After an accidental death, Shi Lan travels through various worlds to help those female supporting characters who were cannon foddered achieve their wishes and live anew.
She experiences vario...
More than half a month has passed in the blink of an eye, and Shi Lan has been having a very difficult time.
The Soul-Destroying Nails clearly reacted to Mo Yun, but it was as if something had blocked his brain; no matter how much he struggled, he didn't react at all.
Once, Shi Lan was so angry that she stabbed him with the Soul-Destroying Nail. She thought that seeing blood would have some effect, but the guy just sucked his finger, muttered that she might not have put the embroidery needle away properly, and then acted as if nothing had happened, going about his business as usual, leaving Shi Lan feeling extremely frustrated.
No matter how frustrated you are, life goes on, and when problems arise, they must be dealt with.
For example, there's Zhou Yuxiu, who always runs up to you from time to time, pretending to be weak and pitiful.
A few days ago, she was indeed well-behaved for a few days because of the cloth incident. Shi Lan thought she had learned her lesson, so she left her aside and busied herself preparing things for the family. She bought some more cloth and worked with Aunt Wang for several days to make spare clothes for everyone in the family.
Who knew that after just two days of neglect, she would cause trouble. It's unclear whether she overheard Shi Lan and Mo Yun's conversation, but she secretly obtained white cloth and made a mourning dress, saying she wanted to observe mourning for her brother.
Shi Lan observed her coldly for a day and saw that she really did seem like the right person. She felt that although she was flawed in many ways, she was still somewhat sincere towards her family.
Who knew that Mo Yun saw that Shi Lan was really "bewitched" and said that her brother had passed away half a year after joining the army, and according to the days, the mourning period had already ended.
Zhou Yuxiu was probably stunned when she heard Mo Yun speak so bluntly.
Shi Lan didn't know what to say. Before her brother died, all he thought about was her. He even entrusted her to Mo Yun, hoping that someone would support her in her later years. But what did she do? She even took advantage of that. How cold-hearted she must be!
Mo Yun probably thought of this too, and became even more indifferent to her.
Yuxiu, feeling rebuffed, slunk back into her room and didn't come out again except to eat.
Even so, Shi Lan felt uneasy. She believed that she had experienced the ways of the world and understood human nature quite well. She thought it was better to get rid of such a person as soon as possible, otherwise he might bring disaster to the family one day.
Mo Yun is still unable to regain consciousness, so Shi Lan has no choice but to make long-term plans.
Having made up her mind, Shi Lan went out to find Aunt Liu. Her family was well-off in the village, and people from several nearby villages gave her some face. Shi Lan wanted her to help find a reputable matchmaker with a wide network of connections to find a suitable family for Zhou Yuxiu as soon as possible. In addition, Shi Lan and Mo Yun were still in mourning, so Yuxiu had to go elsewhere to get married. Aunt Liu's family was wealthy, and their house was very spacious. If Zhou Yuxiu got married through her family, it would be more respectable for her.
Shi Lan thought about all this, and also wanted to find a family that could support this spendthrift girl. She thought about everything in detail, so that if anything happened in the future, Mo Yun would not feel ashamed of his dead brother.
After walking for about 15 minutes, we finally arrived at the door of my sixth uncle's house.
It wasn't busy with farming yet. Aunt Liu had stayed home after cutting fodder for the pigs in the morning. When Shi Lan arrived, she was watering the vegetable garden in the backyard. Upon seeing Shi Lan, she quickly put down the bucket and hurried over.
"Yun Ya's family, why did you come over at this time? The sun is so strong, you must be hot from walking here," Aunt Liu turned around and went into the house to scoop up a bowl of well water that had just been drawn up, and handed it over, saying, "Drink this to quench your thirst."
"Thank you, Sixth Aunt," Shi Lan said with a smile as she accepted the drink, took two sips, and felt the heat instantly replaced by a refreshing coolness.
Aunt Liu wiped her hands, grabbed a palm-leaf fan from the side, fanned herself, creating a breeze, and said, "Your uncle said yesterday that he would harvest your wheat in a couple of days and then help you gather it up so that you can plant it directly next spring."
Shi Lan smiled slightly, but instead of following her lead, she brought up Zhou Yuxiu.
Sixth Aunt had also heard that Mo Yun had brought back a beautiful girl, but since he hadn't visited her, she had never seen her. Now that Shi Lan had asked her to hire a matchmaker, she hesitated.
Shi Lan then explained Zhou Yuxiu's situation, adding that she had only been in the village for a short time and was still mostly at home, so she didn't know much about the outside world. However, the girl was growing up, and if she stayed at home any longer, it would only lead to enmity. She asked her sixth aunt to help with this matter, and implied that she did not intend to take back the land and asked her sixth uncle to take care of it next year.
Although Aunt Liu didn't covet the land, she still agreed because of Shi Lan's sincere words and pleading expression.
Shi Lan was overjoyed and quickly thanked him, saying that she would definitely give him a gift as a thank you if things went well.
Aunt Liu laughed and said that she was not a matchmaker, but just helping out, so there was no need to give her a matchmaker's gift.
Shi Lan chuckled, chatted with her for a while longer, and then went back.
That evening, Shi Lan brought up the matter with Mo Yun. Mo Yun had already asked her to make the decision beforehand, and when she heard that she had asked her sixth aunt to intervene, she praised her for being so thoughtful.
Shi Lan rolled her eyes at him and said, "What's wrong with being thorough? I have no choice. Our family is observing mourning, but we can't let Yu Xiu suffer. Otherwise, after two years, she'll be an old maid and won't be able to get married. I'm afraid she'll stay at home."
Shi Lan's words were pointed, and Mo Yun pretended to be stupid and chuckled twice. Seeing that Shi Lan was still looking at him, he brought up the matter of the compensation.
Upon hearing this, Shi Lan immediately shifted her gaze and hurriedly asked how much she could get.
Mo Yun said, "It is said that it costs fifty taels per person."
"So little," Shi Lan scoffed, thinking to herself that human life was really worthless, a life was only worth a mere fifty taels.
Mo Yun sighed, "That's how little there is. Less than half of it actually reaches the relatives."
Shi Lan opened her mouth in astonishment, then quickly calculated in her mind that she had gone to town to buy things a while ago and had some understanding of the current prices.
