Chapter 120

Shu Yun opened the window and looked out, but did not see Xie Fu.

Where are they?

Xiaoshu then realized that she had only told half of her story. She clenched her hands tightly, afraid that the master would think she was slow-witted and would not let her serve in the inner room anymore.

She added in a low voice, "The young master said the streets are lively today and he wants to take you out for a stroll."

The old man opposite him seemed to remember something and said, "That's right, tonight is the Western Liang's Blessing Festival, the streets are bustling."

The old man took the cloak hanging to the side, put it on, and waved to Xiaoshu, who was following him to see him off, "No need to see me off, there are guards outside."

He glanced back at Shu Yun, who had already started picking out clothes. Her previously quiet and composed face now displayed the delicate and charming expression of a young woman carefully choosing clothes before a date.

It was because she occasionally showed this side of herself in front of her grandson that he felt that the Shu Yun who was treated with respect by the Black and White Impermanence was just an illusion.

Having ruled as the rulers of Xiliang for so many years, the Xie family controlled one-third of the entire realm.

When he woke up, he found himself being overshadowed by a young woman.

The old master glanced at Shu Yun and finally chose a scarlet dress embroidered with white pear blossoms in silver thread, showing that she had good taste.

He lifted the curtain and said, "I won't be coming anymore. These few days are enough to just pretend."

The deity inside, who was still putting together jewelry, seemed to respond to him, but then again, she didn't.

The old lord of Xiliang didn't seem to care much, and led a large group of people out while wearing a cloak.

Xie Fu hadn't been waiting long at the entrance of the Xie residence when he saw Shu Yun walking towards him with a smile under the moonlight.

Tonight, for the first time, she dressed up more elegantly, wearing a scarlet long dress with tiny silver-white pear blossoms adorning the sleeves and hem. As she moved, it was as if flowers were blooming and surrounding her.

Her long, black hair was no longer left loose; instead, it was styled into a simple bun, adorned with the exquisite hairpins he had collected and given to her.

Tassels made of fine white beads hung down beside her temples, reflecting the clear moonlight and shimmering with iridescent light.

A delicate silver chain dangled from her snow-white earlobes, with two crescent-shaped pieces of white jade embedded at the bottom. As she walked, the jade pieces clinked together, producing a clear and melodious sound.

Xie Fu stood in the dim light at the entrance of the Xie residence, quietly watching her walk towards him step by step. His dark eyes held nothing but her.

Between the moonlight and the snow, she is the third kind of stunning beauty.

These pieces of jewelry, collected and given to her, were never seen by her. Even though they were rare treasures that were hard to find in the entire Western Liang region or even the whole world, she simply left them in the warehouse.

All the ornaments were treasures, but Xie Fu knew that the only one who had moved him today was her.

He knew she wasn't like other women in the world, who were passionate about cosmetics, jewelry, and dresses. He simply wanted to give her everything he could get and within his means.

He wouldn't be as moved by any other person if they had all these pieces of jewelry.

Not far away, Shu Yun seemed to notice that the road under her feet was not smooth. She lowered her head slightly, and the tassels brushed against her snow-white cheeks and fell down. The white beads shimmered in the moonlight, stimulating Xie Fu's eyes.

Xie Fu felt an uncontrollable tremor in his chest.

He knew he was out of options.

After running away for so long, he still couldn't bring himself to disregard his remaining pride and ask Shu Yun about the name she had inadvertently revealed while she was unconscious.

As Shu Yun lifted her skirt and stepped across the uneven road, Xie Fu, standing in the dim light of the Xie residence, with his strong and upright figure, and the pride of the Xie family members who shared the same lineage, slowly softened and gradually became subdued with each step Shu Yun took.

Xie Fu walked over, took Shu Yun's slender, cool hand, and the two walked towards the door.

"Young Master".

The groom, who had been waiting for a long time, gripped the reins and reminded Xie Fu.

The young master had instructed him from the beginning to prepare a carriage, which was already lined with soft cushions and had a charcoal brazier lit.

Xie Fu lowered his head and asked Shu Yun for her opinion, "Shall we take a carriage? Or shall we stroll around at our own pace?"

Shu Yun has been kept under close watch by Xie Fu and his men these days, and is kept indoors all day long, not allowed to go anywhere, which is making her very bored.

She naturally didn't want to sit in that enclosed carriage anymore. "Let's walk slowly for a while," she said.

Xie Fu responded softly, "Mm."

His slender, pale fingers held her delicate, smooth hand, loosening their grip slightly from time to time, only to tighten it again after a while, as if hesitant.

Shu Yun stood there and looked at him for a while, then took Xie Fu's hand in return, her five fingers spread open, and interlocked with his ten fingers.

She said gently, "Let's go."

Xie Fu obediently followed her through the streets of Xiliang at night, his gaze fixed on their clasped hands.

"Your hands will get cold like this."

Shu Yun glanced at their hands exposed to the winter wind, then moved closer to Xie Fu.

Their clasped hands were squeezed inside two thick cloaks, one black and one red, keeping out the biting winter wind.

Xie Fu chuckled. This way, they wouldn't be exposed to the cold wind, but the two of them would have to dawdle and walk close to each other all night.

If the two of them were a little too far apart, and a cold wind blew in, wouldn't all their efforts throughout the night be wasted?

Xie Fu released her intertwined hands, held her hand in his palm, lowered his head and kissed her, his beautiful black eyes full of smiles, "Let's go."

A gentle light shone in Shu Yunlian's eyes. She turned her head away, her ear tips slightly red. "Mmm."
