Yu Ling: Thank you so much!

He didn't actually want to see the King of Dongli at all. What did the person the original owner served have to do with him?!

However, the resistance was futile.

And so, the fallen King of Dongli and the defeated General Yi reunited in this prisoner-of-war camp.

King Dongli and Yuling sat together, looking at each other. The emotions in King Dongli's eyes were so complex, with sadness, joy at reunion, and even more so, resentment.

General Yi is so powerful, how could he have been defeated?

Yu Ling noticed this and, disregarding his injuries, knelt on one knee to pay his respects. However, his movements seemed somewhat unnatural. He said:

"This humble general has failed to live up to the king's trust and cultivation, and has failed to protect Dongli... Now that I see you are well, I am somewhat relieved. This humble general... is willing to atone for my sins with my death."

"Sigh, get up."

King Dongli said calmly, "They are all unfortunate. They were once of noble birth, but now they are imprisoned here, unable to end their lives in their most glorious moments. They have also lost everything, and all they have left is each other."

The King of Dongli is no longer a king. Apart from Yi Lanbin, the general who once regarded him as his life, who else can he trust after he was exiled to Beishang as a slave?

If the general were to atone with his death, who would serve him in the future?

Thinking this, King Dongli rose and helped Yu Ling up, saying:

"Since it has already happened, General, there is no need to blame yourself too much. I will probably be escorted back to the Northern City of Sorrow soon. Without your company, I will feel uneasy. Therefore, please do not say such discouraging things that would leave me alone..."

Upon hearing this, Yu Ling knelt down again and bowed, saying:

"This humble general...is willing to go through fire and water for my king!" That's impossible. They'll only use you as an excuse to avoid suicide and save their own lives!
