Chapter 315 Battle

Perhaps because he had gone through thick and thin with Li Jia, Yan Bo treated Niu Dazhuang fairly politely, even though the guy was very uncooperative.

Niu Dazhuang, who was disarmed, was also very angry. He had brought eighty people with him this time, but only thirty of them were truly skilled. The rest were still in training. He definitely couldn't afford to fight Yan Bo's two hundred elite men head-on.

Niu Dazhuang wasn't too worried about being separated from his men, because he was the only one who knew the reason for their departure; the others only knew that he had led them out to search for someone.

At this moment, Niu Dazhuang was angrily shouting at Yan Bo: "Why did you confiscate our weapons? We haven't committed any crimes. The freedom to use our weapons for self-defense has long been permitted."

Yan Bo, unable to bear it any longer, slammed his hand on the table: "Stop yelling. Just cooperate with us a bit. If you really want to rescue Li Jia, as you say, then tell us how you plan to do it. What made you think you found this path to look for him?"

Niu Dazhuang chuckled twice and said shamelessly, "It's a feeling."

Yan Bo blinked, almost laughing in exasperation at this guy. He took a breath and put on a serious expression again: "Of the sixteen base commanders who were kidnapped, only Commander Li did not contact your base via radio. Of all the missing personnel, only you are free. If you say we don't suspect you, who do we suspect? Besides, at the time of the incident, you were being targeted by everyone."

Niu Dazhuang continued to feign ignorance: "I don't know anything about what you're saying. After our base commander disappeared that day, I ran out to look for him. You can suspect us, that's your prerogative, but everything needs evidence."

Seeing Niu Dazhuang's stubbornness, Yan Bo sighed and said, "Some things don't necessarily need evidence to be established. Niu Dazhuang, even if you don't say anything, we can still catch the people we want, and it shouldn't be long."

Niu Dazhuang was filled with doubt and tension, but on the surface he remained nonchalant: "So what if you caught him? If you really do catch him, I should thank you. It'll also save our base commander. From what you're saying, do you have any leads?"

Yan Bo didn't keep them in suspense and answered directly: "Although your change of route a few days ago was extremely reasonable and cautious, our vanguard has already scouted the route ahead, and according to our calculations and predictions, it has already exceeded the expected range."

We've been following you for so long, from the moment we caught up with you until we followed you for nearly six days. Your speed and direction were always very clear. But from the day you became suspicious, your speed began to slow down, your rest periods started to lengthen, and your direction of travel also changed.

"Niu Dazhuang, I'm only part of the men left behind to intercept you. We have three more teams sweeping and tracking in the other three directions. The results will be out soon."

Niu Dazhuang remained unfazed: "You guys have quite the entourage. It's fortunate that our base leader disappeared with those old guys this time. If she had disappeared alone, you probably wouldn't have uttered a sound, would you?"

Yan Bo shook his head: "Keep being stubborn! This time it's different. The person the higher-ups value most is your base commander. Our orders are to bring him back no matter what."

Niu Dazhuang's eyes widened, and he said indignantly, "What? Did you already plan to pin the blame on us?"

Yan Bo neither knew nor could torture Niu Dazhuang. Seeing his calm and composed demeanor, he knew that he would not find any breakthrough with him for the time being.

With a sigh, Yan Bo stood up to see the guest out: "Since you're unwilling to say anything, then go back. Let's wait for new information together. Hopefully, you'll be able to explain yourself then."

Niu Dazhuang kicked aside the chair next to him and stood up: "I hope that when the time comes, if you can't find any evidence, you'll remember to sincerely apologize to us. What you're doing now is simply a trumped-up charge."

Yan Bo stood in front of Niu Dazhuang: "Wake up. The forces you're facing can't be glossed over with a few sophistry. We won't make judgments without reason."

Niu Dazhuang and Yan Bo exchanged a glance for a second, then Niu Dazhuang snorted, pushed Yan Bo aside, and went out of the tent to find his own people.

The earthquake came very suddenly. The moment Li Ke felt the shaking, she told the three people working below to climb up immediately, while she herself turned around and ran into the passage.

There were other people locked in the rooms inside, and she had to open their doors so they could get to the ground first.

After three tremors, the surroundings calmed down again, but the unfinished basement that Li Ke had just dug was not capable of withstanding a strong earthquake.

As for taking these people into her space, that's impossible. They've already felt the earthquake. If another strong earthquake comes later, it would be hard to explain how she managed to make them not feel the earthquake if she released them afterward.

Li Ke unlocked all the doors, carried a large bag on her back, and ran ahead to the exit with a machine gun. She lowered the elevator, and the others followed closely behind her.

Once on the ground, Li Ke felt a slight, continuous shaking. The ground seemed to be doubled, and her heartbeat quickened. This feeling was very unpleasant.

There was a slightly pungent, salty, and damp smell in the air, carried by the west wind, which was intensifying. The originally blazing sun was now shrouded in layers of shadow and became dim.

"Don't fight, line up! Anyone who's asking for trouble, I'll shoot them!" Li Ke shouted, pointing his gun at the crowd below.
