The evening dinner was at a private restaurant not far from their hotel, with the main actors all in a large private room.

After taking his seat, Hu Shih realized something was wrong.

The main actors were him, Pei Zhi, and Chi Xiuwen; the rest were the director, assistant director, and other important crew members.

If it's a crew dinner, it doesn't make sense that only the three of them would be sitting in the lead actors' private room.

Chi Xiuwen was still sitting next to Pei Zhi, chatting in her ear.

The two were chatting and laughing, but they didn't seem to get along at all.

The director raised a glass of wine, stood up, and said, "I am very grateful for everyone's hard work since the start of filming. I'll drink to that first."

The director stood up to drink, and everyone else followed suit.

If you can drink it, then drink it; if you can't, just use tea instead.

"Of course, besides thanking you all, there is also a very important person."

The assistant director asked curiously, "Director, who are you talking about?"

"It was because of this person that we had this dinner today. He is our investor, Mr. Xie."

The director pointed to the door of the private room, and the door opened, revealing Xie Cinian walking in, dressed in a bespoke black suit.

Xie Cinian took the initiative to introduce himself, "Hello everyone, I am Xie Cinian."

"Clang."

The moment Hu Shi saw Xie Ci Nian, his legs went weak, and he accidentally dropped the bowl on the table to the ground.

Everyone's attention was focused on Hu Shi.

Hu Shih panicked and couldn't even utter an apology.

The director immediately said, "I'm so sorry, waiter, please come and clean this up quickly."

Hu Shih was seated next to Pei Zhi, and Xie Ci Nian walked straight toward Hu Shih.

"Excuse me, I'd like to sit with my wife."

One sentence, and everyone was shocked.

Hu Shih never imagined that his farewell speech would be so blatantly stated at the annual meeting.

Pei Zhi's expression was calm, making it impossible to discern her inner thoughts.

The director and assistant director exchanged a glance, then frantically tried to wink at each other.

Mr. Xie's wife?

There were several women in their private room.

A stylist is forty years old, and a coordinator is also forty years old.

And then there's Pei Zhi, who's been getting along really well with Chi Xiuwen in private.

Although Chi Xiuwen and Pei Zhi avoided each other on set.

Some things, however, cannot be hidden from the director's eyes.

Upon hearing Xie Cinian's words, Chi Xiuwen blinked and then looked at Pei Zhi.

Chi Xiuwen wondered if he was hallucinating.

What Xie Cinian did next completely disheartened Chi Xiuwen.

Xie Cinian placed his hand on Pei Zhi's head and rubbed it.

"After she married me, she said she was too bored staying at home and wanted to pursue her dream in the entertainment industry."

Xie Cinian continued with a smile, "Although I don't understand, I will try my best to satisfy her every need."

The director seemed to understand something and immediately led the applause.

"Oh my, I really didn't expect that Pei Zhi was Mr. Xie's wife?"

After feigning surprise, the director switched to a reproachful tone, "Pei Zhi, why didn't you tell us sooner? What were you doing keeping it from us?"

Xie Cinian held Pei Zhi's hand and answered for her, "She's probably just shy."

The moment Pei Zhi saw Xie Cinian appear again, she roughly understood the meaning of today's performance.

The director started laughing, and everyone else could only laugh along.

Hu Shi secretly glanced at Chi Xiuwen's side. Since he couldn't hide it anymore, Hu Shi just watched the show with amusement.

Chi Xiuwen's face was indeed terribly dark. Pei Zhi actually got married?

Ha, how ridiculous.

He, Chi Xiuwen, was completely fooled by a married woman.

Chi Xiuwen also wanted to grab Pei Zhi's hand and question her about why she had treated him this way.

Chi Xiuwen also wanted to ask the question openly and honestly, just like Xie Cinian.

But Chi Xiuwen held back.

His actions will only embarrass Pei Zhi.

Letting Pei Zhi's husband know that she has cheated on him will do Pei Zhi no good at all.

Chi Xiuwen chuckled self-deprecatingly. He never imagined that one day he would be deceived and have to put himself in the shoes of the swindler.

Chi Xiuwen picked up the napkin from his lap, threw it on the table, and stood up.

"Excuse me, I'm not feeling well, I have to go now."

The director quickly stood up. "Okay, then go back and get some rest."

"Hold on."

Xie Cinian asked with a smile, "Is this our male lead?"

The assistant director nodded. "Yes, Mr. Chi has won many awards. With him directing this movie, the box office is definitely guaranteed."

"When you're having dinner with investors, won't you come over and offer a toast?" Xie Cinian tapped his glass with his spoon in acknowledgment.

The director and assistant director fell silent instantly.

Toasting investors is a drinking culture from a few years ago.

Nowadays, everyone is civilized, unless it's those low-class investors who are thinking of taking advantage of actresses.

Hu Shih moved his chair to the side; he was really afraid that he would be splattered with blood.

"After investing hundreds of millions, do you really think you're the boss?"

Chi Xiuwen didn't tolerate it and immediately retorted.

"If the investors don't like me, they can just replace me."

The director and assistant director were so nervous they wanted to huddle together, trembling with fear.

Seriously? The production team just replaced the female supporting actress, and now they're replacing the male lead?

Will they be able to continue making this movie?

Xie Cinian sneered, "Teacher Chi has backbone; she looks down on us businessmen."

"However, I'd like to ask, are you not planning to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?"

Xie Ci Nian's words were a blatant threat.
