Chapter 369 Melting

Li Ke's movements had become somewhat mechanical by this point. Later on, when she was searching for solar energy ore, she hardly needed to open her eyes anymore and just used her senses to find it.

It wasn't that she didn't want to open her eyes; it was because she really felt like she was going blind. To protect herself, she piled all the associated crystals from the light energy mine she dug up around herself as a form of protection. She only collected some of them when she was almost buried alive.

Li Ke had lost all sense of time. At first, she was still counting, but after the thirtieth solar energy ore was stored in her space, her consciousness began to waver. She stopped counting how many more she mined after that.

All I knew was that I couldn't stop. In a daze, I could almost see my fingers turning into bones, and the protective gloves on them had disappeared without a trace.

Li Ke felt she was reaching her limit. Swaying unsteadily, she crashed into the pile of crystals beside her. Once she fell, she had no strength left to get up.

It felt as if his flesh and blood were being detached from his body. Li Ke felt like he was really melting. Surprisingly, it wasn't too painful. "I'm done! I'm done!" Li Ke's last thought was a somewhat dejected desire to give up on everything.

A series of screams came from below the cave, and it was faintly discernible that they were begging the people above to lift them up quickly, as they were in so much pain.

The white leader stood indifferently at the entrance of the cave, while his subordinates kept pressing the button to raise the platform, but there was no response. Clearly, the platform was also malfunctioning.

The maintenance crew arrived within five minutes. After inspecting the situation, they said it was caused by the excessively high temperature inside the cave. After some more troubleshooting, the lifting platform finally responded. However, the maintenance personnel said that if the situation inside the cave was not improved, the lifting platform would probably become unusable.

After the elevator slowly rose up, only two corpses remained of the original seven people on the platform, and their bodies were so badly damaged that it was difficult to identify them.

The white team leader asked one of the veterans who had been at the base longer, "What's going on here? According to their previous work practices, this shouldn't be happening, right?"

This person was none other than the captain who had gone out to report the news earlier; he was the only one who was brought back.

“A day ago, our men were able to descend to a depth of a thousand meters without wearing protective gear. The current situation is somewhat similar to what it was like when this mine was first opened,” the captain replied, his face pale.

At that time, the mine was blown up once because of the machine, and the entire base was almost destroyed. However, because the mine was not big, it survived in the end. In fact, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as it allowed them to go deeper underground.

However, the subsequent mining work used an extremely simple and crude method: water was injected, fish and people were used to fill the area, and once it reached a certain level, the people wearing protective gear could survive and continue working.

Later on, the miners found their own methods of isolation, and gradually the miners below had to do everything themselves.

The white tour leader was also helpless when he heard the answer. He had originally planned to make a big splash here, but he was met with obstacles at every turn.

He did want to use water, fish, and even human lives to fill the mine again, but they really didn't have anyone or time right now; the Chinese representative was about to arrive.

Now they know why the miners have been completely silent; it's probably because of the changes inside the mine—they've all been burned to death.

The team leader had these messages sent out.
