After an accidental death, Shi Lan travels through various worlds to help those female supporting characters who were cannon foddered achieve their wishes and live anew.
She experiences vario...
Shi Lan was studying the attack trajectory along the marks on the stone pillar when she heard You Yue's words and couldn't help but look up at Jian Shu.
Someone is exhibiting unusual phenomena? Who could it be? How come she hasn't heard of this?
Jian Shu glanced quickly at Shi Lan, who was looking at him curiously, and said, "Fellow Daoist You, you must already know who that person is. So why ask when you already know the answer?"
You Yue grinned and said, "I'm afraid some people might not realize it and mistake a bad person for a good one."
Jian Shu's face suddenly turned extremely ugly. His lips moved a few times, but he didn't know what to say, so he could only retreat in a sorry state.
Shi Lan looked around, not understanding what kind of riddle the two were playing.
You Yue bowed politely to Shi Lan and strode away from the main hall.
Jingkong quietly peeked out from behind the palace, revealing half of his bald head. He coldly observed the undercurrents that were beginning to emerge from the various sides, a chilling smile playing on his lips.
The group gathered at the square again. From there, they could see several mountain peaks connected to the back. Xu Qing and the others had already made arrangements: each sect would send a few disciples, each acting as a leader or captain, to set off in one of the six directions.
Shi Lan was assigned to the team led by Jing Kong. Looking at the row of shiny bald heads in front of her, Shi Lan was speechless.
Liu Minde, who happened to be assigned here, noticed her slightly furrowed brows and quickly moved closer. "Lan Ya, you really don't remember me?"
Shi Lan glanced at him indifferently.
Even though I've stopped paying attention to him, he keeps trying to get close to me. Could it be that he's regretting it?
Thinking of the original owner's wish, Shi Lan smiled slightly.
But that's not enough.
"Of course I remember."
Liu Minde's back stiffened, and the smile on his face immediately became awkward.
Shi Lan looked at his slightly panicked and uneasy expression with appreciation, and said slowly and methodically, "Fellow Daoist Liu is the prized disciple of the former sect leader of Yunmeng Sect, and also his most satisfactory son-in-law."
"Ah, yes," Liu Minde smiled awkwardly, suppressing the sudden disappointment and relief he felt after hearing the answer.
Two steps away, Zhang Dongji quietly approached.
Shi Lan glanced at him and noticed the tension on his face, which surprised her.
Zhang Dongji tilted his head and looked at Liu Minde, hesitating before speaking.
Shi Lan understood, turned her head and nodded to Liu Minde, then followed Zhang Dongji to the back of the group.
Liu Minde turned his head to look at the two strange-looking people. Although he was curious, he knew that it was not the right time yet. Recalling the intimacy between himself and Lan Ya in the past, Liu Minde sighed inwardly.
At the back of the line, Shi Lan asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"
Zhang Dongji glanced ahead cautiously, and only after confirming that no one was paying attention to him did he say, "Junior Sister Shi, I feel like there's something wrong with our team."
Shi Lan looked up and asked softly, "Something's not right?"
Zhang Dongji said, "Junior sister, you don't know, but since I was a child, my ears have been different from others. I can hear sounds that others can't hear, and I can feel vibrations that others can't feel."
Upon hearing this, Shi Lan glanced sideways at his ear.
They both have one ear canal and one auricle, so there's no difference.
Zhang Dongji felt her gaze and, feeling embarrassed, tugged at his earlobe, saying, "You know about the Spirit-Devouring Bat, right?"
Shi Lan nodded.
The Spirit-Eating Bat is a spirit beast without eyes, hunting prey entirely by listening.
Zhang Dongji said, "I think my ears are somewhat similar to those of a spirit-eating bat."
Shi Lan suddenly realized, "Then what did you hear?"
Zhang Dongji said, "That's the strange thing. I just noticed that the monks in front of us were moving their lips, but there was no spiritual energy fluctuation around them."
After speaking, Zhang Dongji looked at Shi Lan, and Shi Lan looked at Zhang Dongji in return.
After a moment of silent staring, Shi Lan finally couldn't hold back and asked, "So?"
Zhang Dongji's lips moved, and he silently uttered a sentence.
Shi Lan heard his explanation: "This means they are not transmitting sound, but rather using the more secretive mental language of Buddhism."
Shi Lan looked completely bewildered.
Before Zhang Dongji advanced in his cultivation, he once took on the task of guarding the library, so he had some knowledge of the secret techniques of various sects.
“The most important point of Buddhist Mind Language is mutual understanding. To achieve this, you must live together since childhood and understand each other thoroughly, and completely open your heart. Only then is there a 30% chance of success,” Zhang Dongji said. “Junior Sister Shi, there are ten people in our team who have achieved Mind Language.” He stared at Shi Lan intently. “Do you think this is normal?”
After hearing the telepathic message, Shi Lan's eyes turned solemn.
Indeed, it would be rare to find even three or five such people, let alone so many gathered here. Shi Lan would never believe that the Buddhist sect had no ulterior motives.
But what exactly does Buddhism want?
Magical artifact? Elixir? Or cultivation technique?
Shi Lan quickly thought through what she needed, but still couldn't come up with a solution.
Zhang Dongji tugged at Shi Lan's sleeve and asked, "Junior Sister Shi, what should we do?"
Shi Lan shook her head and said, "I don't know what to do either, let's just follow along for now."
Zhang Dongji sighed softly and said, "Alright."
The two trailed silently at the back of the line, the lush green leaves rustling on both sides of the road. Shi Lan suddenly remembered that it was You Yue's words. She glanced at the dejected Zhang Dongji and decided that she should help him distract himself.
"Senior Brother Zhang, I've heard that a genius has emerged in our sect?"
Zhang Dongji nodded, his head bowed.
Shi Lan asked curiously, "You know? Who is that person? Have I seen him before?"
Zhang Dongji paused, looking up at Shi Lan in surprise.
Shi Lan looked at him innocently, her face blank.
