Although she got up early in the morning, Mingxiu was very excited and not sleepy at all. She kept lifting the curtain to look at the scenery outside.
Zhuangzi didn't seem to be very far from the palace; they arrived after about two hours of travel.
However, Mingxiu went from being energetic at the beginning to looking somewhat listless later on.
Motion sickness is so awful.
Upon arriving at their destination, Mingxiu didn't ask for help and rushed ahead of Kangxi to get out of the car.
Those standing outside, waiting for the emperor to alight from his carriage, were suddenly shocked. They hadn't expected the emperor to bring a woman with him.
Mingxiu got down first, stood to the side, and held her chest, slowly calming down her urge to vomit.
Kangxi then came down from up there.
"Greetings, Your Majesty!" Those who were waiting below immediately bowed when they saw Kangxi descend.
Kangxi nodded, gesturing for the person to rise, and walked over to Mingxiu with some concern, asking, "How are you feeling? Are you feeling better?"
Mingxiu nodded, indicating that she was alright.
"Your Majesty, everything is ready. Would Your Majesty like to go and check it now?" A middle-aged man who had been standing at the front walked up to Kangxi and clasped his hands in greeting.
Kangxi nodded. "This is Consort Ming. In a little while, have someone show Consort Ming around the estate. I will go with you to take a look."
"Yes," the man turned his head and waved casually. A middle-aged woman walked over gently and bowed to Kangxi and Mingxiu.
"Your Majesty, this is the wife of a steward on the estate. Her whole family works on the estate. Why don't you let her accompany Consort Ming on a tour later?"
Kangxi observed for a moment, thought it was acceptable, and turned to look at Mingxiu.
Mingxiu glanced at it and nodded. She was fine with anything, as long as someone could guide her so she wouldn't get lost.
After making arrangements for Mingxiu, Kangxi left with that person.
Mingxiu picked up the water pouch and drank some water gently. After recovering, she was full of energy again.
"We don't know how to address this auntie. Where should we start our tour?"
"I wouldn't dare, Your Majesty. My husband's surname is Li, and everyone calls me Aunt Li. If Your Majesty wishes to go anywhere, I can take you with me."
Mingxiu nodded, and after listening to Aunt Li's brief introduction, she led Aunt Li into the village.
"Your Majesty, the southeast side of the estate is planted with some rare vegetables and fruits, and there are greenhouses built there, supposedly for warmth, but they are not used now. The west side is planted with some rare seeds that the Emperor brought back, and then there are some fruit trees. The frontmost area is closed off, and I don't know what it's for. People are generally not allowed to go in there."
Mingxiu nodded, listened to her explanation, and looked into the deepest part. It was indeed sealed off, and there were quite a few people patrolling it.
"That's alright, let's go take a look to the west first. We'll just wander around and see what's going on," Aunt Li said, and then led Mingxiu westward.
Mingxiu looked at the estate; it was quite large. When she got there, she saw that most of the crops were staple foods: potatoes, corn, and cotton.
Mingxiu took a closer look, but the cotton looked a bit small.
It's not clear what's going on right now.
The corn harvest is plentiful; each ear looks golden and shiny.
Mingxiu stepped forward and broke off a piece of the egg, ignoring Aunt Li's objections.
