Chapter 66 What a pair of lovebirds (Part 6)

"What kind of person do you think he is?"

Xiang Wan spoke in a casual tone, without any emotion, as if she had asked the question unintentionally.

Liu Zixi paused, turned her head to look at Xiang Wan, her eyes filled with doubt.

“From the time I met him until just now, I realized that I don’t seem to fully understand him.” Xiang Wan thought for a moment, then said, “You two get along quite well, can you tell me about it?”

"Sister, you...?"

"It's okay, just say whatever you want, I want to know!"

Xiang Wan's tone was confident, but Liu Zixi was a little uncertain and hesitated before asking, "Sister, you just got married today. Won't saying these things affect your life?"

"You'll find out sooner or later. I want to hear what you have to say. Are you hiding something from me?"

Xiang Wan made a small joke, but it made Liu Zixi stiffen.

"No, sister, don't make wild guesses. Brother-in-law is a good person."

As Liu Zixi spoke, her voice grew softer, prompting Xiang Wan to chuckle.

"Oh? How so?"

"Exactly, he's just very thoughtful. Look, your husband prepared everything for the wedding banquet, from the etiquette and procedures to the invitations. You just need to enjoy yourself, isn't that great?"

Liu Zixi seemed somewhat dissatisfied with Xiang Wan's attitude, and his tone was a bit sharp. Xiang Wan raised an eyebrow, seemingly agreeing with him, and nodded.

"Hmm, that seems to be the case. Is there anything else?"

"Well, also, my brother-in-law manages such a large group and has an extraordinary status. There are so many beautiful women around him, but he has never even glanced at them. He is devoted to you alone. Isn't that enough?"

"Yes, that's right. Is there any more?"

“My brother-in-law is very good to us. Look, he’s very kind to our parents and me, his younger brother. It’s all because of my sister, doesn’t that count?”

"I guess so. Is there anything else?"

"Also, my brother-in-law has a great physique and is handsome. He's the most eligible bachelor in everyone's eyes. He's aloof to others, but he's different with us. Does that count?"

Liu Zixi spoke as if reciting a familiar story, which made Xiang Wan glance at him sideways. It seemed that his affection for Nangong Chen was much higher than she had imagined.

Xiang Wan sat up straight, removed Liu Zixi's hand, stared into his eyes, and said, word by word, "Zixi, I want to hear something different!"

"This..." Liu Zixi's eyes darted around, and she straightened up and sat back. "Sister, are you...?"

"Hahaha," Xiang Wan chuckled mischievously, patting the sofa, "Just kidding, you actually took it seriously?"

Liu Zixi's face darkened, and her lips twitched: "It's not funny at all."

"Seeing that you and your brother-in-law have a good relationship makes me feel relieved." Xiang Wan patted Liu Zixi's hand and grinned at him. "You're part of my dowry. If Nangong Chen treats you badly, I'll teach him a lesson!"

Liu Zixi blushed and retorted, "Who said you're my dowry?" Her eyes, which were slightly touched but also tinged with guilt, lowered when Xiang Wan looked over, her expression unreadable.

The brief break passed quickly amidst their banter. Nangong Chen's assistant, Xiao Chen, brought Xiang Wan a formal dress.

"Madam, the president is waiting outside. Please change your clothes as soon as possible!"

"Just leave it there, I'll change my clothes and then go out."

After Liu Zixi and Xiao Chen left, Xiang Wan stood up, picked up her clothes, and went to the dressing room.

This time, Nangong Chen chose a beige cheongsam for her, embroidered with a golden phoenix, which accentuated her figure beautifully. Xiang Wan twirled around in front of the mirror a few times, quite satisfied, before turning and leaving the room.

A black sedan stopped downstairs. Xiang Wan walked over, opened the car door, and got in.

Nangong Chen glanced at Xiang Wan, and after she was settled, the driver started the car and drove out of the manor.

Neither of them spoke the rest of the way. Nangong Chen seemed lost in thought, staring straight ahead, while Xiang Wan gazed absently out the window.

What's wrong with you today?

"Huh?" Xiang Wan was surprised that Nangong Chen would speak, and turned her head in confusion.

"It's not quite the same as usual."

Nangong Chen remained seated, without even turning his head. His brows were slightly furrowed, and his tone was flat, as if he were talking about something insignificant.

"Things are naturally different after marriage."

Xiang Wan didn't bother to look at her, leaned back, and found a comfortable position to sit down.

Nangong Chen turned his head and stared intently at Xiang Wan. "They say women are fickle, and today I, Nangong Chen, have truly witnessed it."

“You men are the same,” Xiang Wan replied lazily.

Aren't you looking forward to our wedding?

“Every unmarried woman looks forward to it. But looking forward to it is one thing, but when the time comes to actually hold the wedding, all that’s left is exhaustion, and it’s better not to have one at all.”

Xiang Wan spoke in a flat tone, as if she were talking about something trivial.

Upon hearing this, Nangong Chen's face darkened, and he spoke again, his tone clearly filled with anger: "You woman, you really don't know anything!"

"Heh, it's rare to see you, Nangong Chen, get angry. That's quite a sight!"

"If you don't want to get married, you should have said so earlier!" Nangong Chen's eyes blazed with anger, his hands clenched tightly.

"What, you wouldn't have married me if I'd told you earlier? Don't think I don't know what you're thinking."

Xiang Wan, feeling emboldened, successfully provoked Nangong Chen to anger once again.

"get off!"

The driver slammed on the brakes, and Xiang Wan nearly crashed into the seat in front of her.

After patting her chest and settling into her seat, Xiang Wan turned around and saw Nangong Chen glaring at her, showing no intention of getting out of the car. Only then did she belatedly realize that he wanted her to get out.

"Don't be angry, I was just joking with you." Xiang Wan smiled at Nangong Chen, but instead of changing his attitude, it seemed to be getting worse, which gave her a headache.
