Chapter Sixty-Five

He was the only person in the basement in the area; the rest of the space was empty. When someone came in from outside, their footsteps would naturally echo in the spacious basement.

The man wearing the blue demon mask has come again.

Feng Ziyi didn't even bother to lift his eyelids. The other person was always wearing a mask, so his true face couldn't be seen. No matter how much he provoked him, the person wouldn't reveal any information. And the fingers that touched his forehead to search his soul were icy cold and had no temperature at all. He really thought that this person was probably a demon transformed from a vengeful corpse.

He, a dignified immortal, was bound by the Immortal Binding Rope, losing all face. The other person, on the other hand, was dressed in a narrow-sleeved black robe with silver thread embroidery, and wore a pair of black leather boots with tight openings that accentuated his long and straight legs.

Feng Ziyi was furious. He had been inexplicably kidnapped, his hair disheveled, while his captor was a well-dressed beast. His tone was defiant, showing no awareness of being a prisoner, "Search if you want."

Perhaps because his tone was too contemptuous and irritable, he heard a very soft laugh coming from above.

The disdain and mockery in that man's laughter nearly made Feng Ziyi explode on the spot. "You..."

Feng Ziyi's words were cut off, and the man resumed his daily soul-searching.

Soul searching is a forbidden art. It is forbidden because the person whose soul is searched will experience great pain. Ordinary people who have their souls searched will either become mentally impaired or stupid.

Fortunately, although Feng Ziyi was lazy in his cultivation, he still managed to reach the rank of Immortal. Being searched by the soul would not immediately make him mentally impaired. However, this person seemed to arrive at just the right time every day. As soon as he recovered, he would arrive on time, eagerly searching for something in his memory.

Feng Ziyi thanked himself more than once for his ignorance; he knew nothing of the secrets of the Nine Heavens, and the people of the Demon Realm would not be able to find the information they wanted by capturing him and searching his soul.

The pain of soul-searching was extraordinary. Before long, Feng Ziyi was covered in cold sweat and his face turned pale.

Feng Ziyi's memories were seen by the masked man in the blue ghost mask, one scene at a time. Feng Ziyi couldn't see his expression through the mask, but judging from the other's increasingly tense body, it probably wasn't a good sign.

Although the pain in his soul nearly made Feng Ziyi faint, he was secretly pleased. He hadn't expected to capture someone like him, a lazy bum who spends all his time loafing around! Let them search his soul! They won't see any secrets!

Even though Feng Ziyi never backed down on the surface or in his heart, the daily torment of soul searching left him mentally and physically exhausted. He kept wondering when his father and Shu Yun would remember him and whether they had arranged for someone to rescue him.

If it were Shu Yun, with Tai'a by her side, she could probably fight her way here even if she were all alone, right?

But when she received the message while searching for someone in the demon realm, it was uncertain whether he was still alive.

If he had known that Jiang Yan was special to her, he wouldn't have acted impulsively, which has worsened their relationship.

The ability to think slowly solidified in his mind, and his head felt as heavy as a thousand pounds. Feng Ziyi closed his eyes and lowered his head.

The masked man in front of him continued his soul-searching without caring about Feng Ziyi's life or death. He stopped just before Feng Ziyi reached his limit and ordered his men to come in and feed him some medicine so that the soul-searching could proceed smoothly the next day.

The vengeful ghosts waiting outside rushed forward when they saw people come out. "Several of the corpse beasts we raised escaped yesterday and are running rampant in the Demon Realm. They've already killed many people."

The masked man was wiping his fingers vigorously, over and over again, as if he had touched something disgusting. "So what if they're dead? The more people the corpse beast eats, the stronger it becomes."

"That's all we have to say, but the number of corpse beasts is already small, and losing even a few is a huge loss for us."

Knowing the meaning behind the vengeful ghost, the masked man ignited black flames in his hand, engulfing the handkerchief he had just used to wipe his hands and burning it to ashes. "I'll go and bring those corpse beasts back. Keep an eye on him until I get back."

At this point, the masked man paused for a moment, his voice still deep and resonant, but the vengeful ghost could detect a bloodthirsty glint in it. "If you can't protect the people, you don't need to linger around in front of me anymore."

The vengeful ghost swallowed hard, repeatedly vowing to protect the person and keep a close watch on the basement.

The horrific images of the demons who died at this man's hands flashed through his mind; he had no intention of becoming nourishment for this man to increase his evil power and magic.

The Demon Realm's territory was quite large, and Shu Yun was completely at a loss at first, so she simply wandered around aimlessly. Later, she began to plan her way, asking around in different places, and also asking some of the demon cultivators she knew to keep an eye out for any demon cultivators in the Demon Realm named "Jiang Yan".

Shu Yun herself did not expect that she would devote so much energy to Jiang Yan. Every time she wanted to get away, she would think of Jiang Yan standing obediently in front of her, bowing her head and calling her master.

She was the one who interfered in his fate. Later, when Jiang Yan left with the demonic cultivator, she was also involved in the reasons. She wanted to avoid Jiang Yan's feelings, so she wanted to distance herself from him and minimize any involvement. Therefore, she deliberately warned herself.

However, Jiang Yan did not enter the cycle of reincarnation as she had hoped, but instead went to the Demon Realm. This left her with no choice but to sever their relationship and find him, bring him back safely, and send him into the cycle of reincarnation.

Still no news?

Shu Yun frowned, leaning back in her chair. Her black hair was unkempt and cascaded down like a waterfall. Many people turned to look at her black hair, but then looked away with regret after seeing her ordinary appearance.

The demonic cultivator opposite him spread his hands, sighed, and said, "Who would notice a mere demonic cultivator hiding in a crowd? Besides, so much time has passed; any living being should leave some trace of its existence, yet we haven't found a single clue about this person. I'm afraid..."

Shu Yun understood what he meant. In fact, many people besides him had vaguely hinted to her that Jiang Yan might have died long ago.
