They certainly didn't dare eat the meat that the other party sent them.

Jiang Min took the pork that the other party had brought and returned to the restaurant. Cen Yu stood on the shopping street for a while and noticed that pedestrians were appearing one after another. Some people even greeted him and asked him why he was wandering around the restaurant and whether he was neglecting his own shop.

A number of people had gathered in front of some shops, seemingly waiting for the shop owners to open the doors.

Cen Yu returned to the restaurant and told the team about it.

"Are we supposed to play the shop owners?" someone asked.

Each of them entered a shop during their investigation, and now that it's open for business, it's normal for the shop owners to be inside serving customers.

The piece of meat that Jiang Min brought back was placed on the dining table near the door.

The meat looked fine, there was only a small piece, and it looked fresh, but nobody wanted to try it.

“Let’s go back to the DVD store first, and we’ll contact you if anything comes up,” Cen Yu said, gesturing for He Yuxing to stand up and come with him to the DVD store.

The other members of the team also found their first shop and became temporary shopkeepers.

Back at the DVD store, Cen Yu already saw the young man waiting at the door to open it—

"Boss, why are you so late?" one of them complained.

"The boss just went to the restaurant, right?" a girl said. The two seemed to be a couple. She glanced in the direction of the restaurant and then whispered to Cen Yu, "Boss, don't go to that restaurant."

"The meat in that shop is not clean."

Cen Yu pushed open the door and let them in. "Not clean?" he asked. "I saw on the document that he said he would never use any tainted meat."

“That’s what they say.” The girl gave him a look that said, “You’re still too young.” “The meat in his kitchen… comes from that shady factory.”

Cen Yu gestured for them to look around freely, but the girl suddenly became interested in chatting. She looked at Cen Yu and He Yuxing sitting behind the counter and said, "Don't say I told you." She made a shh gesture.

Cen Yu sat behind the counter, looking at the girl leaning on it. "How did you know?"

"You went to the kitchen?"

"Do we even need to go to the kitchen?" The girl gave her a disdainful look. "I can tell by tasting it."

She made a vomiting face, "You'll know as soon as you taste it."

She lay there looking at Cen Yu, then suddenly laughed, "Can't the boss tell the difference?"

“How could you not taste it? Everyone here can taste it.” As she said this, her eyes were fixed on Cen Yu, and as she smiled, the curve of her lips grew wider and wider—

“I’m a vegetarian,” Cen Yu said calmly. “I didn’t eat any meat from their restaurant.”

"Oh." The girl looked at Cen Yu with some disappointment, but her expression returned to normal.

“But boss, I’m not lying to you, there really is something wrong with their meat.” She then went to find her boyfriend, and the two stood there whispering for a long time, seemingly contemplating which DVD to choose.

Finally, he brought out a horror movie and a romantic comedy and presented them to Cen Yu.

Cen Yu opened the ledger in front of him and wrote down the names of the DVDs and phone numbers that the two people had rented.

Cen Yu's gaze lingered on the cover of the horror movie for a moment. The cover was of very poor quality, showing only a hand slapping against glass. The movie's title, "Midnight Wind Chimes," was written in red font, with the font rendered as if it were bleeding to create a terrifying effect.

Another light comedy is "Marrying a Millionaire Boyfriend," which features a man kneeling on one knee holding a ring.

"Has the boss seen these two movies?" the girl suddenly asked.

“I accompanied him to see it,” Cen Yu mumbled, pointing to He Yuxing beside him.

"I found the scene where the wind chimes sounded at midnight in the movie particularly scary," the girl suddenly said. "Boss, do you remember what time the wind chimes sounded in the movie?"

"Here we go again to test him!" Cen Yu thought.

He glanced at the disc cover out of the corner of his eye and saw a line of small print on it—

At 3 a.m., he heard the lingering sound of wind chimes...

"Around 3 o'clock, right?" Cen Yu said, leaning against the counter. After making a note and collecting the deposit, he looked at the girl. "I was with him when he watched it. He got so bored that he fell asleep later."

The girl looked incredulous. "Boss, you're really brave. You can fall asleep while watching such a scary movie."

Her boyfriend muttered a few words, "What's so good about horror movies?"

“This one is really exciting, especially the proposal scene…” he said to Cen Yu, “They even brought out a helicopter.”

Cen Yu pointed to the rent on the blackboard again, reminding them to pay back the money, before the two of them left noisily.

As soon as the two left, the time inside the store began to change rapidly, and when they looked up again, it was already 6 o'clock.

Sure enough, just after the clock struck 6, the street outside the store turned gray again. "It seems that the shopping street only looks normal during business hours."

Cen Yu said to He Yuxing while sitting behind the counter.

He Yuxing's gaze lingered on the door for a moment before she asked, "Why do they keep talking to you about movies?"

Cen Yu didn't think he had such great personal charm that even NPCs in this mutated area would chat with him.

He sat on the recliner, rocking back and forth as he pondered, "Jiang Min runs a restaurant and refuses to sell substandard meat, yet someone is trying to sell him their own pork."

“This is a DVD store. When someone comes in to rent DVDs, they first say that Jiang Min’s restaurant uses substandard meat, which is bought from that exposed substandard factory. Then they start talking to me about the movie plot.”

The shopping street was shrouded in a gray haze, and a strong wind even swept through it.
