Chapter 395 Fire the Cannon

Snowflakes fell like goose feathers, and the wind and waves at sea caused the ship to rock constantly. Li Ke stood steadily at the bow, looking at Chen Ziyue and her brother on the opposite ship, who were so weak from the wind and snow that they could not stand and had to be helped by others. He showed them no pity.

“If you want to release them, then prepare your own boats to send them back. My boat will not accept them.” Despite the wind and snow, Li Ke’s voice carried powerfully to the opposite boat.

Joan brushed the snowflakes off her eyelashes and shouted into the loudspeaker, "What exactly do you want? Didn't you come here to rescue the hostages? Are you just going to watch these two elderly compatriots die?"

Li Ke: "Send them back the way you brought them here."

Joan was so angry she wanted to kill someone. Just then, Cage, who had been listening to her conversation, gave the order through his earpiece: "Since she's causing trouble like this, just kill her in front of her. I don't believe she won't take a single hostage!"

Upon hearing the order, Qiong immediately drew her pistol from her waist, flexed her stiff fingers, and seeing that Li Ke opposite her remained unmoved, she decisively fired and killed Chen Ziyue and her brother.

"Since you don't want them anymore, then I'll send them on their way early and end their suffering sooner," Joan shouted provocatively at Li Ke, then put her pistol back on her waist.

After killing two people, she felt some of the pent-up energy in her body finally dissipate. Just as she was about to ask Commander Cage for the next order, she suddenly felt dizzy and snowflakes were hitting her face rapidly. She heard the sound of bones breaking.

She saw several figures fly up beside her, and after the spinning stopped, the overwhelming waves suddenly pulled her into the darkness. Her body became heavier and heavier, and she sank into the depths of the sea.

Her body couldn't make any struggle to survive, and she couldn't feel the cold. Her consciousness was slowly fading away, and death came quickly. She was thankful that she wasn't in too much pain.

Cage heard a very short, muffled "hmm" through his headset, followed by a "whoosh" and a "thump." His experience allowed him to quickly determine that this was the sound of an object being thrown into the water.

After failing to call Joan, he immediately contacted the captain on the ship. The captain answered quickly, and the scene unfolding before his eyes shocked him so much that he didn't dare to move.

"That Li Ke shot down Qiong and all the crew members on deck into the sea in an instant. Her movements were too fast; we couldn't see clearly at all. We only saw our colleagues on deck flying up one by one and then falling." The captain only found his voice after hearing Cage's shouts a few times, and then quickly reported back.

Cage was trembling with rage. Joan was not only his subordinate but also one of his lovers. He roared at the captain, "What are you doing now? Didn't you fight back? Didn't you try to rescue anyone? Are all of you just going to watch this happen? Don't you know how to fire back?"

Upon hearing the order, the captain, as if snapping out of his daze, shouted to his first mate, "Immediately organize personnel to retaliate and rescue the people who have fallen into the water as soon as possible!"

The deputy next to him also heard the commander's roar and knew that the captain was just following orders, so he could only carry out the order with a grim expression.

Not to mention the elusive Li Ke on the other side, even if they wanted to fire back, they couldn't see him at all. Moreover, if their men were exposed on the deck, they would likely be kicked into the sea.

As for rescuing the people who had fallen into the water, the snow had thickly covered the entire deck, and the wind and waves were causing the whole ship to rock constantly. Under these circumstances, it was impossible to carry out rescue work, so they had no choice but to give up.

But now that the army commander has given the order, no matter how difficult it is, they must try their best to carry it out.

Cage heard gunshots and the captain's commands to the crew through his earpiece. After his angry outburst, he was now beginning to calm down.

As the captain led the charge, he watched his crew struggle to maintain their balance on the ship, searching for Li Ke, before firing a couple of shots haphazardly.

Meanwhile, on the other side, before the rescue boat could be successfully placed on the sea, one of the crew members had already fallen into the water.

The captain was equally frustrated and furious. Looking at Li Ke's ship, which was completely deserted, he immediately ordered, "Concentrate all firepower and open fire on the target ship!"

The subordinates immediately activated the adjustment turrets and concentrated their firepower on the opposite side. After three large cannonballs hit the ship at close range, the ship was immediately reduced to ashes. After the hull was broken and disintegrated, it slowly sank into the sea with flames and smoke.

When Cage heard the captain's order to fire the cannon through his earpiece, he instinctively wanted to stop him, but he quickly chose to let it go. This Li Ke was too arrogant. If he couldn't take her down, it would be better to kill her quickly.

Vincent paced anxiously for several steps. He was only in charge of the research lab. Cage was willing to discuss some things with him because of his lack of expertise in the field and his respect for him. But in the end, Cage was the general and the real leader here.

The gunfire had subsided, and Vincent, seeing that Cage's expression had returned to calm, suppressed his anxiety and said, "An attack of this magnitude is unlikely to cause any harm to Li Ke. We've all seen the recordings; her movements were too fast. Moreover, she's too small a target, making it easy for our attacks to miss. I think it would be better to negotiate with her; this kind of intense clash is not very meaningful."

Cage felt a little unhappy upon hearing this, but he knew Vincent was right, so he could only transfer his anger onto Li Ke.
