The talisman could induce hallucinations in her, and hypnotizing herself would make her no longer afraid of these vengeful spirits and evil ghosts.
"Three, two, one." As soon as she finished speaking, Mu Tiantian put away the small makeup mirror.
Huo Jixiu noticed that there was no fear in her eyes, which was completely different from before.
"Are you hypnotizing yourself?" Huo Jixiu couldn't help but ask when he first saw it.
Mu Tiantian didn't hide anything, "That's one way to understand it."
"I need your help with something," Huo Jixiu said generously, "and the reward is substantial."
"What kind of help?" Mu Tiantian asked as she rummaged through her backpack for the things she would use to lure out the ghost and catch it.
"I'll tell you after you've cleared away all the ghosts here." With that, Huo Jixiu remotely controlled his wheelchair to head towards the end of the corridor.
Seeing this, Mu Tiantian quickly followed, saying, "Don't run around."
Huo Jixiu said calmly, "I won't run away."
Mu Tiantian choked for a moment, then thought for a moment and reminded her, "Then don't wander around. What if you scare away a ghost you encounter?"
In the dim light of the hallway, Huo Jixiu stopped in front of a guest room, looked up at her, and asked expressionlessly, "Aren't you saying the wrong thing?"
Squeak—
As they were talking, the guest room in front of Huo Jixiu suddenly opened.
A sinister and terrifying face suddenly appeared in front of the two of them with a ghostly howl.
However terrifying this ghost may be, in Mu Tiantian's eyes it is nothing more than a big rag doll.
Just as Mu Tiantian took out a yellow talisman, she saw the ghost being frightened by Huo Jixiu and running around in all directions.
The door slammed shut with a loud bang, blocking the two people outside.
Mu Tiantian's hand holding the talisman froze in mid-air as she looked at Huo Jixiu. "Am I right? You'd better put on your Buddhist beads right away, or you'll scare away every ghost you encounter. What am I supposed to catch then?"
Upon hearing this, Huo Jixiu slowly put the Buddhist prayer beads back on his wrist.
His resentment was suppressed.
Mu Tiantian glanced at the compass needle; it was so quiet that it was clear all the ghosts in the building had hidden themselves away.
She asked Huo Jixiu which rooms had been the sites of death, and then drew talismans for summoning souls on the doors of each room with cinnabar.
Generally speaking, if it is an evil spirit from outside, it can be driven away by using powerful talismans or door gods.
Only when a person who died in a hotel becomes a ghost filled with resentment and lingers there, can the ghost be driven away. The only way to completely resolve this is to either defeat the ghost until it is completely destroyed or to take it away and perform a ritual to help it pass on to the afterlife.
Finally, Mu Tiantian arrived at the hotel lobby and drew a huge talisman on the ground in the center to lure all the ghosts into the area, so that she could capture them all at once.
Once everything is ready, all you need to do is wait until midnight.
There's less than half an hour left.
It was extremely quiet all around.
Seeing that Huo Jixiu looked tired, Mu Tiantian suggested, "Why don't you go back and rest? Your company must be quite busy."
Huo Jixiu rubbed his temples. Since he woke up, he hadn't had a single good night's sleep.
He looked up at Mu Tiantian and suddenly asked, "You know me very well?"
"I don't know much about it, I've only heard of it." Mu Tiantian's eyes darted around, but she wouldn't look at him.
According to reports, the Huo family underwent tremendous changes during the two years that Huo Jixiu was in a coma. His once vast family business was nearly bankrupted by his relatives.
After regaining his senses, he worked tirelessly for two years to turn the tide and make a comeback, under unimaginable pressure.
Huo Jixiu asked, "What else have you heard?"
"I heard you were in a coma for two years. Although you had difficulty moving around, your abilities were still as impressive as before, and you brought the company back to life." Mu Tiantian praised you first, then paused for a moment and tentatively asked, "Do you remember what it was like when you were lying in the hospital for those two years? Did you have any... strange dreams?"
"for example?"
"I dreamt that my soul left my body... or something like that..."
Huo Jixiu had dealt with many people, and he could sense that she was testing him, so he asked in return, "Why do you ask that?"
"I'm just curious... about what it feels like to be in a vegetative state." Mu Tiantian quickly explained, afraid he would misunderstand, "I didn't mean to offend you, I'm just really curious."
Huo Jixiu replied calmly, "I don't feel anything."
Mu Tiantian nodded, watching him intently. Huo Jixiu's current aloof and noble demeanor was completely different from his playful and clingy nature when he was a living being; the difference was too great.
She recalled that obsessive vow, wanting to ask but not knowing how to bring it up.
Seeing that she seemed hesitant to speak, Huo Jixiu asked, "Is there something you want to say?"
After a long silence, Mu Tiantian still mustered up the courage to ask, "Mr. Huo, what are your thoughts on the saying 'There's no breakup, only widowhood'?"
Huo Jixiu thought for a moment and found it boring. "He killed someone just because he broke up with his girlfriend. He should see a psychiatrist."
Mu Tiantian wholeheartedly agreed, "What President Huo said makes perfect sense."
She breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed he didn't think much of it, or rather, he didn't care about such emotional matters at all.
If that's the case, she can stay by his side to dispel his resentment and find a way to help him stand up. Even if he regains his memory, he shouldn't be in any danger.
Seeing her relaxed expression, Huo Jixiu was certain that she knew exactly what had happened during the two years he was in a coma, when his soul wandered outside his body.
That's why he harbors such strong resentment.
