New book is open: "Qing Dynasty Transmigration: Fourth Master's Beloved Consort", welcoming new and old friends to follow.
Before transmigration, Lin Mengyao was a leftover woman ...
In the following days, Fourth Master carefully "served" her, and Lanqin also loved to throw little tantrums, causing trouble for everyone.
Nianxue and Xicha were surprised that the princess's pregnancy would turn out this way. They were both worried and happy. They were worried that their master might find the princess too demanding; they were happy that their master was so accommodating to her. She hadn't even given birth yet, so she was sure she would be wonderful after she did.
Su Peisheng admired him even more; it took skill to put a man through such a ordeal.
Immediately afterwards, the head nanny, accompanied by several young maids, brought in several bolts of plain satin, and they were even colorful—light pink, light green, light purple, and of course, white as well. These were all treasures from the Fourth Prince's front courtyard storeroom; even the Fujin (Prince's wife) only had a few bolts.
"Princess, the master instructed early this morning to bring all these over to make clothes for you. He said they should be cut a bit larger so that you can wear them when your belly grows bigger." The head nanny brought them personally, showing how much the Fourth Master valued them.
Lanqin looked at the plain satin and thought: I could make some summer maternity clothes, and then some for winter wear. I could also make some for the little one in my belly, in white and light green, so that both boys and girls could wear them.
"Thank you for your trouble, Granny, Nianxue!" Lanqin knew that the Fourth Master relied heavily on this head nanny, and every time she came to deliver something, she would give her the largest purse.
"This old servant thanks Your Highness for the reward. The embroiderer will be here shortly. Your Highness, please give the orders. The work arranged by the two wives is almost finished. Now that she has some free time, she can do it specifically for Your Highness," the head nanny said with a smile. This princess has always been pleasant to talk to and do, and she doesn't have the airs of a favored concubine. She is much more amiable and easy-going than the main wife in the main courtyard, and much better at dealing with people than the one who just gave birth to twins.
After the head maid left, the two maids outside came in, and the four maids chattered around a pile of plain satin.
“Princess, this fabric is so nice, it feels incredibly smooth to the touch. It must be so cool to wear in the summer,” Xicha said.
"Princess, make some clothes for the young master. Although Princess Song and Princess Geng have made some to send over, as his mother, you should still make some for him yourself," Nianxue said to Lanqin.
"You guys figure it out." Lanqin slumped on the master couch, still looking unwell. This was because she had lost her appetite. Lanqin felt like she had no appetite for anything, and there was something stuck in her chest, making her feel extremely uncomfortable.
"Princess, what would you like for lunch? I noticed you didn't eat much for breakfast." Nianxue instructed Xicha and Sihua to move the plain satin into the cabinet.
"Nianxue, come with me for a walk. It's really uncomfortable being cooped up here." Lanqin wasn't comfortable lying down either, so she sat up abruptly, wanting to go out for a stroll.
“Princess, you haven’t even been pregnant for three months yet. It’s best not to go out. What if you run into someone and they offend you?” Nianxue quickly stretched out her arm and let Lanqin grab her arm to stand up.
"Nianxue, I'm just taking a walk. Who can bother me?" Lanqin said nonchalantly. It was past the Dragon Boat Festival, and the weather was getting hotter. Nianxue quickly called Sihua and asked her to take a handle and a basket containing a teapot, teacups, and pastries.
Lanqin stood at the door, gazing at the bright sunshine outside, patiently waiting for Nianxue to instruct Sihua to fetch this and that, her heart filled with a warm tranquility.
Oh no, I'm going to be a mom!! Mom, are you doing okay over there?
People say that once a woman has given birth, she knows how difficult it is to be a mother. Right now, Lanqin has had a poor appetite for several days and is starting to feel listless. She's starting to think about her mother in another time and space—not Anjia.
After Nianxue and Sihua had gathered their things, Lanqin looked back and saw that poor Sihua's hands were full. Nianxue herself had also carried a basket.
"It's just a short walk, but you're making it sound like you're going on a trip," Lanqin said with a smile. Nianxue was the person who warmed Lanqin's heart the most, even more so than Anjia. Lanqin was very grateful to Nianxue for taking such meticulous care of her.
“Princess, you are pregnant now, so I only brought you food and drink, and a blanket. Although the weather is hot, you still can’t catch a cold,” Nianxue said earnestly.
Lanqin didn't speak to her again, and the three of them, mistress and servants, went out. Nianxue walked behind Lanqin, holding an umbrella.
The weather is getting warmer, and all the flowers in the yard are in bloom. They are all flowers that Lanqin doesn't know the names of, bright red, very fragrant and beautiful.
Lanqin wasn't going anywhere in particular, she just wandered around aimlessly. There were all sorts of flowers along the way, and Lanqin would look at this one and then that one, until she unknowingly walked to the outside of the west courtyard.
Lanqin looked up at the courtyard gate and recalled the scene when she first entered that courtyard a year ago.
"Gege, shall we go see Princess Geng?" Nianxue said when she saw her looking at the courtyard gate.
“Alright, it’s been a long time since I’ve been to this courtyard. Let’s go in and see Sister Geng.” Lanqin took Nianxue’s hand and stepped onto the stairs of the west courtyard.
As she walked into the courtyard, she unconsciously glanced at the rooms where she used to live. Yin's room was right next to it, overgrown with weeds, and much of the paint on the door frame had peeled off, yet no one had come to repair it.
It had been a long time since I'd seen Madam Yin; she stayed cooped up in her room all day. Her maid, Ye Ying, would occasionally see her come out to fetch meals.
"Sister, come here quickly! Why are you standing there!" When Geng heard from the maid that Niu Gege had arrived outside, she hurriedly went out of the room and saw Lanqin standing in the rooms where she used to live, lost in thought.
Lanqin turned her head, smiled, and then helped Nianxue toward the Geng family.
Little did she know that as she walked past the door of the house where Madam Yin lived, a pair of resentful eyes were staring at her back.
That's right, it was Yin Panchun, who had been confined to her home for more than half a year. Her pale face was framed by a pair of bright, shimmering eyes.
"She's pregnant?" Madam Yin said softly, her voice sounding somewhat cold in the quiet room.
"Yes, I heard it from the maids in other courtyards when I was fetching water," Ye Ying said.
Meow meow meow~~~
Suddenly, a meow interrupted the two, and a black cat with supernatural fur emerged from Yin's inner room.
The cat was entirely black, without a single blemish. Only its eyes were bright and clear, like the full moon in the night sky.
"Mimi, come here." Madam Yin turned around, walked to the cat's side, squatted down, and called to the cat.
The black cat remained obediently held by Madam Yin. Madam Yin carried the cat to the couch and sat down, saying to Ye Ying, "Go to the kitchen and find it some fish."
Night Poppy responded and left.
Madam Yin sat in the somewhat dimly lit room, holding the cat, without saying a word.
