Chapter 13 The Real Heiress is a Top Student (Thirteen)

When Bai Yan received a call from Song Zhifan's assistant that evening, she was at the Shen family home tutoring Shen Mubai.

Seeing that Bai Yan's expression was visibly unpleasant after finishing the phone call, Shen Mubai asked, "What's wrong?"

Bai Yan said, "Something has come up at the Song family, and I need to go back. That's all for tonight's tutoring."

"What happened?" Shen Mubai asked.

Bai Yan has no living expenses and the Song family doesn't care about her life. Shen Mubai doesn't believe that they called Bai Yan back in the middle of the night for her own good.

"It's okay, I can handle it myself," Bai Yan said.

Shen Mubai: "Aren't we friends? You know all my secrets, and now you're keeping even a single phone call from me?"

Bai Yan smiled helplessly: "You're so childish, Shen Mubai."

Shen Mubai glared at him, but he couldn't maintain the cool demeanor he had when they first met.

“Okay, then you’ll come with me,” Bai Yan said.

Shen Mubai quickly took out his phone: "I'll call a car."

Bai Yan said, "No need, I'll call a car. You can hold the workbook with you, and I can explain the problems to you in the car."

Shen Mubai's face twisted instantly. Was Bai Yan a devil?

"Don't think I can't see through your little scheme," Bai Yan said. "Let's go."

Resigned to his fate, Shen Mubai hugged his workbook and got into the car with her.

About twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of the Song family's house.

The Song family home was brightly lit. Song's mother sat on the sofa in the living room with a somber face, and Song's father was also there.

Upon seeing Bai Yan and Shen Mubai, Song's father said unhappily, "I told you to come home, why did you bring outsiders with you?"

Bai Yan didn't speak, but Shen Mubai pointed to his watch and said, "Uncle Song, it's almost midnight. You're letting Bai Yan go home. Do you know how dangerous it is for a girl to go out alone at night?"

"As her classmate, I felt obligated to see her off."

Shen Mubai's words only made Song's father seem particularly inadequate. Even a classmate knew that it was dangerous for a girl to go home late at night, but he, as a father, hadn't thought of that.

Too lazy to waste words, Song's mother stared intently at Bai Yan: "Do you know that Sisi just committed suicide?"

Bai Yan: "Oh, what does that have to do with me?"

Seeing her indifferent expression, Song's mother was furious. "How could I have given birth to such a wicked and wretched child!"

She swung the coffee cup in her hand directly at Bai Yan. Just as Bai Yan was about to dodge, Shen Mubai had already pulled her into his arms.

Only her sleeves were slightly wet, but Shen Mubai's entire school uniform was stained discolored by coffee.

Bai Yan's expression changed upon seeing this, and she sneered at Song's parents, saying, "Well, so you're framing me for Song Sisi's suicide attempt? In that case, what are we waiting for? Call the police!"

She said, "Shen Mubai, call the police."

Shen Mubai immediately took out his phone.

"Why call the police!" Mr. Song said. "Don't you think things have gotten bigger enough?"

"Murder is no small matter," Bai Yan sneered. "You've pinned such a serious crime on me, and you won't even let me call the police?"

"You're the one who isolated Sisi. If it weren't for you, would Sisi have committed suicide?" Song's mother said angrily. "Do you even know she has depression!"

Bai Yan sneered: "Is that what Song Sisi told you?"

"I isolated Song Sisi? What about what happened when Song Sisi framed me for stealing and cheating?"

Song's mother shouted, "That wasn't done by Sisi at all! You're targeting her with this fabricated charge, how can you be so vicious!"

Bai Yan sighed, too lazy to argue any longer: "So what did you call me back for today? To make me pay for Song Sisi's life?"

Song's father scolded, "What nonsense are you talking about!"

Then he said, "Sisi is a little resistant to you right now. Your mother and I think it's best if the two of you don't go to the same school."

Bai Yan remained silent, while Shen Mubai said in disbelief, "The college entrance exam is just around the corner, and you want her to transfer schools now? Are you crazy? Besides, No. 1 High School is the best school in the city. Transfer? Where do you want her to transfer to?"

After all, Song's mother was a mother herself, and she knew that this would affect Bai Yan's future.

So, as compensation, he said, "Actually, if you don't want to transfer schools, that's fine too. You can drop out this year. Your dad and I will pay for it, and you can travel anywhere abroad you want."

Shen Mubai: "Damn..."

Bai Yan pulled him back and said, "Okay, I promise you, I'll drop out of No. 1 Middle School."

Song's mother was taken aback when she was surprised that Bai Yan agreed so readily.

Then Bai Yan said, "But I also have a request."

She said, enunciating each word clearly: "I want to sever my parent-child relationship with you. We need to sign a contract."

Song's mother's expression changed. "What nonsense are you talking about, child?"

Bai Yan said, "I only have this one condition: if you don't agree, I won't leave. At worst, I'll make a big scene and let everyone know that you made your biological daughter drop out of school for the sake of your adopted daughter."

"If you don't acknowledge me as your daughter, I don't want parents like you either."

“You…” Song’s mother’s heart ached, and she pointed at her angrily: “You’re such an ungrateful wretch!”

Mr. Song looked at Bai Yan coldly: "You'll only drop out of school if you sever ties with her. Fine, then sever ties."

Song's mother's eyes widened immediately: "Zhifan!" Even though their relationship wasn't good, he was still her own flesh and blood who came out of her womb.

Mr. Song said in a low voice, "She's cut ties with me. What will she eat and drink? And she'll sign a contract? She's just a high school student. Who will draft the contract for her?"

"I want her to know that I, Song Zhifan, have built such a large business in G City, and no one can threaten me."

Song's mother was a little uneasy, but seeing Song's father's confident expression, she agreed.
