Chapter 132 Female College Students in the 1960s (11)

Xu Keke herself didn't know how Gao Lan had become her underling.

During the last period of the morning, their class had physical education. Xu Keke had just walked to the playground with her classmates when she heard Gao Lan shout, "Meng Dong, Meng Dong, I'm here."

Of course she knew she was there; not only she knew, but everyone knew. Not just because of her overly loud voice, Gao Lan burst out from her group of classmates, standing alone in front, arms outstretched, waving at her. The scene looked as if they were long-lost relatives, her standing on a cruise ship, her waiting for her on shore, separated by rivers and lakes.

It was so stupid that Xu Keke couldn't bear to look at it.

On the playground where classes were about to begin, Gao Lan successfully drew the attention of all three classes to herself.

As the classmates in the class looked at Xu Keke, the people in the other two classes also realized who Gao Lan was calling for, and everyone's attention shifted from Gao Lan to her.

This made Xu Keke a little uncomfortable. She couldn't bring herself to respond loudly like Gao Lan. Before Gao Lan could even shout, she reluctantly raised her hand and waved at her, hoping it would calm her down a bit. But it didn't seem to have much effect. Gao Lan became even more eager, making a running start as if she were about to run towards her.

This was a bit much for Xu Keke. She couldn't handle being such an overly enthusiastic little girl anymore.

"Alright, what are you yelling about? Go back to your own class." Gao Jiale strolled out of another class, took two steps forward, and shouted at Gao Lan.

Gao Lan was so frightened that she retreated.

Alright, there's no need to look at anyone else on the playground anymore; everyone's eyes are now fixed on the three of them.

This morning, someone in class announced that their PE teacher was sick. During the second period, the PE representative said that another PE teacher who had originally taken leave had been called back to substitute for them. However, he would be teaching three classes simultaneously. Everyone had thought PE class would be canceled today, but now that they had it, no one said anything except cheers.

However, Xu Keke did not expect such a coincidence, as it happened to be the same class as the three of them.

After yelling at Gao Lan, Gao Jiale didn't go back. Instead, he put his hands in his pockets and walked towards the teaching building. Two male students saw him leave and also left the classroom group to follow him.

After Gao Jiale left, among the group of people behind him, there was a tall female student who asked her best female classmate,

"What was the name of the woman Gao Lan called out to?"

“Meng Dong, that’s the one whose mother hanged herself.”

Another slightly chubby girl leaned over and said, "Rosie, she and Gao Jiale go to and from school together every day. I've seen them several times."

"Forget it, what do you know? She and Gao Jiale live over there. They live in the same courtyard, they're neighbors."

Rosie nodded thoughtfully.

Not long after, the PE teacher arrived. The three classes lined up, and the teacher immediately noticed that one class was missing a student.

"Class 1-2, sports representative, who in your class is absent?"

"Teacher, Gao Jiale has an upset stomach, so Zhao Lei and Chen Jiangang accompanied him to the infirmary."

This sports committee member really knows how to talk a good game. Three classes were watching, and Gao Jiale didn't seem to have a stomachache at all. The way he yelled at his sister—anyone could tell he had plenty of energy and was incredibly healthy. It seems Gao Jiale really is a school bully; Xu Keke was seeing this for the first time.

The PE teacher didn't seem to care much about it; he only frowned slightly and didn't pursue the matter further. He shouted at the students, somewhat annoyed.

"The boys will run laps later."

As soon as he said that, a chorus of "Ouch!" erupted across the playground, as all the boys tried to express their dissatisfaction.

The PE teacher glared at him, "What's with the 'oh'? Oh, boys run laps, girls..."

"Teacher, can we girls organize a volleyball match?"

Xu Keke thought the girl who made the suggestion was incredibly kind. The school had two regular activities: running laps and running a longer loop. Running laps meant running around the school's track. Running a longer loop meant running around the school gate.

Xu Keke doesn't want to participate in either of these two sports right now. There's no physical education teacher today because there's no one to lead the morning exercises; the school already organized a run for all teachers and students during recess.

After listening to the female student's suggestion, the PE teacher remained silent for a long time, and then, for some reason, nodded in agreement.

The sports representatives from Class 1 and 2 of the first year of high school also raised their hands, "Teacher, let's boys cheer for the girls and be the referees."

All the boys looked at the PE teacher with hopeful eyes. The boys from Class 1 and 2, relying on the fact that he was their PE teacher and they had a closer relationship with him than the boys from the other two classes, dared to shout.

"Yes, teacher, you can't favor girls over boys; you have to be fair."

"That's right, teacher, we already did our morning exercises today, please forgive us."

"Teacher, we want to learn to play volleyball from the girls."

The PE teacher, barely in his thirties, was so exasperated by them that he laughed. He pretended to be angry and glanced at them, but once everyone had shut up, he suddenly burst into laughter. His laughter was like a signal, and everyone joined in.

"Hey kid, which of you boys will go get a volleyball for the girl?"

"Whoosh! Long live the teacher!" The boys from Class 1 and 2 of the first year of high school got excited and rushed towards the small white building next to the teaching building, one after the other. That was the physical education teacher's office, which contained sports equipment.
