Chapter Fourteen: Black Market Transactions (2/2)

"Take it to the back of this yard, can a little girl like you manage to move it?" Lin Jin quickly replied, "No problem, comrade!"

Don't call me comrade anymore, call me Uncle Du, and call him Uncle Lin.

"Alright!" Lin Jin said goodbye to the two men and hurriedly hired a car to transport the vegetables from her spatial storage to the backyard of the supply and marketing cooperative. Uncle Du praised the fresh vegetables, saying that if she needed any more vegetables, she could go directly to the flour mill to find him, as he was the purchasing agent for the flour mill!

After saying goodbye to Uncle Du, Lin Jin wanted to find a way to sell medicinal herbs. She walked and observed, but there were no stalls selling things on the main street. If there were, it was two people secretly trading, and someone was carrying things into a very secluded alley, looking back as they walked. Lin Jin found it a bit funny. Wasn't this just a case of "the ground is not covered up"?

This county town wasn't as strictly regulated as the big cities. Lin Jin went to a secluded spot, entered her spatial dimension, changed her clothes, put on a mask and hat, and then followed the woman who had gone into the alley. Several people were trading in the alley. Just as she was about to ask, someone pulled her aside and asked, "Comrade, do you want some eggs? No coupons needed, 10 cents each." Lin Jin shook her head; she was looking to buy medicinal herbs. Turning her head, she saw a thin man staring at her. She walked over and lowered her voice, saying, "I want to see your boss." The thin man seemed surprised, thinking, "This person is so well-covered up; it's hard to tell if he's male or female. He's already looking for the boss—could something be wrong?"

The man shook his head, "I don't know what you're talking about?" and was about to leave when Lin Jin added, "I have some medicinal herbs. I wonder if your boss would be interested?"

The man thought for a moment and said, "Come with me."

The man gently pushed open the heavy iron gate, making a dull thud. He led Lin Jin slowly into the mysterious courtyard. High walls surrounded the courtyard, seemingly isolating it from the noise and chaos of the outside world. Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the walls, forming golden beams that illuminated the mottled bricks on the ground.

In the center of the courtyard stood a man. Judging from the distance, he looked to be around 28 years old. He had a standard square face with well-defined features, giving him an air of determination and composure. However, what was most striking was the long scar above his right eyebrow, like a ferocious lightning bolt across his face, adding a touch of fierceness to his appearance.

Before Lin Jin could speak, the man broke the silence. His gaze was sharp as a hawk's, fixed on Lin Jin, and he said coldly, "You have medicinal herbs!" These four words struck the air like a heavy hammer, making people's hearts tremble.

Lin Jin replied, "Yes, ginseng, about two hundred years old." After she finished speaking, the man Meng De opened his eyes wide and said, "Are you sure it's two hundred years old?" Lin Jin quickly took out the ginseng and handed it to the man in front of her. The man glanced at it casually, but in that one glance, his eyes lit up instantly.

"How much?" the man asked directly.

Lin Jin had already made up her mind, and calmly replied, "1000 yuan."

Upon hearing the price, the man frowned slightly, then countered, "600, I'll take it."

Lin Jin's eyes darted around, and she smiled slyly, saying, "600 is fine, but I'll have to add a bicycle ticket on top!"

The man hesitated for a moment, seemingly weighing the pros and cons of the deal. However, he quickly nodded decisively and said, "Deal!" He then readily pulled out a wad of cash from his pocket, counted out 600 yuan, and handed it to Lin Jin, along with the precious bicycle ticket.

After the transaction was completed, the man looked at Lin Jin and said with a smile, "If you have any other good things in the future, you can bring them here, and I will buy them all."

Upon hearing this, Lin Jin's face lit up with joy, and he replied without hesitation, "Okay!" Then, he turned around and stepped out of the courtyard with a heart full of happiness, his steps so light that he seemed to be flying.
