Reunion after eight years.

Chapter 43 Is it appropriate for you to have photos of other women on your phone?
Su Wanwan ran downstairs, and Xie Yanning opened the door for her.
She asked in a low voice, "What's going on? How come my parents are here?"
"They must have arranged it in advance. Your mother and mother are in the living room, and your father and my father are in the yard. They're probably talking about medicine." Xie Yuanqing is a professor of pharmacology.
These three professors have absolutely no overlap in their research fields.
"I never expected that my mom and your mom would become such good friends."
Xie Yanning thought to herself, "These can't be sisters," and vaguely replied, "It's good that we have a good relationship." At least there won't be any mother-in-law/daughter-in-law conflicts in the future.
"Have you eaten at the hospital?" Xie Yanning asked.
"No," Su Wanwan said, "I rushed back as soon as I got off the operating table." She wasn't worried that her parents would have any trouble adjusting, as they had already come over when they were helping her renovate the house.
Xie Yanning sighed almost imperceptibly, "Then I'll take you to get something to eat later."
As soon as she entered, she saw her father and Xie Yuanqing sitting in the pavilion, chatting happily while watching the fish in the pond.
Xie Yuanqing and Su Wanwan had only met twice.
Wearing glasses, he was refined and polite, a typical intellectual.
Su Wanwan greeted him.
"Hello, Uncle Xie, Dad."
Xie Yuanqing smiled and nodded gently. Su Chengze said, "Your mother is inside."
"Okay, then I'll go in and find her."
Upon entering the living room, Gu Ruyi and Zhong Qian were chatting animatedly about something.
"Hello, Auntie."
Gu Ruyi smiled and said, "Wanwan's off work? Come over here, we're just talking about you."
What does it mean to talk about her? What is there to talk about with her?
Had the two families become this close without her knowledge?
Gu Ruyi: "So you and Yan Ning were high school classmates?"
Su Wanwan: "Yes, we were in the same class for a year."
Zhong Qian said, "I never expected to be so lucky." Then she looked at Xie Yanning with great admiration in her eyes: "Your son is truly a handsome man."
Xie Yanning smiled and said, "Thank you for the compliment, Auntie."
“No, Wanwan is the most outstanding,” Gu Ruyi said.
Su Wanwan: "Let's skip this mutual complimenting part."
Zhong Qian and Gu Ruyi burst out laughing.
Xie Yanning said, "Auntie, Mom, you two chat first, I'll take her to get something to eat."
A knowing look appeared in both Zhong Qian's and Gu Ruyi's eyes at the same time.
“Go,” the two said in unison.
Watching them walk away hand in hand, the two exchanged a glance, then tacitly and naturally returned to their earlier conversation about flowers.
Children have their own blessings.
Gu Ruyi didn't know if the person Xie Yanning cared about back then was Su Wanwan, but she knew perfectly well what about her son.
Despite his gentlemanly demeanor, he keeps a great distance from people; to use a trendy phrase, he's aloof. When has he ever been so attentive to someone?
Zhong Qian had told Gu Ruyi before she came, and since it was so close and they happened to be there, she decided to come and visit.
Zhong Qian was shocked when she opened the door and saw Xie Yanning.
Where is the honest, thick-bottomed guy we were promised?
Su Wanwan hadn't told her that the child was so good-looking.
He's so tall, has such a handsome and well-defined face, and is an associate professor at a prestigious university.
Zhong Qian couldn't stop admiring him. She thought to herself, "It wouldn't be bad if Su Wanwan found someone like him."
In the kitchen, Xie Yanning took out the dinner that she had prepared beforehand.
"Thank you," Su Wan said.
"It came from leftovers."
“I don’t mind.” When she was busy before, she would just grab a piece of bread to fill her stomach, as long as it was enough, she didn’t care about the taste.
Now look at what's coming out of the insulated box—it looks, smells, and tastes delicious, with a perfect balance of meat and vegetables.
What's there to criticize about her?
Xie Yanning smiled and said, "You eat first."
Su Wanwan was really hungry, so she didn't hold back.
Xie Yanning took out her phone. "By the way, I'll send you the photos I took that day."
Su Wanwan's phone chimed twice.
She opened it, and the phone was clearer.
The photography skills are excellent; the photos immediately evoke a striking sense of beauty.
But the cinematic language... well, Su Wanwan felt something was off.
That's too ambiguous.
It's the same photo I took of my girlfriend.
“It’s fine since I sent it, you can delete it now,” Su Wanwan said.
"Why?" Xie Yanning frowned. "I have the copyright, you can't just abandon me after you've served your purpose."
“I also have the right to my image,” Su Wanwan said irritably. “Besides, is it appropriate for you to have photos of other women on your phone?”
Anyway, she's not that generous. If Zhang Yunqing saw her, she could twist Xie Yanning's head off.
"???" Xie Yanning didn't quite understand, and explained, "I don't have any photos of other women on my phone."
"Then you don't need to explain this to me. Just delete it. I'm doing this for your own good."
Xie Yanning paused for a moment, then smiled somewhat insincerely: "So stingy, you can't even leave a photo."
Su Wanwan didn't understand his thought process.
Isn't this normal?
"Believe me, I am a woman, that's for sure," Su Wanwan said sincerely.
Xie Yanning finally deleted the photo in front of Su Wanwan.
The two people behind him remained relatively silent.
"You're not thinking of using it to participate in some kind of photography exhibition, are you?" Su Wanwan broke the silence.
"What if I say yes?" Xie Yanning looked up at her.
“Oh, well… that’s not allowed either,” Su Wanwan said. “I’m not used to showing my face in public.”
"...Alright, you eat first." He'll be driven crazy by Su Wanwan sooner or later.
The next day, Su Chengze and Zhong Qian finished their work, and Su Wanwan took half a day off to spend time with her parents in exchange for covering someone else's night shift.
Xie Yuanqing and Gu Ruyi had a seminar, and Xie Yanning, who happened to have time, was instructed to extend his hospitality as the host.
In the end, Xie Yanning dutifully acted as the driver, while Su Wanwan playfully amused the two of them.
Su Chengze and Zhong Qian found Xie Yanning more and more pleasing to the eye, and watched with smiles as Xie Yanning poured tea for them.
"Thank you," Zhong Qian said to Su Chengze.
Xie Yanning led them to a very high-end Chinese restaurant.
Su Wanwan glanced at the menu; it was almost a month's salary for her.
Xie Yanning and the two elders had a very pleasant conversation at the table.
Xie Yanning is very knowledgeable and can chat about anything.
Su Chengze appreciated it even more. "Your point of view is quite interesting. I'll have to think about it when I get back."
"Just some minor insights," Xie Yanning said modestly.
Zhong Qian said, "Could you please stop talking about your business during dinner?" Then she turned to Xie Yanning and said, "Come on, let's eat."
"Thank you, Auntie."
Seeing the way they acted as if they were a family, Su Wanwan silently ate her meal.
When they had almost finished eating, Zhong Qian said, "Wanwan is just a bit short-tempered sometimes, so please bear with her."
Suddenly being dragged into this, Su Wanwan's eyes widened: "Mom, how can you be so mean? I have a very good temper, okay?"
