Hua Rong does not dwell on the past, nor does she inquire about the future. She only wishes to survive.
P.S.: No romantic pairing, though many have one-sided feelings for the female lead.
Just as I stepped inside, a woman who looked gentle and melancholy suddenly rushed out.
Upon seeing Hua Rong, he ran over, hugged her, and started crying.
"Rongrong, you're finally back."
Hua Rong: "..."
She resisted the urge to throw Chu's mother out.
After searching my memory, I roughly understand what happened.
She gently pushed Chu's mother away and said coldly, "My father is back again asking for money?"
Hua Rong looked at the original owner's mother. She was only in her thirties, but she looked like she was in her forties or fifties.
Judging from her facial features, she must have been quite beautiful when she was young.
But for some reason, she couldn't think straight and married Chu's father, that beast in human form.
Originally seeking comfort from her daughter, Chu's mother was rendered speechless by Hua Rong's cold tone.
Especially after seeing Hua Rong's indifferent face, he dared not say anything more.
She was quite cowardly at heart, and could only endure her husband's violence.
He was simply at a loss in the face of Hua Rong's indifference.
"Don't worry, I hid your living expenses for this semester and your tuition for next semester very well, and he didn't find them."
When Chu's mother spoke, her tone was very soft, sounding almost like she was trying to please him.
If her tone sounded like she was trying to please, then her eyes could only be described as genuinely trying to please!
Seeing her like this, Hua Rong sighed heavily in her heart.
Isn't it said that motherhood makes one strong?
However, Hua Rong could sense that although the original owner had blamed Chu's mother for being cowardly, she felt more sorry for her.
Hua Rong forced a smile, trying to soften her expression, and tugged at Chu's mother's sleeve.
"Mom, stop talking about him, I'm hungry."
Seeing her daughter being "close" to her, Chu's mother breathed a sigh of relief, and her expression softened even more.
It looks like... it wants to be bullied even more!
She pulled Hua Rong into the house, saying, "I cooked you some noodles and added two eggs. Eat up."
Hua Rong entered the house and found that there were only three rooms, and the space was very small.
Outside is the cooking and dining area, and there is also a three-door wardrobe that looks very old.
Hua Rong walked to the side and opened the door to one of the rooms.
I found it to be a very clean and warm room, and there were even quite a few dolls inside.
However, those dolls look like they were broken and then sewed back together.
Hua Rong understood immediately; this was something Chu's mother had picked up from the garbage dump, washed clean, and given to the original owner.
This room, which is only a dozen square meters, contains only a bed and a table; there is no room for anything else.
The bed is a single bed, and it's not very big.
The blankets and quilts on top are pink and very clean.
The dolls of different sizes are neatly arranged on it, showing the softness in the owner's heart.
On the desk next to it were many textbooks, neatly arranged, showing the owner's care for them.
The room was too small; there weren't even any chairs. I sat on the bed, which served as my chair.
In the corner of the room was a wooden box of moderate size, and Hua Rong knew what was inside.
Several notebooks were filled with a young girl's hazy, budding feelings.
Unfortunately, these notebooks are destined to just sit in boxes collecting dust.
The girl's thoughts vanished completely with Hua Rong's arrival.
Hua Rong stopped paying attention to the wooden box and went inside, carefully examining every corner of the small room.
This small space warmed her heart and made her feel incredibly light and carefree.
She walked out of the room, turned around and leaned against the door, looking at the back of Chu's mother as she busied herself picking noodles for Hua Rong at the stove.
In the hazy smoke, Chu's mother's face was somewhat blurred, yet it exuded a sense of warmth.
She seemed to find happiness in simply picking out noodles for her.
"Rongrong, come and eat! I put in lots of chili peppers, you'll definitely like it."
The original owner liked spicy food, just like Hua Rong did.
She took a bite of noodles, looked up at Chu's mother, and smiled. This time, the smile was genuine.
"It's delicious, thank you, Mom."
There seemed to be tears in Chu's mother's eyes, but upon closer inspection, there was nothing there.
"Eat more if you like it, there's more in the pot."
Hua Rong slept with Chu's mother that night.
The two of them slept in a single bed, which was a bit cramped.
Surprisingly, they all slept very well.
Hua Rong thought Chu's father was very lucky.
He didn't show up after breakfast.
She glanced at Chu's frail mother, a rare hint of unease creeping into her eyes.
"Mom, after you finish work today, don't go home for dinner. Come pick me up at the school gate."
Hearing this, Chu's mother was somewhat surprised. She looked at Hua Rong cautiously, her eyes sparkling.
"Really? Can I really come to your school to find you?"
Hua Rong was taken aback, then remembered that the original owner was worried that the people she had offended would harm Chu's mother, so she had always prevented her from going to school.
Of course, the original owner said some hurtful things because of this.
"You look so old, if I said you were my mother, wouldn't I have no face left?"
"You're dressed so old-fashionedly, you're embarrassing me!"
"How can I face my classmates if they see you?"
"..."
Hua Rong pursed her lips, somewhat helpless.
This mess has all fallen on her shoulders.
Fortunately, Hua Rong was already quite skilled at cleaning up the messes left by the original owners.
Therefore, she said without changing her expression, "Of course, Mom. I'm sorry, what I said before wasn't sincere. You are the best mother in the world."
"Okay! I'll definitely come pick you up!"
Chu's mother was weak and naive, and immediately believed Hua Rong's words.
