Unable to resist her hunger, Qiao Xiaoni's stomach soon began to rumble. She pressed it casually, thinking she could go back for lunch early, but after a busy day, she had only eaten breakfast.

Because the old lady was there, she only drank a bowl of porridge, but now she really wants to eat rice.

"Hungry?" Su Chenhao asked softly. He was a little hungry too, but it was raining heavily outside and he was not feeling well, so even if he went out, he wouldn't be able to find any food.

Qiao Xiaoni added another piece of firewood to the fire. "I'm hungry. I feel like I could eat a whole cow right now."

She made a joke; she couldn't eat a whole cow, but she could definitely eat three bowls of rice. She had never felt this hungry before.

Su Chenhao chuckled, finding his wife incredibly adorable. Suddenly, a white shadow darted through the cave entrance. Quick as a flash, he picked up a stone and struck the shadow twice with deadly precision. His right hand was naturally strong, a strength he relied on to successfully hunt prey every time he went up the mountain.

Even a wild boar would be riddled with holes from being hit by a bullet... He didn't tell anyone this. Partly, he worried people wouldn't believe him; otherly, if word got out, who knew what kind of person he'd be in everyone's eyes?

Qiao Xiaoni rubbed her eyes, hardly believing what had just happened. A rabbit had scurried in through the hole, then was hit by two stones, fell to the ground with a thud, kicked its legs, and quickly closed its eyes in resentment.

"You killed the rabbit?" he asked hastily after the initial shock.

"Hmm, aren't you hungry? Hurry up and bring the rabbit over, I'll prepare it and we'll roast it. There's a salt shaker and a dagger in the corner."

Qiao Xiaoni swallowed hard; nothing could stop a foodie when faced with hunger. In less than two minutes, everything was done.

She watched as Su Chenhao deftly skinned the rabbit, his hands completely free of blood. Then he made a cut on the rabbit, and blood flowed out very slowly, without any gruesome sensation. Instead, it possessed an artistic quality…

When she looked again, the rabbit had already been skewered on a twig and roasted over a fire.

"So fast!" Qiao Xiaoni rubbed her eyes, wondering if she had missed something.

"This is already considered slow; normally it would take two minutes to finish. My arm isn't strong enough, which is why it's been slower." He winced slightly from the pain in his wound but didn't cry out.

Only then did Qiao Xiaoni remember that he was injured. She quickly pulled up his sleeve to take a look and saw that he had already given the wound some basic treatment. She didn't know when he had done it; she knew nothing at all.

"How come I didn't know when you treated your wound?"

Su Chenhao said, "I was afraid of scaring you, so I didn't call you. This little injury is nothing to me. It will heal in a couple of days, so don't make a fuss about it."

Qiao Xiaoni suddenly felt useless. When faced with a problem, her mind went blank and she couldn't think of anything. She looked a little frustrated and felt like she had wasted her life.

"What are you thinking about? You've done a great job. I've only just regained a little strength." Su Chenhao patted her head to comfort her. "I'm your man. No matter what happens, I'll always put you first. You have to believe that I'm capable enough to protect you."
