you, we naturally thought you were gone. You don't know how heartbroken and tearful our family was during that time, just thinking about you brought tears to our eyes.
As she spoke, Chen Ziyue also wiped away her tears. She composed herself a little and asked, "Speaking of which, we still don't know how your sister-in-law and children got back. If we had known you were back in China earlier, our family would have been reunited much sooner."
