Quick Transmigration: Era Novel Side Character Aims for Reverse

To recover his memory and life, Xu Keke enters various eras to start a counterattack journey to demand justice for the resentful side characters of era novels.

Rehabilitation is non-existent,...

Chapter One: High School Female Teacher in the 1980s

Xu Keke opened her eyes and sat up, wrapped in the red satin quilt.

Before me was a small room of less than ten square meters. Bright red double happiness characters were pasted on the snow-white walls, and next to them, in a glossy wooden frame, was a wedding photo of the bride in a wedding dress. It was immediately clear that this was a newlywed's room.

The person outside was still gently knocking on the door. Xu Keke quickly reviewed the memories that appeared in her mind. She finally understood what the so-called system meant when it said that she should avenge the female ghost who died with resentment in that era.

After reading about this woman's life, even if the system hadn't said anything, she would have regained her memories and life after completing all the tasks. She also felt an urge to do something for this woman named Du Wenting.

The knocking on the door grew more and more urgent.

Xu Keke looked up at the clock on the wall; it was only six o'clock. Then she glanced at the green-painted door with the red "double happiness" character pasted on it, and her delicate eyebrows furrowed.

The man beside her remained motionless, his eyes tightly closed. Only his eyelashes trembled slightly, his eyes shifting beneath his eyelids. Xu Keke's lips curled into a mocking smile, and with a cold snort, she uttered two words slowly but clearly, "Deserves a scolding!"

Sure enough, the man who had been sleeping fully clothed opened his eyes instantly. He looked at her with an awkward smile, "Tingting, you're awake?"

Ignoring him, Xu Keke got up. She put on her bright red cotton checkered slippers, crumpled up the blanket she had just covered herself with, and threw it onto the chair in front of her desk.

Li Shaojie sat up and pretended to yawn. Scratching his slightly frizzy hair, she asked knowingly, "Tingting, what's wrong? Are you angry?"

Xu Keke glanced at him sideways, "What do you think?"

"No, Tingting, they were the ones who forced me to drink yesterday. I was just happy, that's why I drank too much."

Xu Keke's lips curled into a cold smile. Pretending not to hear the knocking, she didn't mention why he hadn't gone to his room to sleep on their wedding night. Why was he arguing with her about being drunk? What a scumbag.

"You're hard of hearing, aren't you?" Xu Keke yanked the door open. Li Yumei, standing outside, had her hand hanging in mid-air. Seeing Xu Keke's unfriendly expression, she quickly put her hand behind her back.

She immediately realized she seemed to have made a fool of herself, and with a slight tilt of her chin, she said, "Sister-in-law, I... I called you to get up and cook. This is..."

"Why don't you do it?" Xu Keke interrupted expressionlessly.

Unexpectedly, she was directly rebuffed. Li Yumei's almond-shaped eyes widened. "This...this is the rule. On the first day of the wedding, the new bride has to get up early and make breakfast for the whole family. This is the rule."

"Rules? Whose rules are these? What rules are these that let you block someone's door and keep banging on it before dawn? How old are you? Can't you cook for yourself if you're hungry?"

This person always spoke softly and gently, but his sudden outburst of anger left Li Yumei speechless for a long time.

Li Shaojie hurriedly jumped off the bed, ran barefoot to the door, and grabbed Xu Keke's arm, "Tingting, don't be angry. My sister is young and doesn't understand. She meant well, don't take it to heart."

Too lazy to argue with him, Xu Keke shoved Li Shaojie aside and went straight to the bathroom without looking at the two of them.

Li Shaojie pulled Li Yumei into the house, saying, "She's angry, why are you provoking her?"

Li Yumei glanced at the blanket on the bed, her face changing drastically. "Brother, didn't you say yesterday that you definitely wouldn't touch her? I begged you not to touch her for one night, and you couldn't even do it. You even said you didn't care about her. You two have been sleeping in the same bed."

"I knew it. She's from the city and more educated than me. You'd love to marry her, wouldn't you?"

As Li Yumei spoke, she began to sob, overcome with grievance. Her man was clearly hers, yet she had watched helplessly as he married someone else. The more Li Yumei thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, wiping away her tears with the back of her hand.

“I’ve told you so many times, if it weren’t for wanting to stay at the university, I wouldn’t have married her,” Li Shaojie said tenderly, wiping away her tears. Afraid that Du Wenting would hear, he whispered to coax her, “Besides, you know exactly when I went back to the room. I didn’t touch her, I really didn’t. She was already asleep when I came in, and she threw the blanket there herself early this morning. I really didn’t touch her.”

"What are you two talking about?" Xu Keke crossed her arms and leaned against the door.

The sound was like a bolt from the blue, completely stunning Li Shaojie. He turned around stiffly. Seeing Du Wenting looking at him with a half-smile, he felt his heart pounding in his chest.

Xu Keke sneered. If the original owner hadn't wanted to ruin Li Shaojie's reputation, she wouldn't have let this scumbag get away with it so easily. She could make sure his whole family was kicked out right now.

Xu Keke walked past the two people to the cabinet, opened the second drawer, and took out a bar of soap. Only then did she turn back to look at the two people.

"What, it's not finished yet? What are you talking about touching each other?" Xu Keke kindly reminded her.

"No...nothing, I didn't make anything up." Li Shaojie swallowed nervously. "It's, it's Yumei who wanted it. She wanted to clean the house for us. Didn't you say you don't like others touching your things?"

Li Shaojie rubbed his pants, sweat dripping down his face.

Look at how terrified he is! This man, aside from his thick eyebrows and big eyes, who looks like a gentleman, has no guts at all. How dare he come out and commit marriage fraud? Then look at Li Yumei behind him. Although her crying and wailing are annoying to watch, it seems that men like this kind of pitiful look.

She wanted to cry, but I could only make her cry even harder.

Xu Keke kindly explained, "Last time your brother told me that you look dirty because you're dark-skinned. He said you're just idle at home anyway, so he told me not to do any chores and to just ask you to. That way, we won't have to hire a housekeeper. Although your brother and I don't approve of some of your habits, it's not that he thinks you're dirty. I just don't like strangers touching my things. Look, that blanket is mine, don't touch it. Sweep the floor if you need to, wipe the table if you need to. It's okay!"

Not only did they want to use her as a nanny, but the two of them were also gossiping about her behind her back. Tears welled up in Li Yumei's eyes, and she bit her red lips tightly, stubbornly looking at Li Shaojie.

Xu Keke laughed. Living in the original owner's house, yet still thinking of taking advantage of the original owner's family. She didn't believe that Li Shaojie would turn against her for Li Yumei.

Caught in the middle, Li Shaojie gave an awkward laugh, "Yu Mei, Yu Mei will tidy up in a bit."

"That would be best!" Xu Keke said, then grabbed the soap and left.

Li Yumei was truly heartbroken; tears streamed down her face like they were free. She shoved Li Shaojie aside and ran out.

Li Shaojie stood in the room, scratching his head in frustration. Thinking about what Du Wenting had just said, he figured she must not have heard him clearly, otherwise she would have already started making a scene.

Then she thought about how it would be troublesome if she came out and found the house wasn't tidied. So, she decided not to go to sleep, put on her slippers, went to the kitchen, grabbed a rag and broom, and went back to her room.
