Yang Suiyi is a total homebody whose favorite pastime is writing novels on various websites. However, she inevitably abandons every single one, earning curses from countless readers while gleefully...
The group went to the inner hall together. Lao Ba squatted down and reached out to touch Sui Yi's forehead. He found that she had a fever and immediately ordered the other beggars to do their work.
"Eldest brother, go fetch some water from the river. Second brother, start a fire. Third brother, prepare our water pot. Fourth brother, find my clothes. Sixth and seventh brothers, take the few copper coins we got a few days ago and go to the village to find the barefoot doctor." The eighth brother gave all the instructions in one breath.
He reached out and touched Suiyi's clothes, only to find some areas very damp. He frowned and touched further, discovering that her undergarments were wet. It turned out these idiots hadn't changed Jiu Mei's clothes.
"Why didn't you change Ninth Sister's clothes after she fell into the pond?"
"Because we are all boys, and Ninth Sister is a girl, it concerns the reputation of a young lady," Fifth Brother replied.
"Are you all stupid? Can't you find a woman to change Ninth Sister's clothes? Ninth Sister is burning up like this, it's too late to find someone now. All of you, get out and do your own things. No one is allowed to come in without my permission."
"Eighth Brother, are you going to change Ninth Sister's clothes?" Fifth Brother asked.
"As long as you don't tell anyone, no one will know. If Ninth Sister wakes up and asks, just say that a passing aunt changed her clothes, understand?"
"I remember."
"Go do your work," said Lao Ba, shooing them out and changing Sui Yi's wet clothes. Lao Ba was actually nervous; after all, he was already fourteen, and Jiu Mei was ten. Although he had raised her himself, she hadn't let him change her clothes since she became more sensible. Lao Ba trembled as he removed Jiu Mei's clothes, closing his eyes and feeling her skin as he changed her. Sometimes he would accidentally touch her skin, and he would shudder. After a few stumbles, he finally finished changing Jiu Mei's clothes, but he was covered in sweat.
Are you ready?
"Yes, everything is done," said the fifth brother.
"You can come in now. Fifth brother, find a handkerchief, put it in the pot, and bring it over to me."
"Okay." The fifth brother brought in the pot, and the eighth brother wrung out a cloth and wiped the ninth sister's face to cool her down.
"Eighth brother, will this work?" the third brother asked.
"This can only temporarily relieve the symptoms. To fully recover, you still need to take medication."
When the sixth and seventh brothers returned, they didn't manage to find a doctor; instead, they brought back a packet of medicine.
"Eighth Brother, the doctor isn't home, so we bought a packet of medicine," said Sixth Brother.
"It's alright. Go and brew the medicine for Ninth Sister. I'm going out to find some more herbs. Just keep an eye on her from now on. If she still has a fever after taking the medicine, use the method I just described to bring her down." With that, he got up and left the dilapidated temple.
An hour later, the medicine was ready. The eldest brother brought the medicine over and gave it to Suiyi, then waited for Ninth Sister to wake up.
Sui Yi's mind was still focused on planning how to deal with the system. She considered many ideas, but ultimately rejected them all, feeling they weren't cruel enough or impactful enough. Finally, Sui Yi gave up, deciding to learn more about methods of dealing with people in future mission worlds. Sui Yi's consciousness slowly returned to reality.
