Raising the Villain for Those Years

Shangshen of Penglai, Shu Yun, accepts an old friend's request to protect their son through his tribulation and picks up a pitiful little apprentice along the way.

Unexpectedly, after she...

Chapter 122

If the contents of this letter are true, Shu Yun will definitely not let the immortal named Zhu Ji go, even if he is an immortal from the celestial realm, she will not hesitate to point her sword at the Nine Heavens.

The sudden appearance of the Demon Devouring Cave in the far north of the Demon Realm was not a coincidence; it was a deliberate act.

The person who meticulously plotted this was Zhu Ji, a celestial being from the Nine Heavens. As a deity from the Nine Heavens, he secretly colluded with demons from the Demon Realm to scheme against Jiang Yan.

If he were to lead a large group of immortals to besiege Jiang Yan with so much demonic energy, Jiang Yan would absorb that demonic energy and be destroyed by his inner demons even faster, which would suit his purposes perfectly.

A mere immortal, resorting to any means to scheme against Jiang Yan, even made her watch helplessly as Jiang Yan died before her eyes in the far north of the Demon Realm.

She will make sure Jiang Yan gets his revenge.

After Xie Fu finished discussing matters with the generals, he went outside and saw that the lights were still on in Shu Yun's room.

He went inside and saw Shu Yun sitting behind the table, her brows furrowed in thought.

"Why aren't you asleep yet?"

When Shu Yun saw him arrive, she got up and went over to help him brush the snow off his cloak.

"Aren't you still awake too?"

Xie Fu curled his lips into a casual smile. "I'm here to prevent an enemy night attack and to discuss military matters with other generals. What about you?"

Shu Yun pulled him towards the warmer indoor area, saying, "What else could I be worried about? I'm just worried about you."

Xie Fu looked at the slender, snow-white nape of her neck revealed after she pulled her long hair up, took a step forward and hugged her, resting his chin on the top of her head, his voice deep and pleasant, "After you used your power last time, you fell into a deep sleep. Don't blame me for not letting you take action."

Shu Yun explained helplessly, "That was an accident last time..."

Xie Fu tightened his grip on her arm.

He knew that her previous unconsciousness was partly his fault; in other words, her serious injuries were all his fault.

Xie Fu's mind flashed back to the large, shocking bruise on her fair and delicate skin.

He said in a hoarse voice, "It's my fault."

By the time he realized what was happening, it was too late to retract the spear from his hand.

The black gun slammed heavily into her abdomen. Xie Fu recalled the look in her eyes when she looked up, and his heart pounded.

How much pain must she have been in to show such a sorrowful expression?

Shu Yun noticed that Xie Fu's mood was off, so she quickly reached out and tried to pry his hand away so that she could turn around.

Xie Fu refused to let go, instead tightening his grip even more, as if he wanted to merge her whole being into his bones and blood.

He was still blaming himself for hurting himself last time.

Shu Yun tried to keep her voice gentle as she comforted Xie Fu, "Back then, you only thought of me as an ordinary mortal. In a critical situation on the battlefield, how could you possibly know it was me when someone suddenly appeared?"

She could hear his breathing above her head. Hearing her words, he remained silent and did not let go.

Xie Fu couldn't forgive himself for hurting her so badly. He closed his eyes, his brow furrowed.

He felt he should have recognized her immediately, but he failed to do so, and he shouldn't have.

She caught the arrow that was aimed at her face with one hand, demonstrating her lightning-fast reflexes.

She shattered the rain of arrows that filled the sky, yet she was wounded by the very person she had rescued from afar.

Xie Fu knew that if he hadn't been the one who attacked her, she would have been completely unprepared and injured. If it had been anyone else, she would not have been hurt.

Sensing the dejection and self-blame of the person behind her, Shu Yun decided to stop discussing this topic so as not to cause him guilt every time it came up.

She patted Xie Fu's hand and said in a light tone, "I'm hungry."

Sure enough, when Xie Fu heard her say this, he loosened his grip on her arm.

A deep voice came from above. Shu Yun, who was leaning against Xie Fu, could feel the vibration of his chest as he spoke. "What do you want to eat? I'll have the kitchen make it for you."

Shu Yun couldn't think of anything she particularly wanted to eat for the moment, so she said, "Just make something simple."

Xie Fu responded softly, then released her and walked to the door to instruct his men to deliver a message to the small kitchen.

The food in Xiliang in the mortal realm now tastes far inferior to what Jiang Yan ate when he was still in the human world.

The chef Jiang Yan hired back then made food that perfectly suited her taste, and even today she still misses those exquisite and delicious dishes and pastries.

As Shu Yun leisurely ate her late-night snack, she wondered how her cooking skills had regressed rather than improved over the many years of dynastic changes in the mortal realm.

Xie Fu sat beside her as she ate, occasionally putting some untouched food into her bowl.

Shu Yun disdainfully tossed aside the unpalatable dishes, showing no intention of touching them.

Xie Fu frowned upon seeing this, "Don't be picky about food, you..."

Halfway through her sentence, she suddenly remembered that she was not an ordinary person and that even mortal medicine was ineffective for her poor health, so there was no way she could supplement her nutrition by not being picky about food.

He picked up the food that Shu Yun had set aside from her bowl and put it into his own bowl to eat.

Xie Fu helped her tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "After you finish your midnight snack, get some rest. There's nothing to worry about."

Shu Yun turned her head and asked, "What about you? You haven't had a proper rest these past few days."

Every night, she would stay up very late. After discussing important matters, General Yu would come over and watch over her until she "fell asleep." Then he would stay alone in the study, either studying maps or formulating strategies, and occasionally staring blankly into space.

Shu Yun looked at his increasingly tired and beautiful face with a touch of heartache, and reached out to gently touch his cheek.
