Chapter Thirty-One: The Rumor Monger (1/2)

Lin Jin roughly knew who it was! She was the only one in the entire brigade who had a grudge against her!

The next day, Lin Jin went to the team leader's house after breakfast. The team leader's family was still eating. Seeing Lin Jin arrive, the team leader's wife quickly greeted him. "Little Lin, sit down and have something to eat," the team leader's wife said warmly. Lin Jin smiled and waved his hand, "Auntie, I've already eaten. I came today because I have something I want to talk to the team leader about." The team leader put down his chopsticks and wiped his mouth. "What is it? Go ahead." Lin Jin hesitated for a moment, then spoke up: "Team leader, some people in the village are deliberately slandering me. They're trying to ruin my reputation. I'm about to take the college entrance exam, and they're trying to distract me on purpose!"

"If the captain doesn't help me, I'll have to report it to the police." The captain frowned, glanced at his wife, and she quickly said, "I overheard a bit yesterday." The captain pondered for a moment, "Lin, you go back first. I'll investigate this matter thoroughly! Anyone who spreads rumors again will not be let off lightly." Lin Jin nodded. At this moment, the captain's wife said from the side, "Little Lin, your medical skills are good, it's inevitable that some people are jealous. Don't take it to heart." Lin Jin smiled, "I know, Auntie." Lin Jin knew that the captain could only suppress the rumors; if he wanted to punish those who spread them, he would have to do it himself!

The team leader addressed the issue in a meeting that very day, warning those spreading rumors! The rumors quickly disappeared! Lin Jin brought gifts to express her gratitude to the team leader!

Night fell, and all was silent. Lin Jin sat quietly in her small house, patiently waiting for everyone to drift into a deep sleep. Time passed slowly, and finally, the entire courtyard was immersed in tranquil darkness, without a sound.

After confirming that there was no further movement around her, Lin Jin, like a nimble cat, quietly opened the door and tiptoed out of the courtyard. She carefully avoided any places that might make noise, winding her way along a secluded path. This path was little known; only someone as familiar with the terrain as Lin Jin could find it so easily.

Before long, Lin Jin arrived at the back of Accountant Liu's house. The courtyard wall wasn't very high, and for the agile Lin Jin, climbing over it was a piece of cake. She slightly bent her knees, leaped up, grabbed the top of the wall with both hands, and easily flipped over into the yard.

Without pausing after landing, Lin Jin swiftly slipped into Accountant Liu and his wife's room like a ghost. In the dim moonlight, the two could be seen lying peacefully asleep in bed. Lin Jin pulled two slender silver needles from her bosom, and with a flick of her wrist, the two needles flew like bolts of lightning towards the two men on the bed, accurately piercing their acupoints on their heads.

Almost the instant the silver needles entered their bodies, Accountant Liu and his wife fainted without even a groan. However, Lin Jin's actions did not stop. She took out two more silver needles and quickly pricked Accountant Liu's hands twice each, then inserted another silver needle into below Accountant Liu's wife's throat.

After completing all this, Lin Jin nodded in satisfaction. With a wave of her hand, the silver needles that had been inserted into the three people seemed to be summoned and flew back into her hand. Then, Lin Jin flashed into the room of Tian Guixiang and her husband, skillfully beginning to implement her plan. Her movements were swift and light, methodically collecting all the valuables in the room. After completing this series of operations, she didn't even pause, turning and heading straight for Accountant Liu's house.

And so, the night passed in the blink of an eye. As the dawn's light gently touched the earth, Accountant Liu and his family awoke from their sleep. However, they were stunned by the scene before them—the once neat and tidy house was now empty and a mess. Accountant Liu was horrified to find that his hands had become numb and painful, as if he had lost all feeling; even the pen he was used to holding was now difficult to grip. His poor wife was even worse off; her throat burned as if it were on fire, and speaking was a luxury she could only dream of.
