Chapter 1740 Taoist Priests Are Too Deceptive

"Did you go with that Taoist priest to gather herbs on the cliff?" Lanqin was soaking in brown water, and Sihua kept scooping water onto her with a spoon.

"Yes. Master even went to pick them himself. Ling Feng said so. Master wouldn't let him do it for him, saying he wanted to pick the herbs for the master himself," Si Hua said with a smile. Lan Qin was alright, and she was happier than anything else.

Lanqin thought about the Fourth Master she saw when she woke up. He had dark circles under his eyes, clearly indicating that he hadn't slept well the night before. When he saw that she was awake, the joy on his face was as bright as the sunshine after a snowfall.

"I never expected there to be something like this here. It was truly a close call!" Lan Qin said. She was genuinely frightened; if she had been poisoned by some kind of venomous snake, she probably wouldn't have survived.

"My lord, I'm terrified. If anything were to happen to you, I wouldn't want to live anymore," Si Hua said.

"Nobody expected there to be wild animals hiding in that meadow. Alright, you're almost done washing, help me up," Lanqin said. She felt much better; clearly, Master Zhou's medicine was quite effective. Fourth Master didn't reveal what he'd heard from the old man, so everyone assumed it was Zhou Tianhao's medicine that had worked.

Fourth Master led Su Peisheng around the entire clinic, asking several local villagers about the four-horned monster. Just as the old man had said, there was no need for any special antidote. These creatures were everywhere, and locals were frequently bitten. They usually just stayed home for a few days and recovered; only the more particular ones would come to Master Zhou for some medicine.

"That Taoist priest Zhou is a complete fraud! He actually asked me for ten thousand taels of silver! It's outrageous!" Su Peisheng said angrily. Yesterday, that Taoist priest had Fourth Master give him three thousand taels first, and the rest was paid in cash from the bank, similar to a check.

“Perfect, let’s go to Wudang through him,” Fourth Master said. “Later, I’ll go find him. Either he’ll return the money, or he’ll take us to see the Wudang Sect Leader.”

“Master, with your status revealed, are you afraid they won’t see you?” Su Peisheng said.

“Zhou Tiangang is currently by Father Emperor’s side. These people’s ability to argue is extraordinary. How do you know if these people are behind Zhou Tiangang?” Fourth Prince said.

"Does Master mean that Zhou Tiangang might have support from the Quanzhen Sect?" Su Peisheng asked.

Fourth Master nodded, and the two of them stood silently on the grass, looking towards the direction of the beautiful mountains and forests.

As dusk fell once more, Lanqin was able to get out of bed. She still wanted to eat the noodles Su Peisheng made and kept pestering him to make them for everyone. Su Peisheng was furious, remembering how those two despicable people, master and apprentice, had dared to cheat Fourth Master out of his money, but he refused to make them for everyone.

"Consort, this servant will serve you and Master. There is no room for anyone else," Su Peisheng said.

"Su Peisheng, Master Zhou and the others went to great lengths to save me, so please make some more. It's so delicious, let everyone have a taste!" Lanqin said.

The Fourth Master sat beside Lanqin with a dark face, not saying a word. Su Peisheng could only look to the Fourth Master for help.

"Master, what's wrong?" Lanqin felt that the Fourth Master's aura was very low, but he refused to tell her.

"Su Peisheng, go make some noodles. Make enough for nine people, we'll treat Master Zhou to a meal of noodles. Besides, we'll be using all his ingredients." Fourth Master said, looking up.

The two maids also went out with Su Peisheng to make noodles. Ling Feng and Gesang never came in unless the Fourth Master called them.

"My lord, what exactly happened? Is there something you're hiding from me?" Lanqin asked.

Fourth Master then recounted to Lanqin what had happened after she was bitten by the four-legged monster. He then described how he had carried her to seek medical help and how Zhou Tianhao had deceived him and swindled him out of ten thousand taels of silver.

"What? That shameless Taoist priest! How dare he cheat me out of my money, ten thousand taels of silver?" Lanqin was so angry after hearing Fourth Master's account that she wanted to jump up.

The Fourth Prince stared blankly at Lanqin's flustered appearance, as if her illness had suddenly disappeared. Seeing the Fourth Prince's surprised look, Lanqin quickly smiled and said, "I'm fine now. I was just really angry when I heard that the Taoist priest had cheated you out of ten thousand taels of silver."

"Qin'er, do you still remember why we came to Wudang Mountain?" Fourth Master asked.

"Of course I remember, it was to find a virtuous monk for Father Emperor!" Lanqin said, "But I didn't expect these lousy Taoist priests to be so incompetent, each one of them deceiving people completely."

“This time, let’s work together to fool Zhou Tianhao. Let him lead the way to their sect leader,” Fourth Master said.

"How do we lie?" Lanqin asked.

"I don't know, I don't have a plan yet. But I'm worried that if I were to meet their leader in my current capacity, it might not be effective. I need to think of a way to make them realize that Zhou Tiangang is bringing annihilation to the Quanshi Sect," said Fourth Master.

Just as Lanqin was about to speak to Fourth Master, a commotion suddenly broke out outside. Lanqin heard a woman's voice, trembling with sobs, saying, "Master Zhou, please save my son! I'm begging you!"
