Chapter 1959 Enemies Meet on a Narrow Road

The next morning, preparations began in the Fourth Master's inner quarters. The arriving guests went to the front yard with practiced ease, as it was only three months before Hongshi's wedding.

The women naturally followed behind, with Ushiha and Bechuk accompanying Namin as she was passively dressed up as a bride step by step amidst the elaborate rituals.

Ushiha looked at Namin's head, which was adorned with a red gold headdress and many dense pearl flowers, as if he wanted to wear mountains of gold and silver on his head!

Seeing Namin's state, Ushiha thought to himself that he would never want to be like this when he got married. He saw Namin sitting there shyly, listening to the gossips and chatter of her aunts and uncles, unable to refute anything, and could only sit there and listen bashfully.

Feeling utterly bored, Ushiha secretly slipped out to take a walk and get some fresh air. Since everyone in the manor was busy, no one would notice what she was doing. Ushiha then shook off her maid and left the west courtyard alone.

She walked alone until she reached the front yard. It was all men; women weren't allowed in. So she played in the small garden behind the front yard.

Ushiha just wanted to avoid people, but groups of two or three people kept walking in from all directions through the passageway. When they saw Ushiha, they would either bow, greet her, or avoid her, which really ruined her mood for a walk.

Ushiha prepared to return to the South Courtyard to rest alone. She glanced at the front yard and then walked back along the passageway connecting the front yard and the South Courtyard.

A person walked towards her, and when Ushiha recognized him, her eyes widened in surprise. It was the very person who had thrown a stone at her at the glutinous rice ball stall yesterday!

"What the hell! How could he be here!" Ushiha could hardly believe his eyes, but as the man drew closer...

The man was different from yesterday; today he was wearing a straight-cut robe and a mandarin jacket, which were common for men in the Qing Dynasty, and he even wore a small hat inlaid with jade on his head.

"What are you doing here?!" Ushiha shouted angrily. This was his territory, and he was determined to avenge yesterday's humiliation.

The newcomer was none other than Suhari. When he saw Ushiha, he was taken aback, thinking to himself: How come I've run into that rude woman from yesterday again?

“I’m here because I was invited by the people of the manor. What are you doing here again?” Suhari asked, his large blue eyes sparkling. Actually, his eyes weren’t the same deep blue as those of foreigners, but a dark blue. Because Suhari’s mother had half Han Chinese ancestry, Suhari looked somewhat like a Han Chinese, not quite like a pure West Asian.

"Who invited you?" Ushiha wanted to say "my father," but quickly changed his mind, not wanting to tell the man his identity.

“Naturally, it’s the master of this house. Isn’t today the princess of this household getting married?” Suhari sized up Ushiha, and had to admit that the women of the Qing Dynasty were different from those of their Ferghana Kingdom. And the woman before him was different from the other Qing women he had seen in recent days. Her eyes didn’t dart away with shyness, and she didn’t show any infatuation when she looked at him. He knew that his own appearance was the best in Ferghana. And since coming to the Qing Dynasty, very few women he had seen hadn’t been amazed by his looks.
