To recover his memory and life, Xu Keke enters various eras to start a counterattack journey to demand justice for the resentful side characters of era novels.
Rehabilitation is non-existent,...
Xu Keke lay in bed, watching the bright moonlight spill into the room. This world should have been peaceful and tranquil. It was human greed that changed it.
When Huihui went out, she was so nervous that she didn't even dare to tilt her head. So she had no idea that Xu Keke had been awake the whole time.
Seeing how eager she was to leave, Xu Keke guessed they wouldn't linger for too long.
Xu Keke took out the small German-made pistol, the gift Zhang Ye had given her as a token of their meeting, from under her pillow. She rolled out of bed, closed the door from the inside, and prepared to trap him like a turtle in a jar.
Then the person crawled under the bed.
She had been prepared for this from the very first day she arrived at the Chen family, from the moment she showed no intention of yielding. She had been waiting.
Xu Keke simply oversimplified the situation. The house only had two entrances; if Huihui opened the balcony door, it meant the person must have entered from there.
Once the person is inside, she only needs to take advantage of their inattention, aim at their leg, and pull the trigger; that will end the matter.
She could leave the Chen family early because of this. If she's in a good mood, she could cause even more trouble for the Chen family. For example, she could make a big scene and publish a notice in the newspaper severing ties with her father.
Xu Keke didn't have to wait long before there was movement outside. Someone jumped down from the nearby balcony. Judging from the sound of their landing, it was a man, and he was quite heavy.
His figure had just blocked the moonlight from the balcony when he let out a scream.
The mournful sound shattered the tranquility of the night, startling Xu Keke.
"Ah! What is this? Get away, ah!"
A man's terrified scream shattered the silence of the night. Those hiding in the shadows, unaware of what had happened, panicked as well.
Xu Keke inexplicably crawled out from under the bed. The man screaming on the balcony didn't care about anything else, pushed open the door, and rushed into the room with his head in his hands.
The little monkey grabbed his hair, hanging from him, and used its other little paw to scratch the man's exposed skin incessantly.
The man jumped and hopped around in shock and fright.
Without any warning, the little monkey let go of him and ran towards the box on the table, repeatedly banging on the lid.
Its skill was adept; it opened the lid in a few quick movements and took out the pastries that Xu Keke had hidden inside.
Xu Keke didn't have time to stop it. This little monkey, with its strong obsession with food, took out the snack and stuffed it directly into its mouth.
Even if Xu Keke bypassed the man in front of her who hadn't yet figured out the situation and rushed over, she wouldn't know how to stop the monkey.
The monkey's relentless attacks on the man had already unleashed its wild instincts. Xu Keke didn't believe she could subdue it with her bare hands. She feared it would backfire and she might even get hurt.
Fortunately, Xu Keke knew what she was doing with the pastry. It was definitely just laced with a sleeping potion; it wouldn't be fatal. She was still useful to the Chen family; they wouldn't let her die.
The snacks contained a lot of sleeping pills. The little monkey, after eating the snacks, was already swaying back and forth on the table like it was drunk, even before it had finished eating.
Xu Keke sighed. She took the gun and fired a shot into the man's leg. After only two minutes of silence, the man, who was tentatively lowering his hand, collapsed to the ground and screamed in agony once more.
Xu Keke picked up the bed sheet, walked around him, wrapped the little monkey on the table, and put it on the bed.
The man was so focused on his own legs that he didn't notice what Xu Keke was doing behind him.
The knocking outside had turned into banging on the door, and Li Wan was calling her name in a panic.
Xu Keke opened the door, and the Chen family members were standing outside. Li Wan and Chen Zikang were the first to rush in.
"Minghui, Minghui, how are you? Are you alright?"
Li Wan grabbed her arm and looked her up and down carefully.
Chen Zikang walked directly to the man who was still groaning and kicked him to the ground.
"Who are you? Why are you here?"
Xu Keke glanced at the doorway. Huihui's face turned pale with fright, her big eyes wide with terror as she stared helplessly inside.
It seems she did this behind Chen Zikang's back.
Young Master Chen pushed aside Huihui, who was standing at the door, and rushed to Chen Zikang's side. "Big Brother, this is the thief, isn't he? We've been chasing him these past few days, saying there's a thief around here. It must be him."
Chen Zikang turned around alertly and stared at Chen Qi Shao Ye's eyes for a long time.
Xu Keke, still being held by Li Wan, watched the two brothers exchanging glances right in front of her and couldn't help but find it amusing.
Before the brothers could finish their argument, a group of police officers rushed in from outside.
Because of the recent surge in burglaries in this area, the police station has specially assigned a team to patrol the area at night.
Upon hearing the shouts, they had already run this way, and with the gunshots ringing out, they simply stormed into the Chen family's house.
The lead policeman was young, tall and thin, and looked to be in his early twenties. He ignored everyone else, and after finding out who Xu Keke was, he went straight to asking her about the situation.
He was clearly instructed by his superiors.
Before Xu Keke could speak, Master Chen repeated what he had just said to the police.
Xu Keke remained silent, watching him perform with cold eyes.
Unfortunately, the police didn't listen to him and still asked Xu Keke, "Ms. Chen, do you know what's going on here?"
“I fired the gun,” Xu Keke said, showing the police her handgun. “He climbed over the balcony and I just shot him.”
Another older policeman, slightly out of breath from running, strolled over to the balcony to take a look.
He took out a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped his sweat, and said to the young policeman, "Captain Ma, he must have jumped over from the side? And this balcony door, it opened from the inside."
