Posted to the Sunset Red Elderly Task Force, Mo Yan is cold and aloof: "It's a small matter."
As the saying goes, filial piety comes from discipline. As for ungrateful brats, you ...
"No need, we can do it ourselves. We're going to enjoy life together."
The old lady waved her hand dismissively, saying they wouldn't spend that money.
"Mo Yan, we're leaving now, don't worry."
The other aunties looked at Mo Yan and Mo Bai with genuine envy. They had come on their own, while Bai Zhi had her son and daughter accompany her.
The old lady has a beautiful name, Bai Zhi.
This is the name of a Chinese herbal medicine; the old lady's father was a traditional Chinese medicine doctor.
The elderly women boarded the bus and headed to their accommodation, a hot spring resort, where they rented an apartment.
Get up in the morning, climb the mountain to watch the sunrise, have a nice lunch, play cards in the afternoon, and have some barbecue in the evening.
In short, imagination is wonderful, and reality may not be bad either.
Watching the bus leave, Mo Bai was overjoyed. "Sis, let's go eat?"
"Sure."
Mo Yan and Mo Bai went to eat hot pot together, along with Mo Bai's friends.
That was his business partner who ran the auto repair shop with him. They've grown quite large now, with several branches, and are preparing to move towards the high-end market.
"Sis, order whatever you want to eat."
"Sis, want a drink?"
The business partner's name was Han Chen, and he seemed like a very refined young man.
"No, you guys can drink. What brings you to dinner today?"
They are usually very busy and rarely see each other.
"Well... well... it's like this, Han Chen's family wants him to get married, they're pressuring him too much, so they want you to be their fake girlfriend."
"Sister, I absolutely have no ulterior motives towards you. I just don't want to get married. I just want to be alone and make money with Mo Bai. I don't want to get married."
Upon hearing this, Mo Yan felt that something was amiss.
"No way." Mo Yan refused without hesitation. "If you don't want to get married, just talk to your family properly. As long as you make things clear, that's fine. Finding a fake girlfriend? How could you even think of that?"
"Well, I had no choice, did I? My parents have a good relationship, and I can't possibly set them up on blind dates..."
He thought Sister Mo Bai's method was pretty good, but his parents weren't divorced, so he couldn't go on blind dates.
Mo Yan: "..." You really dare to think that way.
"Anyway, I'm not going. You'll have to figure it out yourself," Mo Yan said calmly, looking at him directly.
"All right."
Both of them looked a little disappointed. Mo Yan thought to herself, "These two seem to have a good relationship."
Two days later, Mo Yan received a phone call.
"Sister, you need to go to the hospital quickly. Mo Bai broke his leg, but I can't take care of him."
Mo Yan: ?
Mo Yan went to the hospital immediately and saw Mo Bai with a cast on, lying alone on the hospital bed, looking at something.
Mo Yan walked over and looked at Mo Bai. "What happened to you? Why are you like this?"
"Sister, why is everything in front of me foggy? I can't see the future."
Mo Yan suddenly remembered the boy who said a few years ago, "Don't worry, you have me," and now he has become a man.
"If you can't see it, then so be it. You live in the present, not the future. The future is so far away, who knows what it will be like? You just need to know what you want in your heart."
"It's normal for older people to not understand things. Our grandmother is upset that you won't get married. You have to understand her; she's doing it for our own good. She's worried that no one will take care of us when we're old, and she's afraid you'll be lonely."
Some things don't need to be explained; Mo Bai can understand them on his own.
"Do you think Mom would be furious if she knew what I was thinking?"
"Yes." Mo Yan nodded. "You have to be blunt. You know she can't accept it, so why do you have to tell her? She might not understand, but as long as you don't spell it out and break the ice, she can comfort herself."
Mo Bai, look at me. You should know what the villagers are saying, right? Every time the old lady hears it, she argues with them. She's just worried about me.
So I won't go back. If I don't go back, I won't hear what they're saying, but then she won't argue with them.
Love is mutual. Sometimes we can't only think of ourselves, and titles and status are not always that important.
If you say it out loud, you'll become the target of public criticism. The elderly can't bear those strange looks; people these days really aren't that receptive.
Isn't this good? You are business partners, good friends, and good brothers.
I think brotherhood is the purest bond; good brothers are for life, but couples might divorce.
Mo Yan knew that Mo Bai had the courage to disregard everything, but sometimes courage alone is not enough.
For the elderly, not saying things too explicitly allows them to maintain a sense of hope.
"Sis, I understand. He jokingly said he didn't want to find a woman to marry in the future, and then Uncle and Aunt went crazy and threw a stool at him. I just blocked it, and now I don't know how he is."
Mo Bai actually understood; her sister had figured it out, hadn't she?
"Okay, I'll go check on it. You just stay here and recover."
Mo Yan found someone to take care of Mo Bai before taking her things to Han Chen's house.
Upon seeing Mo Yan approach, the two elderly people burst into tears and grabbed her, starting to sob.
"Mo Yan, that Han Chen is driving me crazy! He wants everyone to gossip about our family!" Han's mother burst into tears when she saw Mo Yan. She couldn't understand why her son would... not want to get married, and even said he'd rather be a bachelor for life.
