It started raining outside. Li Wan had lived in a water town since she was a child. It was a small town, but it was similar to this place. It also started raining every year around May or June.

The rain wasn't heavy, but it was persistent and lingering.

She disliked the damp climate and the feeling of rain, which always made people feel uneasy.

Just like now, it was sunny this morning, but in such a short time, it's become overcast. The servants haven't lit the lamps yet, and the room is gloomy.

Chen Zikang's expression also turned gloomy and inscrutable. Li Wan couldn't remember the last time she had seen him like this.

She knew Chen Zikang had a bad temper. But over the years, as he got older and gained experience in business, he changed a lot.

But when they first got married, whenever he was unhappy, he would just walk away with a cold face, no matter where he was or who he was with.

Moreover, if he's unhappy, he won't smile for a long time. He'll be cold and aloof.

After so many years together, she had a crystal-clear understanding of his emotional state. And she was exceptionally perceptive.

She knew where his bottom line was, she could read all his expressions, and she knew what would upset him.

So, whenever she sensed any sign that he was unhappy, she would inexplicably become nervous. Because when he was like that, she felt like she couldn't breathe.

His expression and tone today made her feel that oppressive atmosphere again.

Following Chen Zikang's gaze, she looked at Xu Keke. He disliked this daughter. She disgusted Chen Zikang.

Suddenly the lights came on; the servants had turned on the living room lights.

Her daughter, who had been keeping her eyes down, looked up at her. The indifference in her eyes was no better than that in Chen Zikang's.

Chen Pu, the son, also had no smile on his face. His brows were furrowed, as if he were somewhat confused, but Li Wan thought this was good. At least it didn't feel cold.

They were all waiting for her to make arrangements. They were all looking at her.

Li Wan spoke with difficulty, "But the other rooms haven't been cleaned yet. Why don't you and Huihui cover for a couple of days..."

Li Wan sounded somewhat guilty, avoiding Xu Keke's gaze. She knew the other rooms were too small and that wouldn't be appropriate.

When she received Li Shi's telegram, she was already thinking about how to arrange things. She and Chen Zikang discussed for a long time who would stay in the small room. Finally, they decided that the two girls would stay together.

"I think the other rooms, even if they weren't specifically cleaned, shouldn't be too dirty..."

As soon as Xu Keke spoke, the other four assumed she was going to move to another room. Li Wan's heart clenched. She didn't know what to do, but she didn't want things to turn out this way.

But Chen Zikang's expression softened a little. Huihui breathed a sigh of relief. She didn't want to live with this girl. She didn't like her.

Everyone had told her that this girl was definitely not as good as her in any way, just like the other country kids from her great-grandfather's family. They were timid and unfit for the stage.

They said that although she was the older sister, they could teach her, and once she learned, she could help them with many things, just like a little maid.

But now she doesn't want to agree anymore.

She let go too soon.

"Make her empty the room. Let her move to another room. Have the servants move her things out quickly."

Xu Keke's tone of voice didn't sound like that of a ten-year-old child. It was decisive and left no room for doubt.

Ignoring their surprise, she looked firmly at Li Wan and said, "I heard from my uncle that after he lost me, he was heartbroken and that's why he came to find her. Now that I, a proper young lady, have returned, shouldn't what belongs to me be returned to me?"

"On what grounds?" Chen Zikang blurted out.

“Because I am your daughter. You’ve been looking for me for a long time, haven’t you been waiting for me to come home? Now that I’m back, you can keep this imposter. You can continue to treat her well. But there’s no reason why I shouldn’t be treated as well as she is in this family.”

Xu Keke didn't need to be polite to them; she didn't believe Chen Zikang would really dare to turn against her.

“The other rooms are bigger than the one she’s in now, and they have the best orientation. If not, then let her move out. I’m back, and I didn’t make her leave, so she should be grateful.”

Xu Keke looked at Li Wan again. Li Wan looked at Chen Zikang nervously. She knew Chen Zikang would be unhappy. She was afraid he would get angry.

Huihui looked at them helplessly, seemingly understanding yet not quite.

Until Chen Zikang said, "Someone, move Miss's things to the room next to my study."

Huihui understood, and she burst into tears. She turned and ran out.

A figure emerged from the shadows and gave chase.

Chen Zikang was utterly exhausted. Watching the person chase after him, he closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again, it was impossible to tell what he was thinking.

He looked at Xu Keke wearily.

"Alright, you've been working hard on the ship for days. Let them pack up quickly so you can get some rest. But don't talk like that anymore. Huihui isn't a fake. We've been so grateful to her all these years. What's past is past. You're only ten years old. Children should act like children."

"I'm tired, I'm going to rest now. Huihui will be back soon, so please comfort her. Don't hurt the child's feelings."

These last words were said to Li Wan.

Without waiting for their response, Chen Zikang turned and went to his study. Li Wan knew he was still angry; he would be sleeping in the study again tonight.

Li Wan suppressed her somewhat complicated feelings and instructed the servants waiting outside to tidy up the room.

"Why don't you go to Koura's room and wait there?"
