Xu Keke has a peculiar way of sleeping: no matter how tired or sleepy she is, once she enters deep sleep, she will automatically enter a light sleep state after only a short while.

So when Du Shan and Du Rui entered the room, she immediately woke up.

"Third sister, where do you think that jade buckle is kept?"

"Shut up! Just look for it and you'll find out."

“If you say it’s scratched, Father will scold her, but what if she wears it around her neck? Why don’t we go back and avoid waking her up again?”

"If you want to leave, then leave." Du Shan didn't believe she would dare disobey her.

After hesitating for a while, Du Rui finally said in a low voice, "Forget it, I'll go back. Look at how Father looks at her. Maybe if he sees her face, all his anger will disappear. If he's afraid of upsetting her, he might give her whatever she wants."

Du Shan wasn't used to this kind of thing, and her hands trembled slightly. The gleaming knife flashed across Xu Keke's face. Realizing its position, Du Shan gripped the knife with both hands and stabbed down suddenly.

The first to rush in was Du Wei, who lived next door. When he opened the door, the key that Du Rui and the others used to open the door was still in the lock.

Du Wei frantically turned on the light and saw his eldest sister, who had just arrived that day, sitting on the bed. Beside her bed, his third sister held a knife handle, the blade deeply embedded in his fourth sister's arm. Blood flowed from her arm, staining the white sheets and dripping onto the floor.

Du Rui clutched her arm, her face pale with pain, and her cries continued.

Du Shan froze, letting go of the knife, which fell to the ground with a thud. Looking at the knife on the ground, Du Shan was terrified.

She couldn't understand why this had happened. Her original plan was to make a sharp cut, throw down the knife, push Du Rui down, and then run away.

Once she was outside, she turned back and pretended she had just arrived. Du Rui would never dare to tell anyone, and even if she did, she could deny it.

She had planned it perfectly, with absolutely no room for error. But now, what was she to do? Du Shan was completely bewildered.

Du Wei was only ten years old. He was not much better off than Du Shan, the person involved. He stood at the door, at a loss, panicked and not knowing what to do.

The siblings Du Jue and Du Yuan arrived shortly after. Upon seeing the scene inside, Du Jue shoved Du Wei aside and rushed over.

He turned around and shouted at Du Wei, "What are you standing there for? Go get the first-aid kit."

Picking up the knife that had fallen to the ground, Du Jue tore off a sheet and used it to bandage Du Rui's wound.

Du Wei ran away, and Du Yuan stood where he had been, glancing at Du Rui who was slumped on the ground. She crossed her arms and looked at Du Shan with a mocking expression.

The second concubine arrived with Du Bingtian; they arrived a step later than Lin Meijuan.

The second concubine rushed into the room and went straight to Du Rui. Xu Keke was close by and saw her phoenix eyes widen in shock. She didn't cry or make a fuss; in fact, she was frighteningly calm.

She knelt down beside Du Jue, carefully examining Du Rui's injuries. She helped roll up her sleeves.

Having learned from her experiences in the previous worlds, Xu Keke knew that this was the typical emergency response of an incredibly strong mother. Such people tend to remain calmer the more panicked they are.

On the other side, Du Shan, who had been standing, burst into tears upon seeing Du Bingtian and Lin Meijuan. She rushed into Du Bingtian's arms.

She tearfully recounted to him how she discovered Du Rui had secretly sneaked into her eldest sister's room, and how she saw her preparing to attack with a knife.

In her haste, she accidentally injured her fourth sister while struggling for the knife.

Du Shan buried her head and sobbed, saying she was terrified. She added that she never imagined that just changing rooms would cause her fourth sister to hold a grudge against her eldest sister and try to harm her.

Du Rui, pale-faced, was furious. She was about to speak in her defense when the second concubine stopped her with her hand.

Du Jue, who was bandaging, paused, felt Xu Keke's gaze, and met her eyes. He lowered his head with a complicated expression.

Looking at the top of his head, Xu Keke laughed. So there really are innocent and naive children in this family. Who is tonight's family entertainment for? Du Bingtian, of course.

"Father, I beg you, please don't blame Fourth Sister. She's still young, she just didn't understand things right away. Look, she's injured, it must hurt a lot, she definitely won't do it again. Father, please forgive her."
