A certain woman, for some inexplicable reason, became bound to an arrogant and deceptive system. She transmigrates into the bodies of cannon fodder characters in various worlds, fulfilling their wi...
This time, the competition venue was no longer in a neighboring province, but in the capital. Xiang's parents were very worried about Xiang Wan going alone, so they bought three train tickets for the whole family to go, treating it as a vacation.
After seeing Xiang Wan into the competition hall, Xiang's parents strolled around the surrounding area. Xiang Wan had originally wanted to book a tour for them, but they declined, saying that walking around the area was fine and the scenery was quite nice. After thinking about it, Xiang Wan decided to take them to visit historical sites after the competition.
There were a lot of participants. After entering the company building, they had to sign in at the front desk and then draw a random number, which would be called out by staff. Round after round of eliminations were held, and only the final twenty people qualified for the league.
Several hundred people came, and most of them were eliminated in the morning. The remaining people will compete in the afternoon. I learned the day before yesterday that there were several other selection competitions in different places, but they were all in this city. I'll be able to meet with the people from the other competition venues tomorrow.
The computers here are fairly well-equipped, and the servers are powerful, making multiplayer gaming surprisingly smooth. In the afternoon, it was said that some important person was coming, but Xiang Wan didn't pay much attention. She focused on reflecting on her gaming experience, game lag, and keyboard response speed in the lobby's rest area.
Whenever she arrives at a place, if it's not a familiar setup, Xiang Wan carefully considers the differences in these aspects. Sometimes, victory or defeat hinges on these small details.
The only two women in the lounge were Xiang Wan and a short-haired, androgynous girl. Her attire and behavior were masculine; Xiang Wan knew at first glance that she was not someone to be trifled with.
Sure enough, the first match in the afternoon draw was against her. This girl showed no mercy, immediately chasing after Xiang Wan. She also played a swordsman-type character, and her skills and timing were quite good, but still not as good as Xiang Wan's. After all, she had practiced with a master, and she knew the usual moves by heart, so it didn't take her long to kick Xiang Wan off the challenge platform.
After a half-hour break, the draw was held again, and a new round of matches began. Xiang Wan was focused on the game and was unaware that someone was watching them from outside the arena.
"Hey boss, can you even see anything special just by looking at it like this? If you want to know, just ask him directly. Besides, he might not even be here."
"Who said that?"
The handsome man, dressed casually, glanced at the competition venue seemingly indifferently, then fixed his gaze on a certain spot, staring intently at it.
"Please, people who like to do live streaming are either young people or have the typical 'internet celebrity' look, and most of them wear makeup. Those who never show their faces are either extremely ugly or unsightly, and if they only stream games, they're definitely a total homebody. I'm telling you, to maintain that mystery, it's better not to know the truth, so as not to ruin your mood."
"not necessarily!"
"Hey? Don't tell me you've already found him. If he's a rough guy, you'd better not tell me. I'm afraid it will affect my mood for watching the game."
You don't need to know.
"So it seems you really found it? Where is it? Let me see!"
A young, baby-faced man in a floral shirt kept glancing at the competition field, hoping to catch a glimpse of the person the handsome man had mentioned, but the latter abruptly turned his head away.
"Quite free? You can organize the materials this afternoon!"
"Holy crap, do they have no humanity left?"
The handsome man glanced at them, and the man in the floral shirt immediately stood at attention and assured him, "Don't worry, I'll definitely complete the mission!"
It turns out these two are the gaming pro and the incredibly handsome guy, who came here specifically to inspect the competition venue. The pro had already inspected several other venues that morning but didn't find the person he was looking for, so he came here to take a look, and unexpectedly found a pleasant surprise.
After watching Xiang Wan's gameplay for a while, the expert went back to the backend, opened the monitor, and compared the players' skills with hers. He kept a smile on his lips, and a strange light flashed in his eyes.
Xiang Wan focused on finishing the match and, unsurprisingly, became one of the last people left on the field.
After the competition, the staff announced that they would treat everyone to dinner. Everyone else cheered, but Xiang Wan frowned. She was worried about her parents. They had been out all day. She had to compete, and the few times she managed to send a message, it was always to let them know she was safe. It was getting late, and she wanted to go back to be with her parents, so she asked the staff for leave and went out.
The gaming expert, who hadn't seen Xiang Wan, didn't even show his face. He simply instructed the staff to settle the bill later, then returned to his hotel, logged into his game account, and stared at Xiang Wan's name, seemingly lost in thought.
The next day, staff informed us that the organizers had temporarily moved the competition venue to this location, and the competition would begin once all the participants from the other venues had arrived.
Bored, Xiang Wan asked a staff member if she could use the computer for a while. The staff member declined with some difficulty, but then told Xiang Wan that it was possible and led her to an unused computer desk.
Xiang Wan logged into her account, intending to leave a message for the expert and ask for a few more days off to take her parents sightseeing. Unexpectedly, the expert was online at that moment.
"Master, are you there?"
"Um"
"I never expected this."
"What"
"It's quite a surprise to meet you at this time."
You'll get used to it.
"Master, I have a question for you."
"explain"
"Could I ask for a few more days off?"
"What's up?"
"I want to stay a few more days before going back."
The expert looked up, glanced through the glass at the office across the street, and casually asked, "By yourself?"
