Rebirth 1983: I'll Make the Ungrateful Children Kneel and Beg for Mercy

Su Jianguo took his last breath on his sickbed, still hearing the quarrel of his five children fighting over 300,000 yuan for surgery fees.

When he opened his eyes again, he had returned to t...

Chapter 143 Father and Son Reunite in Prison

Watching his son's tearful performance, Su Jianguo suddenly felt incredibly exhausted.

He desperately wanted to see a hint of genuine remorse in his son at that moment, rather than this clumsy performance.

"Virtue."

Su Jianguo sighed.

Do you know why I've always been skeptical of your relationship with Liu Meijuan?

Su Mingde was stunned, clearly not expecting his father to suddenly change the subject.

"Because you and she are the same kind of people."

Su Jianguo looked directly into his son's eyes.

"Selfish, hypocritical, and always shifting blame to others."

Su Mingde's expression changed, and his tears miraculously stopped.

"Dad, what do you mean by this?"

What I mean is…

Su Jianguo said, emphasizing each word.

"Your current predicament is entirely of your own making."

The air in the meeting room seemed to freeze.

Su Mingde's expression gradually changed from pleading to shock, and then to anger.

"So...you're not going to help me?"

Su Mingde's voice suddenly turned angry.

Su Jianguo did not answer, but simply looked at his son calmly.

"Good, very good!"

Su Mingde suddenly stood up, his handcuffs rattling, prompting a prison guard to immediately step forward.

"I knew it! You've never treated me like a son! You've always been biased towards me since I was little, and now you're happy to see me in trouble, aren't you?"

Su Jianguo remained silent, a reaction that seemed to further enrage Su Mingde.

"Su Jianguo!"

He called out his father's name, his face contorted in a grotesque expression.

"What are you pretending to be so high and mighty for? What makes you so great? Believe me, once I get out of here, I'll kill you!!"

A prison guard came over and warned him.

Watch your words!

Su Mingde ignored him and continued to roar.

"I've seen through you! You're a cold-blooded old bastard! No wonder Mingqiang and I don't acknowledge you as an old man!"

Su Jianguo slowly stood up, looking at the hysterical stranger in front of him, and the last bit of hope in his heart dissipated.

"Time is up."

The prison guard stepped forward and pulled Su Mingde away.

Let me go!

Su Mingde struggled, his eyes bloodshot.

"Su Jianguo! You'll regret this! Wait till I get out of here, I'll make you regret it!!"

The prison guards forcibly dragged away Su Mingde, who was still cursing, and his voice gradually faded away in the corridor.

Su Jianguo stood still, his heart not stirred by much emotion.

Knowing what your second child is like, why have any expectations?

Su Mingde showed no remorse whatsoever; he merely wanted to use his father to escape punishment.

When they realized they couldn't succeed, they immediately revealed their true colors.

As Su Jianguo stepped out of the detention center, the sunlight was so bright that he squinted.

He lit the cigarette he had been carrying all morning and took a deep drag.

"Hopefully, this lesson will teach you a new way of life."

He spoke softly in the direction of the detention center, then turned and left.

...

at the same time.

At Su Mingqiang's home.

The morning sunlight streamed into the bedroom through the sheer curtains.

Li Jinhua turned over, her hand unconsciously touching her flat belly, where a new life was growing.

The other side of the bed was empty, but Su Mingqiang's body heat still lingered in the blankets.

The sound of spatulas clattering came from the kitchen, accompanied by a little tune hummed by Su Mingqiang.

Li Jinhua's lips unconsciously curled up; she hadn't felt this cared for in a long time.

She slowly sat up, but suddenly felt nauseous and quickly covered her mouth before rushing to the bathroom.

"Jin Hua? Vomited again?"

Su Mingqiang rushed over upon hearing the noise, still holding a shovel in his hand.

He gently patted his wife's back and handed her warm water with his other hand.

"Rinse your mouth. I made some ginger soup; you can drink some later."

Li Jinhua looked up and saw her husband's concerned gaze in the mirror.

Su Mingqiang has changed a lot since he found out she was pregnant.

The颓废 man of the past is gone, replaced by a husband with a clean-shaven beard and bright eyes.

The fine lines around his eyes were deeper, but he looked much younger overall.

"I'm fine."

Li Jinhua took the water glass.

"It's just normal morning sickness."

Su Mingqiang squatted down to be at eye level with his wife who was sitting on the ground.

"What would you like to eat today? I made millet porridge and steamed egg custard. Would you like some pickled cucumbers too?"

"When did you learn to do so many things?"

Li Jinhua asked with a smile.

"I learned it from Aunt Wang next door."

Su Mingqiang scratched his head sheepishly.

"You're supporting two people now, so you need to make sure you get enough nutrition."

He reached out and gently stroked his wife's lower abdomen, his eyes sparkling with a light that Li Jinhua had never seen before.

"My son is inside."

"What if it's a daughter?"

"Daughters are better!"

Su Mingqiang immediately said.

"As beautiful and intelligent as you."

He helped his wife to her feet.

"Please have a seat; breakfast will be ready soon."

The table was already set with bowls and chopsticks, and in the center was a bowl of steaming egg custard, its surface smooth as a mirror, garnished with a few bright green scallions.

The small dish next to it contained perfectly pickled cucumbers, crisp and refreshing, making one's mouth water just looking at them.

Su Mingqiang brought over millet porridge, with a thick layer of rice oil floating on top.

"Drink slowly, it's hot."

He carefully placed it in front of his wife, then turned to get the warmed milk.

"You should sit down and eat too."

Li Jinhua said.

"I'll be late for work soon."

Su Mingqiang glanced at the wall clock and hurriedly ate a few mouthfuls of porridge.
