A certain woman, for some inexplicable reason, became bound to an arrogant and deceptive system. She transmigrates into the bodies of cannon fodder characters in various worlds, fulfilling their wi...
In five years, Xiao Ming has been promoted from an internist to the chief physician. He sees patients two days a week and spends the rest of his time performing surgeries. Sometimes he goes to other hospitals to observe, or is invited by other smaller hospitals to perform surgeries or give lectures.
Being a doctor seems like a glamorous profession that everyone respects, but to truly achieve excellence in both moral character and professional skills requires an effort that most people cannot comprehend.
Therefore, it's common for many people to sacrifice their families for their work. Those who can balance family and career are extremely rare; after all, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
After the divorce, Xiao Ming's parents did consider having him find someone new, but because he was too busy, or for other reasons, they never ended up together. As for the school beauty, Gan Xiaochen, she has maintained contact with Xiao Ming, but they haven't gotten together yet.
Xiang Wan put the lipstick in her bag, took out a vanity mirror, tidied her hair at the temples, and walked into Guangming Hospital in her high heels.
Today was Xiao Ming's turn to see patients. She had registered early and made thorough preparations before arriving here, ready for an unforgettable reunion with Xiao Ming.
Compared to when she divorced, Xiang Wan now exudes confidence and is well-maintained, no longer resembling the haggard housewife of the past. With her carefully styled appearance, she looks young and vibrant, possessing a more sophisticated charm than when she first graduated from university, though she has lost some of her naivety. Actually, the original owner wasn't bad-looking; just look at Ouyang Baobei, you can tell. She simply didn't care much about her appearance.
It was March, the chill had dissipated, and the weather was neither too hot nor too cold. Xiang Wan wore a long red and white dress, with a navy blue trench coat over it, and a brown belt around her waist. Sunglasses covered most of her face, and her long, flowing hair swayed in the wind as she walked.
With her slender figure and unique gait, Xiang Wan attracted many curious and inquisitive glances as she walked, but she ignored them all.
It was almost eleven o'clock, and she stood quietly waiting outside the clinic.
"Please come into the first consultation room for your appointment, number 38."
After the voice announcement was repeated three times, Xiang Wan finally got up leisurely, pushed open the door, and walked into the consultation room.
Unlike other doctors, the chief physician's office has a separate consultation room. Generally, when seeing a patient, he will not allow other patients to enter until he has finished seeing all his patients.
Xiao Ming sat at his desk, facing the computer, typing something. Beside him was a large stack of diagnostic records and appointment slips.
Upon seeing Xiang Wan enter, Xiao Ming put down his work and asked with a formulaic smile, "Hello, how can I help you?"
The first time she saw him, he wasn't much different from the original owner's memories. Only his handsome brows seemed a little tired, and there were a few gray hairs on his forehead. But this didn't stop Xiang Wan from observing his appearance. Even with a mask on, she could imagine that his thin lips must be dry and slightly pale under the cover, just like when the original owner poured him water and told him to drink it.
Xiang Wan smiled slightly, pulled up the chair next to him and sat down, quickly handing over the appointment number she had been holding in her hand. "Dr. Xiao, I feel a little uncomfortable in my stomach, could you take a look?"
After taking the square appointment number, Xiao Ming glanced at it casually, then suddenly froze. He looked up at Xiang Wan, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, before quickly returning to normal.
"Ms. Ouyang, could you please describe exactly where you feel unwell? The more detailed the better, as it will help me make an accurate diagnosis."
Xiang Wan took off her sunglasses, revealing a pale face that even her exquisite makeup couldn't conceal, with beads of cold sweat on her forehead.
“I’m not really sure either. A few days ago, I suddenly felt some stomach pain, but I didn’t pay much attention to it. I took some painkillers, but they didn’t work. Sometimes I break out in cold sweats at night and can’t sleep at all. I put on makeup before going out today, but my complexion still doesn’t look good. I searched online and there were all sorts of opinions. The more I read, the more worried I became. Dr. Xiao, could you please give me a thorough diagnosis? I can’t get sick, especially not a serious illness. You have to help me. I don’t know what to do now.”
As she spoke, Xiang Wan's eyes began to redden, her restrained yet painful expression making her appear especially pitiful.
Five years later, Xiao Ming still remembers the ruthlessness Ouyang Xiangwan showed when she told him he couldn't have children, and the decisiveness with which they divorced. Just thinking about that scene makes his heart ache, and he doesn't want to touch anything about this woman. He completely shuts himself off from the world, and even seems to have grown weary of romantic relationships.
Not long ago, he had seen this woman beaming with joy at another man's company, and now she came to him feigning pitifulness. Did she think he still had a shred of affection for her? What a joke! She was just trying to gain his sympathy. He'd seen countless such simple tricks of feigning illness; it only seemed slightly better after she started wearing a mask. Now, this woman was putting on this act in front of him—what was she really up to?
Xiao Ming's expression remained unchanged, devoid of any emotion. "I suggest you see a gynecologist; the doctors there are more professional than I am, an internist."
"What do you mean?" Xiang Wan pretended not to understand.
"Every woman feels unwell for a few days every month, and the symptoms are exactly the same as your description. There's no need to waste your appointment to see me. A gynecologist can handle it perfectly well, or a few cups of brown sugar water will also do."
Xiang Wan was stunned for a moment, her face turning as pale as snow. "Dr. Xiao, you know I used to study medicine. I can easily deduce what symptoms correspond to what illnesses. Since I've come to you, it must not be an ordinary illness. If you don't believe me, you can look at my medical records."
She reached into her bag and rummaged through it, but couldn't find the medical record book. So she simply dumped everything on her desk and started searching through it one by one.
