After an accidental death, Shi Lan travels through various worlds to help those female supporting characters who were cannon foddered achieve their wishes and live anew.
She experiences vario...
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Zhang Xiaomei had just put breakfast on the table when a rustling sound came from the doorway, followed by a man's soft, clear voice, "Good morning, ladies."
Shi Lan paused in wiping her face, without turning around.
Zhou Bin ran to the door to check, but Zhang Xiaomei waved him back and wiped his face and hands.
The man waited quietly for a while, and probably realized that he was not welcome, so he fell silent.
Shi Lan and the other two sat down, and had just picked up the crispy fried bread slices, before they could even eat them, when they heard the sound of screeching brakes from outside.
A voice that was all too familiar to her pierced through the thin metal door and drifted into her ears. Shi Lan frowned. She hadn't expected that after being delayed for so long, she would still run into them here.
Shi Lan took a deep breath, stuffed the steamed bun into Zhou Bin's hand and said, "Eat quickly, or there won't be any left."
Zhou Bin blinked, looking bewildered, and asked her, "Why is there no food left?"
Shi Lan took a big bite of the steamed bun and added some mixed vegetables, saying, "Because bad guys have come outside. If you don't hurry, they'll snatch all the food."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Bin's eyes widened suddenly, as did his small mouth.
Zhang Xiaomei didn't know how Shi Lan could be so certain that they would steal things without even seeing them, but she trusted Shi Lan.
"Don't stand there, eat quickly," Zhang Xiaomei nudged Zhou Bin, hurriedly scooping some mixed vegetables into his porridge bowl, then took two slices of steamed bun and two pancakes, and put away the rest of the porridge and vegetables without waiting for Shi Lan's instructions.
Zhang Xiaomei's movements were swift and decisive. Shi Lan only had time to snatch a pancake before she couldn't even take a bite of the mixed vegetables before it was all gone.
Zhou Bin held the bowl of porridge and sensibly handed it to Shi Lan, saying, "Sister Shi, here you go."
Shi Lan patted his head but didn't answer: "You guys hide inside. Zhou Bin, protect Sister Zhang later."
Zhou Bin nodded repeatedly and obediently followed Zhang Xiaomei into the kitchen.
The roller shutter door outside was pulled up, and Shi Lan reflexively grabbed the triangular spike that was placed on the table, instantly becoming as taut as a bowstring ready to be released.
Two men were pulling the door shut on either side, and a woman with long, flowing hair was swaying gracefully as she walked in.
When Shi Lan saw the newcomer, her eyes narrowed instantly, and her fingers unconsciously rubbed the slightly protruding handle of the Mitsubishi Spike.
The newcomer's expression changed upon seeing Shi Lan, and his voice instantly became shrill, "Shi Lan, you're not dead yet?"
"You're not dead, so why can't I be alive?" Shi Lan chuckled and took two steps forward, looking him up and down. "It's been a few days, and you seem to be doing quite well. It seems the zombies are particularly fond of you."
Before Shi Lan could finish speaking, Liu Hui's face had already turned ashen. Thinking of how the zombies reeked of stench and how their grotesque fingers scratched at her as if they wanted to devour her alive, she couldn't help but shudder.
At the door, Minghao stared at Shi Lan with a look of surprise and delight. "You're still alive, that's wonderful."
Shi Lan glanced at him coldly and nodded perfunctorily.
Seeing that Minghao hadn't held Shi Lan accountable for causing everyone to fall into the zombie horde, Liu Hui's expression changed again. "Minghao, what do you mean? Don't forget how Dabao died."
Minghao felt a little awkward, but still tried to smooth things over: "Alright, we all saw what happened. Da Bao's death was an accident, so how can we blame Shi Lan?"
"If she hadn't dragged me out, would Da Bao have followed me?" Liu Hui questioned.
Minghao turned his head away and didn't say anything.
He saw her and Shi Lan fall out of the car at the same time. To be honest, he had no idea who took whom off with them. The only person in the same space as them died. The truth has been verified.
Liu Hui's eyes suddenly reddened, and her slender white finger pointed at Minghao in disbelief. "So, you said you would avenge Da Bao before, but now that you've found him, you're pulling this stunt on me again. Are all men like you, denying everything once they've done their bidding?"
Shi Lan sneered and turned to look at Ming Hao. It seemed that the two of them had gotten together again.
Minghao's face flushed red. He shoved away Liu Hui, who was eager for revenge, and grabbed Shi Lan anxiously. "Shi Lan, let me explain. That night was an accident. I thought something bad had happened to you, and I was in a bad mood. She took advantage of my drunkenness and... she..."
Shi Lan took half a step back, dodging his hand, and said nothing.
Minghao's eyes were filled with anxiety, and his face was full of sadness and disappointment. "I've known you since we started dating that you are a pure and innocent girl. I understand that you can't accept my behavior this time. But Shi Lan, I... I really know I was wrong. Please give me another chance, considering how sad I am for you."
Shi Lan remained silent, looking at him with a hurt expression on her face.
Minghao gritted his teeth, then, with a sudden resolve, knelt on the ground and slapped himself hard across the face. "I told you not to drink, I told you not to drink, I told you not to betray your fiancée who was so good to you. You deserve it, you deserve to die..."
The crisp slaps rang out repeatedly. Liu Hui stared blankly at Minghao, somewhat unable to accept it.
Shen Chen, who had been watching coldly from the sidelines, opened his mouth in astonishment. Just as he was about to go over to stop her, he saw Liu Hui come to her senses and pounce on Ming Hao.
"Brother Hao, what are you doing?"
Minghao shoved her away and said coldly, "Get out of my way. This is between us, it has nothing to do with you."
Tears welled up in Liu Hui's eyes as she tugged at him, saying, "How can it have nothing to do with me?"
Minghao stared at her coldly, his voice as icy as ice, "If you keep causing trouble, then leave. We can't tolerate you here."
