Raising Monster Cubs in the Apocalypse

Jiang Shuyin gained superpowers in advance, and her monthly period turned into eggs waiting to be hatched.

The candidates for hatching the eggs were not human at all!

So when everyone e...

Chapter 230 Three Fried Eggs

What do you want to tell me?

After Jiang Shu got out of the car, she closed the door and asked Qingwu to help her throw away the disposable lunchbox.

Qingwu curled the corners of her mouth and walked slowly.

Xiao Youliang composed himself. Jiang Shuyin looked to be about the same age as his granddaughter. He rarely spoke seriously with a girl that age. He hesitated for a moment before finally saying, "Let me tell you what you think about me and your mother being together."

I had heard from Lao Xu before that this girl was the one in charge, and I had also heard from Zheng Lanxiang these past few days that she would not be with him without her daughter's consent.

Jiang Shuyin laughed: "You're together?"

With a rising tone at the end, seemingly tinged with a hint of mockery, Xiao Youliang quickly explained, "No, it's just that we have feelings for each other. She cares about your opinion, and I respect her choice, but I hope you can also consider her feelings."

His words were very skillful; he offended no one, and Jiang Shuyin found them easy to listen to.

She had considered this issue before. She was determined to take care of her mother's retirement, as she was confident that she could provide for her mother's basic needs. She didn't want to let a strange man interfere in her family.

Another reason is Xie Yin's existence and these children. She didn't hide it from her mother, but that doesn't mean she wasn't wary of others. The more people who know, the more danger there is.

Therefore, considering all of the above, she was opposed to her mother finding a partner.

After spending several years in another world, her body and mindset have changed drastically.

Having just returned from Africa, and only a few days later, Zheng Lanxiang was surprised by how much her daughter had changed. She even asked her, "Do you remember what bad things you did when you were seven?"

Jiang Shu laughed, "It's just that I drank too much water before bed and wet the bed. Are you worried that I've been switched with someone else?"

Zheng Lanxiang glared at her: "The way you made a scene before you left, I thought you were going to be a widow. Who would have thought you'd come back in just a few days? Not only is your face different, but your temperament is completely different from before. How could I not be suspicious? Now I'm not suspicious anymore. You're still my brat."

Jiang Shuyin smiled.

She used to hate the words "brat," but after not hearing them for so long, she didn't feel anything anymore.

It's just a catchphrase-like way of addressing someone.

Although her mother always scolded her for being lazy and for not knowing how to do housework, she still ended up doing it herself after scolding her. Jiang Shuyin felt that she was very unfilial in terms of doing housework, but the more someone is urged to do something, the more resistant they feel and the less they want to do it.

He'd been thinking a bit too deeply; Xiao Youliang was still waiting for her to give her a response.

Jiang Shuyin, regaining her composure, looked at his black hair and asked, "How old are you this year? Who are your family members?"

Xiao Youliang immediately laughed: "I'm 63 years old by the traditional Chinese age reckoning. I only have one daughter left at home. She got married many years ago and we haven't been in touch. Now she and her son-in-law work at the central base. She's been urging me to find someone else for a long time, but she's too busy with work to spend time with me."

These words seemed to be a direct hit to her, and Jiang Shuyin suppressed her smile, turning her face serious as she walked back.

Xiao Youliang was completely baffled: Why did they leave?

He followed a few steps, when a boy in a school uniform came over and bumped into him with a brute force, causing him to stumble back a few steps. They entered Zheng Lanxiang's house.

Good lad, it's a waste not to use that strength to defend the country.

Qingwu waited in the yard until the person left before going inside: "Grandma! I'm hungry!"

Zheng Lanxiang was cautiously trying to find out if her daughter had run into Lao Xiao. She hadn't figured out how to bring it up yet. Jiang Shuyin chuckled to herself, pretending not to know what was going on.

Upon hearing her grandson call out, Zheng Lanxiang stopped asking, presumably because she hadn't encountered him.

Dinner consisted of only two dishes. The second dish was an egg fried by Zheng Lanxiang because she was worried about the child's growth. Otherwise, there would have been a mushroom and bok choy dish, which Jiang Shuyin could eat or not, as she preferred.

She's only been home for less than half a month, and this is the treatment she's getting, this is the attitude she's showing her mother. She's really her own mother.

Qingwu doesn't eat any of these. Aren't the crystal cores delicious? He put the first fried egg into his grandmother's bowl: "Grandma is busy at home and cooks for me and my mother. It's very hard work. This fried egg must be for Grandma. You've lost weight, but you look even better now."

Zheng Lanxiang felt completely comfortable listening to this. Who doesn't love to hear nice words? And children's words are the most straightforward and innocent. She said "good" several times and looked at Qingwu with eyes full of doting affection.

Jiang Shu closed his eyes, exhaled through his nose, put a piece of rapeseed over the rice into his mouth, and a second fried egg appeared in his bowl. Qingwu said with a smile, "Without Mother, there would be no me, but I can't leave you out."

The three fried eggs were evenly distributed, and half of the meal was already eaten. Zheng Lanxiang became somewhat absent-minded, leaving the food still on the table even after she had finished eating. Jiang Shuyin thought for a while but still didn't bring up the matter.

After the weekend, I'll be going to complete the onboarding process on Monday. Jiang Shu has been promoted, but not to captain of the special task force. Instead, she'll become the deputy director of the ability user department and an instructor for the special task force. The deputy director position is a sinecure, with all the duties taken over by Director Hu. She'll just receive an extra basic salary, and her main work will be with the special task force.

Although she had never been to the task force department, everyone knew her. When they heard that she was coming to be an instructor, they called her as soon as they heard the news, and their attitude was very friendly.

Jiang Shuyin was troubled. What should she teach them?

Her skills weren't trained in a proper way; her moves were all self-taught, learned from fighting mutants. As long as they worked, that was enough. But this kind of skill relies on feeling and muscle memory, so theory is even less useful.

Even though Qingwu had the weekend off, she wasn't in the mood to go out and play; she stayed home thinking about this.

Qingwu went to find his father to play. He took the elevator up, but while waiting for it, he noticed a red light flashing. He pulled it off and felt an electric current spreading from his body. After the positive and negative charges in his body were electrified, some ions were repelled, and he almost lost his mimicry. Qingwu was furious and crushed the surveillance camera, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it a few times. After calming down, he boarded the elevator.
