Chapter 495 Taboo (Seventeen)

At this moment, Xiang Wan was impeccably dressed, with a fair complexion, gentle features, and an air of refined elegance. Her tall figure stood in the hall like a beautiful sight, and from that moment on, Lou Junxuan saw no one else.

This was a situation he never dared to dream of, yet it suddenly appeared before his eyes, and for a moment, Lou Junxuan's heart stopped beating.

It wasn't until Chen Xiangmei spoke that he belatedly realized that the person his mother had excitedly called him back on the phone wasn't Xiang Wan, but someone beside him.

"Quickly change your shoes and go greet the guests."

"Junxuan, you're back? We've been sitting here for a while and were about to say goodbye."

Cui Shiwan spoke in a familiar tone, and Lou Junxuan's eyes showed a hint of displeasure, but he did not show it.

But the displeasure in Xiang Wan's eyes was very obvious.

"Wanwan, it's time to say goodbye. It's so late, don't disturb their rest."

Xiang Wan got up and helped Cui Shiwan pick up her bag, her intention to leave was quite clear.

Chen Xiangmei couldn't wait for evening to leave, but she didn't want Cui Shiwan to come with her, so she said, "Sit a little longer, and Junxuan will take you home later."

"Wanwan is my girlfriend, so there's no need to trouble anyone else."

These words were like a thunderclap, leaving Lou Junxuan almost breathless.

What is Lou Xiangwan saying? When did he get a girlfriend?

She had considered a thousand ways to break up with Xiang Wan, but she never imagined that her younger brother would bring up his girlfriend directly. Was he trying to completely sever his hopes?

Don't even think about it!

Seeing Cui Shiwan, even though Lou Junxuan knew that a relationship between her and Xiang Wan was impossible, the pain in his heart was real. Even knowing that this was just Xiang Wan's deception and lies, he still couldn't accept it.

The more Xiang Wan resisted and tried to escape, the more certain Lou Junxuan became of what he truly wanted.

If Xiang Wan's rejection hadn't been so harsh, perhaps Lou Junxuan would have needed more time to accept his true feelings.

But now...

Xiang Wan saw the deep look in Lou Junxuan's eyes, and the hairs on her body stood on end.

She didn't seem to say anything strange, so why did Lou Junxuan react this way?

Cui Shiwan's attention was focused on Lou Junxuan. How could she not recognize such a familiar gaze?

His heart had grown cold to the extreme, leaving only revenge and hatred.

"Kevin is right, we should go."

"What's the rush? Miss Cui has been so devoted to my parents, how can I not repay her in kind? How about this, it's my treat, let's go to the nearby Elec for a late-night snack. I've heard that the snacks there are exquisite, and my younger brother really enjoys them."

Lou Junxuan didn't even enter the door; he simply stood to the side at the entrance and gestured for Cui Shiwan to enter.

Chen Xiangmei wanted to say something more, but seeing Lou Junxuan's determined gaze, she swallowed her words.

She wasn't a domineering woman; otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to get along with Lou Jing for so many years without any problems. Even if she had other thoughts about her son's decision, she would never contradict him in front of outsiders. So she stood up and saw him off with some regret.

The gift wouldn't have been given to Xiang Wan, and Xiang Wan wouldn't care about such things.

She followed Cui Shiwan out the door, passing by Lou Junxuan. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, a warm sensation brushed past her ear.

Xiang Wan didn't turn around, and Lou Junxuan stepped aside and closed the door. The instant the door locked, Xiang Wan vaguely heard a heavy nasal sound, and a chill ran down her spine.

A cool night breeze blew. After the car came to a stop, Xiang Wan dutifully took Cui Shiwan's coat from the car and draped it over her shoulders. Then, she followed Lou Junxuan into the dessert shop he had mentioned.

By this time, the shop was almost empty. As soon as they entered, the waiter immediately perked up and approached them with the dessert menu.

"I'm on a diet, so I'll just have a glass of hot milk. You guys can order whatever you want, don't worry about me."

Cui Shiwan waved her hand and placed the menu in front of Xiang Wan.

At this point, Xiang Wan didn't have much of an appetite, so she ordered a cup of coffee to kill time.

Lou Junxuan didn't stand on ceremony and ordered several desserts, all of which were the original owner's favorite flavors.

Not only Xiang Wan frowned, but Cui Shiwan also frowned.

"I didn't know Junxuan liked to eat these things."

Cui Shiwan said this on purpose, her heart no longer stirred by anything.

In her past life, after Lou Xiangwan died, Lou Junxuan often ate this. Only later did she realize that these were Lou Xiangwan's favorite foods when she was alive. Even though she was gone, she couldn't compare to a dead person in Lou Junxuan's heart.

If I can't have it even after being reborn, then I'll destroy it all!

Her drooping eyelids concealed the madness in Cui Shiwan's eyes.

Lou Junxuan smiled but didn't say a word.

The waiter took the bill and left. Lou Junxuan spoke, his voice as mellow and deep as ever.

"So that's what Miss Cui meant this morning."

Cui Shiwan remained noncommittal, while Xiang Wan looked out the window. In that inconspicuous corner, a DSLR camera was waiting.

Xiang Wan kept staring at that spot, making the camera owner a little uncomfortable. He picked up the camera and tried to focus it several times, but eventually put it down silently, telling himself that it was just a coincidence and that it would be fine in a while.

Xiang Wan smiled slightly in that direction, but still didn't move her gaze.

Lou Junxuan and Cui Shiwan started discussing business, but Xiang Wan didn't want to listen. When the coffee arrived, she buried her head in shaking it, seemingly lost in her own world, until a dessert was placed in front of her.

"Have some, it tastes great."

The deep purple blueberry jam, drizzled on the triangular mille-feuille cake, looked beautiful. But Xiang Wan had no appetite whatsoever.
