Yang Suiyi is a total homebody whose favorite pastime is writing novels on various websites. However, she inevitably abandons every single one, earning curses from countless readers while gleefully...
"What's wrong? Why are you spacing out?" Seeing that the girl had been spacing out since he asked her the question, her uncle affectionately reached out and ruffled her hair, asking her tenderly.
Suiyi's thoughts were interrupted when her hair was ruffled, waking her from her reverie.
"Uncle, I was thinking about how to deal with those things later!" Suiyi said coquettishly, pouting.
"Did you hear what your uncle just said?"
“Listen carefully. I thank Uncle for his kindness. But Qiuqiu, think about it, why would someone who has no relation to us do things for us? So we should try to do what we can ourselves, that way we will feel a sense of accomplishment.”
Sui Yi doesn't really want to interfere in other people's lives. Although she came to this world, she never criticizes the male and female leads. They aren't that anxious about her, and she's glad that although her mission is quirky, it's not the kind that requires breaking up couples. So, she can just live her own life! Being a supporting character for someone else is not her style.
Although I abandoned all the novels I wrote, thankfully the male and female leads didn't fall apart. Their destinies are their own, and I will never interfere to change them. Everyone is the protagonist of their own life and a supporting character in someone else's; we are merely products of cause and effect.
"Alright then, Uncle will do whatever you say!"
After they finished speaking, the two of them headed towards the kitchen. Once inside, the scene was indeed quite bloody. The uncle secretly observed Suiyi's expression and was relieved to see that she remained calm.
Sui Yi had seen far more gruesome scenes, so this was just a minor incident.
"Are you all done?" Uncle Suiyi walked in and asked, looking at the people who were dealing with the interstellar beasts.
"Reporting to General, we've taken care of everything; we've even dug out the bullets. So, what should we do now?"
The uncle looked at Suiyi, his eyes asking what she needed to do.
"Help me break these into pieces, add some salt, put them in a container, and then use a high flame to extract oil from this white layer. Also, just throw away the rest!"
"Okay!" Although he didn't know exactly what the young lady was going to do, he still obeyed.
"What is your intention in doing this..." Thor asked, unsure of the purpose.
“This white layer is actually fat, which can be used to extract essential oils. It might taste a bit strange, but it seems like you can’t cook without it. The other thing is meat that’s been salted, which I plan to turn into cured meat. That is, I’ll soak the meat in salt first, and then roast it over a fire. This way, it can be stored for a longer time. And I estimate that this amount will last me for half a year,” Sui Yi explained.
There's no other way; these are the only things we can do right now. It's the interstellar era. Food is extremely scarce, and restoring the levels of life we had on Earth is impossible. I'm not the female lead, nor am I a chosen one of the gods. I wish I'd been given a farming-like cheat code. Otherwise, I wouldn't have to worry about food.
"Okay, whatever you like, I'll do whatever you say."
"Let's go outside!"
"Okay!" After giving the instructions, the two left.
"Oh, right, girl, there's something else I need to tell you. The academy's assessment is in a few days. Have you thought about taking the exam to prove yourself?"
"Assessment? What are the benefits?"
"Actually, the academy's assessment is just a check on the results of your learning over a period of time. Those who do well not only benefit in terms of reputation, but also receive a mid-level spiritual source as a reward from the academy, which is used to enhance one's spiritual power. Girl, you know that operating a mecha requires a lot of spiritual power to support you, so the strength of one's spiritual power determines whether one succeeds or not. The stronger one's spiritual power, the stronger one is, and one's status can change accordingly."
"I still don't think I'll go to the assessment; it's not very meaningful. As for the spiritual source you mentioned, it's an energy crystal extracted from the brains of interstellar monsters. Did any of the ones I caught have that?" Thinking of this, Suiyi asked.
"I checked, and it's not there. Generally, only high-level spiritual beasts can produce that thing, such as king-level interstellar beasts."
"Alright! I won't take the assessment. Uncle, you know that with my current abilities, taking the assessment would just be bullying others. I don't care what others think of me. We should keep a low profile."
Ah Xing: Pfft, who is it that's always showing off? Being low-key has nothing to do with you, okay?
"Alright! Hiding her strength is fine!" Uncle nodded. He forgot that what she did wasn't a low-key approach, but rather as high-profile as could be. Now the entire academy is speculating about this incident.
A few days later, the atmosphere of discussion hadn't yet died down in the academy. People were chatting enthusiastically. In a mecha training room, someone, sweating profusely and exhausted, crawled out of the mecha and sat on the ground to catch his breath.
"You know what? I haven't seen our sickly beauty at the academy for the past few days. Didn't we hear she was found?" A lively boy handed a recovery potion to the man sitting on the ground and said to the person sitting by the window.
"Tch, your news is really outdated. There's a rumor that she actually went to a desolate planet during the two days she disappeared, and luckily came back alive. Not only that, I heard that when she returned, her spaceship was carrying many corpses of interstellar beasts, and the ship was covered with the iron feathers of mutated roc birds."
