Chapter 5 The Unlucky First Wife (Part 5)

Bai Yan turned her gaze to the report she had submitted and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Teacher Lin, are you really not going to take a look at my report?"

Professor Lin looked up from the computer screen and glanced at Bai Yan with some impatience: "Can't you see how busy I am right now? Even if I read your report now, I can't approve it. The existing resources are very tight, and they won't be allocated to you."

Bai Yan's gaze turned cold, and she was about to speak.

At that moment, a man and a woman pushed open the laboratory door side by side. The man was wearing a lab coat, while the woman was wearing a very short mini skirt and had exquisite makeup on her face.

She smiled and placed the lunchbox on the lab table: "Professor, I didn't know what you liked to eat, so I brought a light meal from Dongji."

Professor Lin nodded: "Put it there, I haven't finished my work yet."

"Okay, Professor."

The girl turned her head and seemed to notice Bai Yan.

She tidied her long hair behind her ear: "Hey, Senior Sister Bai, you're here so early today? Didn't you say Dr. Yan was sick recently? I thought you had to take care of him and hadn't had time to come to the lab lately."

Bai Yan said calmly, "It was a misdiagnosis. He has no health problems."

The man in the couple is named Shen Zhibo, and he and Bai Yan are both pursuing their doctorates under Professor Lin. The woman is named Sun Qianqian, and she has been frequently visiting the research lab lately, seemingly also planning to get into Professor Lin's program.

"Alright, stop wasting time. There's no other chores for you to do here," Professor Lin urged. "I'll send the class materials to your phone in a bit, remember to check them."

Bai Yan's brows furrowed even more, she could sense that Professor Lin disliked her. A large part of the reason the original owner's research had fallen behind was due to Professor Lin's deliberate actions.

He never shared good research projects and resources with the original owner. Rather than being his doctoral student, the original owner was more like a handyman in the research lab.

Bai Yan raised her eyes slightly. She had a photographic memory and knowledge superior to that of this technological world. Once she made something, would she be afraid of not having a mentor to claim it?

"Senior, are you teaching students at B University?" Sun Qianqian chimed in from the side, "I'm so envious of you. I currently have a project helping Professor Lin, otherwise I would also like to go to B University."

“Teaching students is such a relaxing job, it’s perfect for a housewife like you.”

Bai Yan sensed the sarcasm in her words and looked up at her.

Sun Qianqian continued, "By the way, B University recently produced a celebrity. If you go to teach a class there, you might see him."

Very few people in the research lab are fans of celebrities, and Sun Qianqian was deliberately criticizing her for being an idle person.

She smiled and took out her phone. "My junior shared it with me. Look, isn't it really cool?"

"He's an esports player who recently retired. He won a championship a while ago, and he's been getting a lot of attention..."

Bai Yan's eyes flashed, and out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of the face on the screen, wearing headphones, looking up and falling into the camera. She froze, meeting his gaze as he looked at the lens, as if she were staring right into his eyes.

Bai Yan's lips slowly curved into a smile... She found it.

My gaze fell on the obviously young and vibrant face on the screen. The boy had blue highlights at the ends of his hair, delicate features, a high nose bridge, and fair skin with black eyes. He was the type that young girls would love.

The introduction page describes him as a 19-year-old prodigy champion shooter - NORTH.

She's only nineteen... much younger than she is now.

She looked up at Sun Qianqian, a pleased smile curving her lips as she did so: "Thank you, I really do like him."

Whether she meant well or not, she's happy now.

Sun Qianqian's expression changed.

Bai Yan then turned to Professor Lin and said, "Professor, I can attend any of your classes at B University in the future. You can send me the specific course schedule."

Professor Lin glanced at her and said, "Okay."

Bai Yan put away the materials she had brought, then smiled and nodded to the professor, saying, "I will teach you well in your place." Only then did she turn and leave.

"Is there something wrong with her brain?" Sun Qianqian couldn't help but whisper to Shen Zhibo beside her.

Going out to teach classes is completely useless for the research progress; it only wastes time and does nothing to improve it. Everyone in the lab would rather pass the buck to someone else, yet she took on all the remaining tasks?

Shen Zhibo remained silent, but Professor Lin, standing to the side, spoke coldly: "Ignore her, let her do whatever she wants. Go and do your experiments."

He was destined to leave the research lab, and he couldn't be bothered to spend any effort on Bai Yan. Now that she was willing to take over the remaining courses, he was more than happy to do so.

...

The original owner was moderately nearsighted, and her vision would be somewhat blurry without glasses. Therefore, she wore a pair of black-rimmed glasses for many years. Because of her family's financial difficulties since childhood, she always dressed very simply. Even though she had a beautiful face, she lacked energy and spirit, and she didn't stand out in a crowd.

Bai Yan went to a nearby shopping mall, but since she didn't have time to get contact lenses, she got glasses frames instead, and then changed her clothes again.

Inside a classroom at B University, Ji Bei, wearing headphones and sporting messy, bird's-nest-like hair, was slumped over his desk catching up on sleep. He and his friends had spent the night at an internet cafe, and he was incredibly tired.

"This is so annoying. If I didn't have too many credits, I would definitely skip this class..." Several roommates next to me were also yawning: "The professor who teaches this class has a really dark face. I feel like I'll die several days younger if I take his class."

"Brother Ji, haven't you earned enough credits yet?" The boy sitting next to Ji Bei, the one closest to him, looked at him with some curiosity. This amazing guy even skipped his major courses, so it didn't make sense that he would attend such a big class so diligently.

Ji Bei didn't even bother to look up, and said lazily, "If we hang another one, we'll be fired."

"Hey, Brother Ji must be reluctant to let me go. If he kicks me out, you won't see me anymore." A bespectacled, baby-faced boy approached Ji Bei and whispered, "How about we go to the internet cafe after roll call? I'll help you rank up, okay?"

Ji Bei raised his eyes slightly and glanced at him out of the corner of his eye: "You want to help me rank up? Then I'll play support for you."

Shen Cong immediately grabbed Ji Bei's arm and changed his address, saying, "Please help me rank up! Dad!"

Ji Bei, unable to resist his pestering, rubbed his temples and said, "Book a computer, let's go after class." This area is a university town, and if you don't book a computer in advance, you'll end up empty-handed.

"Alright!" Shen Cong immediately beamed with joy.

Two or three minutes into the lesson, the teacher still hadn't arrived, so Shen Cong peeked out curiously: "Professor Lin is late today?"

If they don't come, that would be best; we can leave in advance!

But at that moment, the clatter of high heels rang out.

"Why are they high heels?" Shen Cong muttered to himself, "Is Professor Lin dressed as a woman today?"

Ji Bei lay on the table with his eyes closed. Shen Cong was a chatterbox; he could talk endlessly with someone, and even when no one was around, he could talk to himself all day.

"Holy crap, Brother Ji, what a beautiful teacher! She's gorgeous!" Shen Cong suddenly exclaimed excitedly, patting Ji Bei on the shoulder. "Look, look!"
