Posted to the Sunset Red Elderly Task Force, Mo Yan is cold and aloof: "It's a small matter."
As the saying goes, filial piety comes from discipline. As for ungrateful brats, you ...
Mo Yan arrived in the new dimension and found herself in a cornfield. The corn wasn't very tall yet, and she was holding a hoe, presumably weeding.
The sun was very strong, and I felt a little dizzy from the heat; it must have been noon.
Mo Yan walked to the big tree next to her and sat down to begin to accept the plot.
The original owner was fifty years old this year, with a son and a daughter, and a husband who only knew how to beat people.
She didn't know how to make money; all she did was drink and gamble. The family relied on the original owner of the body to survive, and she single-handedly raised two children.
During this time, the original owner was beaten badly. Seeing that her children had been admitted to university, she thought about getting a divorce.
She was beaten so badly a couple of days ago that she couldn't get up, so she ran back to her parents' home, where her parents let her help with weeding.
After she finished her work, we told her to go back home, but she didn't want to go out to work anymore.
Unexpectedly, her son called to say he had been in a car accident and wanted to see her one last time. When the original owner ran home, she found out that her family had done it on purpose. Her husband said that he ran away because his leg hadn't been broken yet, but this time he would break her leg.
From then on, the original owner was either beaten or scolded in that house, and even became lame.
He lived a particularly tragic life.
Just then, the original owner's mother arrived, carrying a pot of water and a bowl.
It's 2013 now, and most people are still using candybar phones. The original owner only had a phone to call her two children.
Her son and daughter are both very accomplished; they're now students at prestigious universities. When they came home for vacation and learned their mother had run away, they felt ashamed and tried to bring the original owner back. In the end, they ruined the original owner's life. They even thought the original owner might have said she had someone else, but they refused to admit that they had harmed their mother.
Have you thought it through?
The old lady came over, sat down next to her daughter, and poured her a large bowl of water with some tea leaves in it, giving it a slight flavor, to quench her thirst.
Mo Yan didn't stand on ceremony and took the water, drinking it in large gulps.
"What? Have you figured it out yet?"
Mo Yan was probably asking a question she already knew the answer to, wanting to hear what the original owner's biological mother had to say.
The old lady was furious at Mo Yan's appearance and slapped Mo Yan's shoulder with tremendous force.
"Stop playing dumb with me. You've been here for several days now, and you've finished your work. Hurry up and go home. Everyone's been asking why you haven't gone back after all these days. I told them you were here to help with the work, and now that it's all done, what kind of impression would it make if you didn't go back?"
Mo Yan put down her bowl and looked at the old lady. "Mom, I'm your own daughter. I'm helping your family with chores. I haven't even finished the work yet, and you're already telling me to leave?"
I have to say, this mother is really something else. If she wasn't doing any work, I could understand, but she's busy with this and that every day and still gets kicked out.
"What are you saying? I'm only doing this for your own good. I know you just had a few words with your son-in-law, right? Everyone argues, doesn't they?"
In the old lady's view, this is all normal. Who doesn't quarrel? Who doesn't fight?
“That wasn’t an argument, he was using drinking as an excuse to try to kill me. I’m not going back, and I’m not going to live with him anymore.”
"Nonsense!"
The old lady slapped Mo Yan's shoulder hard again, "What nonsense are you talking about? How old are you? Don't you want to live anymore? Aren't you ashamed?"
Every family goes through this. You'll be arguing all your life. Just take a step back, be patient, and don't argue with him, right?
If you don't make it, what will the people in the surrounding villages think of you, what will they think of your two children? Even if you don't think about us, you should at least think about your two kids.
Mo Yan really couldn't think straight. What was there for her to think about? Two ungrateful wretches who knew exactly what kind of life their mother was living, yet still used false information to wake her up and cripple her father without calling the police?
“I’m barely surviving, who else can I think about? I know I’ve finished my work and I’ll just be in your way at home. Don’t worry, I’ll leave tomorrow.”
Hearing her daughter say that, the old lady was relieved. "Why wait until tomorrow? Go back and leave as soon as you get back. Your father can handle the rest of the work."
Mo Yan: "..." They really are crossing the river and then burning the bridge.
Mo Yan stopped working and decided to leave. She stood up, dusted herself off, and said, "Mom, let's go. What are we waiting for?"
"I mean this afternoon..." The old lady didn't finish her sentence, "Isn't there still a lot of work to be done?"
"It's the same now. Have you cooked yet? I'm starving. I really need your stir-fried pork belly with potatoes."
As Mo Yan walked and ordered food, the old lady's face darkened. "Just eat, why are you eating meat? Don't you know that meat is for your nephew? You're an adult fighting with a child for food, have some shame!"
Anyway, the old lady definitely didn't intend to make cured meat; she would only cook meat on holidays or when guests were coming.
"I've worked for your family for so many days, what's wrong with eating some cured meat? If you don't make it for me, I'll go to the village and tell everyone that I haven't eaten a single piece of meat in all these days. Do you think people will call me a scumbag?"
The old lady's face darkened; this daughter was really going to infuriate her.
The old lady was very concerned about her image, so of course she wouldn't let Mo Yan say that. She quickly went back to cook, boiling cured pork... The old lady's heart actually ached a little. This brat, thinking about eating cured pork even though it's not a holiday, it's really infuriating.
Mo Yan went back with them and sat down to rest. Not long after, her sister-in-law came over, drawn by the smell of cured meat.
"Mo Yan, look how different this daughter is! As soon as you came, Mom was willing to make cured meat. We usually can't even see a piece of lean meat."
That was 2013, and people in rural areas still thought fatty meat was good because it was oily and juicy.
“Sister-in-law, why don’t you help Mom and Dad with the chores for a few days, and then they can improve your diet? I believe they will do that. Can’t you see I’ve been working for several days already? I’m completely exhausted. Can’t I even have some meat?”
Mo Yan isn't the original owner of this body. She's embarrassed to speak, but what's there to be embarrassed about? She hasn't done anything wrong.
Now the sister-in-law was embarrassed. She forced a smile and changed the subject, "Look, I only said one sentence, and you said so much. I was just joking with you, don't take it seriously. Now that everything's done, when are you going back?"
"Are you kicking me out, sister-in-law? I'm not even at your house."
The old lady and her husband separated from their daughter-in-law and started living separately.
"That's not what I meant. I'm just worried about your relationship with your brother-in-law. Men and women shouldn't be separated for too long, otherwise it will affect their relationship."
“I’m just going back to my parents’ home. If he’s not even willing to do this, why should I give him a nice look? Sister-in-law, you must have heard what others were saying. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have rushed over in such a hurry. You could have just said what you wanted to say directly.”
