What happens to the future when humanity loses its imagination?
That slogan created a sensation during the summer of 1984.
Back then, computers couldn't support Chinese input and co...
After saying that, the man named Lü Fei made a gesture, asking Tim Berners-Lee to follow him.
“Okay.” Tim Berners-Lee nodded.
"Tim Berners-Lee..."
“Mr. Lu, you can just call me Berners-Lee.”
"Okay, Berners-Lee, would you like to go back to the hotel, or go to the company first and meet with the boss?"
"It's still early, let's go meet the boss first. I've admired him for a long time; he's one of the most outstanding geniuses of our time."
"OK."
The two quickly got into a black Mercedes.
As Lü Fei drove, he introduced Shanghai to Tim Berners-Lee.
Tim Berners-Lee looked out the car window at the scenery and couldn't help but feel a little shocked.
Shanghai is bustling with traffic and towering skyscrapers, presenting itself as a modern metropolis.
There were many construction sites underway. Tim Berners-Lee lost count of how many he saw along the way. This scene was something you would never see in the UK or any other country.
“Shanghai is developing so fast!” Tim Berners-Lee couldn’t help but exclaim.
Lu Fei smiled and said proudly, "Yes, Shanghai is indeed developing very fast. It changes every day. If you don't see it for a year or two, you might not even recognize the place you used to live in!"
Before long, the car stopped at the entrance of Wujiang Group.
After parking the car, Lü Fei took Tim Berners-Lee upstairs.
...
Zhao Ye is still working on it.
Liu Yinyin walked to his side and whispered, "Boss, Tim Berners-Lee is here."
"Okay, I understand. Bring him to my office!" Zhao Ye replied, his eyes never leaving the monitor, his hands still rapidly typing on the keyboard, writing code.
"Okay." Upon hearing this, Liu Yinyin turned and walked out the door.
A short while later, she came in with Tim Berners-Lee.
Knock knock knock!
"Boss, Mr. Tim Berners-Lee is here!" Liu Yinyin called out loudly.
Upon hearing this, Zhao Ye immediately stood up, smiled, and walked towards Tim Berners-Lee.
"Bernas Lee, welcome to Wujiang Group!"
"Boss, hello! It's an honor to join Wujiang Group!" Tim Berners-Lee quickly shook hands and greeted him.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the two sat on the sofa and began to chat.
Tim Berners-Lee mainly asked about technology, and Zhao Ye answered them one by one.
Zhao Ye was actually very excited about Tim Berners-Lee joining the team.
Tim Berners-Lee comes from an extraordinary background. His parents were involved in the construction of the world's first commercial computer, the Manchester 1, and the family atmosphere had a profound influence on his later career.
He himself graduated from Oxford University, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics with first-class honors.
In his previous life, Tim Berners-Lee had many titles: he was a British computer scientist, the inventor of the World Wide Web, the 2016 Turing Award winner, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Technology, and the founding chairman and senior researcher of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT.
In short, it's incredibly awesome.
However, this incredibly powerful figure appeared extremely humble in front of Zhao Ye at this moment, and showed great admiration for him.
"Boss, you are a true genius! The emergence of the World Wide Web will change the entire world. It has brought revolutionary changes to the exchange and dissemination of global information, opening the door to convenient access to information for people."
The Internet will no longer be the exclusive domain of a few computer experts; in the future, countless ordinary people will be able to use it to access information resources, enabling people around the world to communicate with each other on an unprecedented scale!
Tim Berners-Lee remarked from the bottom of his heart that his understanding of [the subject] was extremely profound, which greatly surprised Zhao Ye, who was sitting opposite him.
As soon as he finished speaking, Tim Berners-Lee asked, "By the way, boss, what kind of work do you plan to assign me next?"
Zhao Ye thought for a moment and said, "Continue to improve and develop the browser!"
The World Wide Web has been invented, and Zhao Ye's title as the "Father of the World Wide Web" is undeniable.
A browser developed based on the World Wide Web can naturally be outsourced to someone else.
Tim Berners-Lee is a researcher at Wujiang Group, and his research results are equivalent to those of Wujiang Group and Zhao Ye.
“Okay, I really enjoy this job!” Tim Berners-Lee replied with a smile, clearly satisfied and excited.
Zhao Ye then walked to his desk, rummaged through the drawers, and finally took out a document.
“Bernas Lee, here are some of my ideas for a browser. Take them back and study them carefully.”
Zhao Ye didn't intend to use any particularly advanced browser technology; the browser development would be entirely handled by Tim Berners-Lee. Zhao Ye simply made a few requests, such as the browser must support text and images, have a back button, an advance button, refresh and reload functionality, a URL input box, a website bookmarks list, and browser zoom functionality...
Besides a user-friendly interface, an SSL protocol also needs to be developed. SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer, which provides relatively secure protection for credit cards and personal information.
The reason why Netscape Navigator was able to succeed in its previous form was twofold: first, its user interface was simple to use, and second, it was the first to adopt the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) network security protocol.
