"Have you settled the matter of the bride price?" Old Mrs. He asked.

"Now they've softened their stance; the bride price is flexible."

Upon hearing this, He Wenlin laughed and said, "You're just being casual again."

"Well, last time I lost my temper and said I didn't care whether they got married or not, and then they relented and didn't force me anymore."

Grandma He Wenlin remained silent.

He Wenlin put the drinks in the fast food restaurant for the customers, then went back to the small supermarket. Then she heard Old Mrs. He ask He Wenhua, "Who's in charge of the money in your fast food restaurant now?"

"Lijuan is in charge."

"Her father and brother are all provided with food and lodging by you, right?" Grandma He asked.

"Yes, but it doesn't cost much." He Wenhua wasn't stingy when it came to this.

He Wenlin asked, "How are her dad and brother doing with their cooking lessons? Are they planning to open a fast food restaurant, or set up a street stall?"

“Her brother only wants to play games and surf the internet all day long. He doesn’t study properly at all. When he’s hungry, he comes home after eating. I said a few words to him, and he almost got into a fight with me.” He Wenhua was full of anger when he mentioned Xia Lijuan’s brother. “He’s really the precious darling of the Xia family. You can’t say anything to him.”

The three members of the Xia family were unhappy when they heard this.

"Your 'brother-in-law' isn't legally married yet, so it's a bit illegitimate. Let's keep quiet about it," He Wenlin said. "But then again, playing games costs money. Neither he nor his father works, so where did they get the money? Did your sister-in-law give it to them?"

He Wenhua nodded, looking unhappy: "I said a few words last time, and they thought I was stingy and didn't want to give them money. They didn't do any work for me, they just spent all their time in internet cafes and arcades, even staying up all night."

He Wenlin jokingly spoke her mind: "Brother, I really want to tell you to break up with him. This family is no good. Whether you're looking for a husband or a wife, the other person's character, values, and family background are really important. It's not about money. Look at Shanshan's family, their conditions are just so-so, but her family members are all pretty good."

Grandma He: "If you've already lived with the girl and then break up, wouldn't the girl be the one who suffers?"

He Wenhua sighed and didn't say anything more about it. Instead, he said to He Wenlin, "Linlin, it's true that I haven't made any money. I don't know what the problem is. Why don't you take some time to go and check it out for me sometime?"

"You really didn't make any money?" He Wenlin was surprised. "I thought you were just being polite."

"How could you not make money?" Grandma He said. "When I was with you, you were making about three hundred yuan a day."
