"Who is it!" Su Chenhao shouted at the gate.

The knocking on the door lessened, but continued.

Su Chenhao walked to the door and opened it, only to see a woman twice his size standing there.

"Who should I look for?"

The fat woman was taken aback at first; the man who came out was really good-looking. She only regained her senses after a few seconds.

"Your child injured my son, how do you plan to settle this?"

"What?" Su Chenhao turned to look at his younger brother. What had he done outside?

However, he believed in his younger brother, who would never have hit someone if the other party hadn't provoked him.

Su Chenqiu put down his chopsticks and walked to the door. Upon seeing the woman's face, he immediately recognized her as the mother of the boy who had provoked him.

"What did your son tell you? He lost a three-on-one fight, how dare he show his face at the door?"

"You brat! How dare you hit someone and still think you're right?" The fat woman put her hands on her hips. She was a butcher who slaughtered pigs and had never lost an argument.

"Brother, I did get into a fight. They wanted to steal my firecrackers, and if I didn't fight back, it would be three against one." Su Chenqiu explained with his head down. No matter what, it was wrong of him to let trouble come knocking on his door during the New Year.

"It's not your fault!" Qiao Xiaoni, acting as a protector, pulled Su Chenqiu behind her. "Sister-in-law, it was your son who provoked me, so my brother fought back. If you want to make a big deal out of this, then we'll go to the police station to settle it."

"You're making me unhappy during the New Year, and I'm making you unhappy too. This matter absolutely needs to be settled."

The plump woman had considered many possibilities, but she never expected the other party to suggest going to the police station. That was a no-go; she was known for causing trouble, having already been implicated in numerous arguments. Going there during the Lunar New Year holiday could easily land her in jail for several days!

Thinking it over, she softened her tone: "My son was beaten and sent back to his room. He's lying in bed and can't get up. Regardless of whose fault it is, she is the victim, and you can't just ignore it."

"Are you here to ask for medical expenses?" Qiao Xiaoni said angrily as she stepped forward. "You said your son is not feeling well, and I'll say my brother is not feeling well."

If we need to go to the hospital for a checkup, how about we go together and split the cost?

The plump woman said, "How can you talk like that, young lady? Your brother is perfectly fine, isn't he standing here perfectly fine? My son has been lying in bed since he got home, and he still hasn't gotten up!" Footsteps came from behind her as soon as she finished speaking.

"Mom, come home with me, I'm fine." Guo Taotao said loudly, then ran a few more steps until he reached the door and stopped.

"Didn't you just tell me you couldn't get up?" The plump woman was a little embarrassed, saying her son couldn't get up at home. Then he showed up; wasn't this a slap in the face?

"Mom, I'm begging you, please come back with me!" Guo Taotao had never been so humiliated. He hadn't intentionally told his mother about the fight; he only did so when she was desperate. He never expected her to come downstairs and cause trouble. It was utterly shameful.

"You brat!" The plump woman trembled with anger. Her son had already said so much; if she stayed any longer, who knew what that little brat might say? Thinking this, she pulled her son and turned to leave without saying another word to them.

As Qiao Xiaoni watched them slink away, she called out to them, "We will not be responsible for anything that happens after tonight."
