University student Qin Xiaoyu died with deep regrets, betrayed by a scumbag. Reborn, she finds herself in the body of a 25-year-old young widow with depression and two children, living in the 1980s...
She knew exactly how she rented the house; one shouldn't forget their roots. There was another thing she wanted to take care of today. The promise to give Commander Wang and Zhou Xing's mother VIP membership cards was only verbal. Later, when Commander Wang came to get his hair done, she didn't charge him, but Zhou Xing's mother never came.
She also considered printing prepaid cards, but the printing industry wasn't very developed, and there were no private companies doing it, so making a card would be a lot of work. She simply found a mooncake package, cut out the side with the classic pattern, and made a VIP card in handwriting, even adding a number. After finishing, she felt something was missing. Looking up, she saw some plastic cases for student IDs on the table, so she put the card in them. Perfect! High-class.
Commander Wang had been waiting for quite a while, and when Qin Xiaoyu came down, she noticed that Commander Wang looked somewhat impatient.
"Aunt Wang, you must have been waiting impatiently. Here." Qin Xiaoyu handed over the card; Commander Wang was VIP number 0002.
"What's this?"
"Keep this card safe. It will serve you for life," Qin Xiaoyu said with a smile.
"Oh my, this must be a V-card, right? I'll keep it safe." Commander Wang beamed and walked with Qin Xiaoyu toward the military region.
The journey from the hairdressing school to the military region is a long detour, though the straight-line distance isn't far.
Zhou Xing opened the door. He probably didn't know Qin Xiaoyu was coming, so he was stunned when he saw her and even forgot to greet Aunt Wang.
"Master Qin, thank you so much for your trouble." Zhou Xing's mother was much more polite.
"Auntie, this is for you. Please come again in the future." Qin Xiaoyu presented the No. 0001 card with both hands.
"What is this? It's quite pretty." Zhou Xing's mother turned it over and over to look at it, but she couldn't figure it out.
"This is a V card. Take it, and you can get your hair done for free at Xiaoyu's shop in the future," Commander Wang hurriedly explained.
"Hehe, thank you so much." Zhou Xing's mother didn't seem too surprised, and just smiled faintly.
"What? I want one too! Mom, give it to me!" Zhou Yue rushed out of the house. She had gained weight in the month since she got married, and her eyes looked even smaller.
"You silly child! Go and call your father downstairs."
"Is there any hot water? Let me warm my hands first." Qin Xiaoyu's hands were a little frozen.
"There's hot water in the bathroom inside, go ahead." Commander Wang was very familiar with the Zhou family.
Qin Xiaoyu went into the bathroom, put some hot water in the sink, soaked her hands in it, and suddenly looked up to see Zhou Xing standing outside the half-open door.
"This is the first time I've seen you fight. Your fighting strength is quite formidable; you're not to be underestimated," Zhou Xing said coldly. Qin Xiaoyu understood that he was referring to the incident with Jing Tian that day, and she gave a cold laugh.
"Heh, why be polite to someone like that?"
“I warned Wenwen, but she wouldn’t listen to me,” Zhou Xing sighed.
"Really? Looks like you know your friend quite well. But it's nothing, everyone's been in love with a couple of jerks when they were young." Qin Xiaoyu's words startled Zhou Xing, his face turning inscrutable, his thoughts unreadable.
"There's no use saying all this. Just take good care of Wenwen." Zhou Xing paused for a moment before replying, but Zhou Yue suddenly appeared from behind.
What are you talking about?
"Let's talk about life," Qin Xiaoyu said expressionlessly.
"Life? You two are very familiar with it?"
"Not familiar with her," Qin Xiaoyu said.
“We’re very familiar with each other.” Zhou Xing said the two words almost at the same time as her.
Zhou Yue looked at them thoughtfully, without saying a word.
"We're very familiar with each other." Qin Xiaoyu wanted to give Zhou Xing some face.
"Not familiar." Zhou Xing had a sharp tongue and would interrupt.
There was no way to continue the conversation, so they went their separate ways, leaving Zhou Yue with her small eyes darting around, lost in thought.
From the first time Qin Xiaoyu met Commander Zhou, she had a problem with his slicked-back hair. "Such a nice old man, doesn't he get tired of having such long hair?"
Since the haircut was already ruined, someone had to take the blame. So she went all out and used clippers.
After she finished cutting Commander Zhou's hair, the whole family remained silent.
This elderly man with short, graying hair, exuding an imposing aura, seemed to have rediscovered the charisma he displayed on the battlefield.
Commander Zhou looked at himself in the mirror for a long time, nodded, and went upstairs without saying a word.
Qin Xiaoyu could sense that everyone around her secretly breathed a sigh of relief. It was as if she hadn't just gotten a haircut, but rather defused a bomb.
Zhou Yue saw Qin Xiaoyu off; Commander Wang had already gone shopping with Zhou Xing's mother.
"I'll come see you tomorrow and get my hair cut shorter," Zhou Yue said bluntly.
"Okay, anytime is fine." Qin Xiaoyu didn't dislike this kind of naive and innocent girl at all. To be honest, she and Zhou Xing's dad were much cuter than Zhou Xing and Zhou Xing's mom.
Zhou Yue didn't hold back at all; she went to the beauty school the very next day.
Qin Xiaoyu quickly discovered that Zhou Yue was easy to get along with. She was a girl who had been well protected since childhood. Her father's power was enough to build her an ivory cage. She was unaware of the dangers of the world and had never seen the malice of others. Therefore, she was innocent, straightforward, and didn't mince words. Sometimes she would hurt people directly, but those who knew her personality couldn't bear to blame her.
"This place is so nice! I'll come visit you whenever I have free time, okay?" Zhou Yue had been hanging out for most of the day and was very happy. She was newly married, and her husband had returned to his unit before their honeymoon was even over. She was alone at her parents' house and didn't have to work, so she was bored and didn't know what to do. Finding such a fun place, she immediately got Qin Xiaoyu hooked up with her. It was only because the hairdressing school was close to the military region that Zhou Yue was used to going there.
"Okay, welcome!" Qin Xiaoyu was worried that Zhou Yue might be neglected, so she made her a VIP card as well. Zhou Yue happily took it and left.
The school is gradually getting back on track, and Qin Xiaoyu can finally breathe a sigh of relief. With the Spring Festival just around the corner, she'll probably be able to take a few days off; this has been too exhausting.
These past few days, Tang Wenwen has been listless and unwilling to go home. She just comes here and sits in a daze whenever she has nothing to do. Qin Xiaoyu knows that it's no use trying to persuade her; this is something she has to deal with on her own.
Qin Xiaoyu's office was on the second floor, in the easternmost room. It had four large windows, two on the east wall and one each on the north and south sides. Standing on the south side, one could see over the barbed wire fence of the military compound and into the villa area. The outermost building, with the best sunlight, was Zhou Xing's home.
Looking out to the north, the courtyard is covered with a thick layer of snow. Several large trees have lost all their leaves, and the dry branches creak and groan in the wind. It's hard to say which one will survive the winter.
Suddenly, a group of people in the courtyard caught Qin Xiaoyu's attention. They were a dozen or so unfamiliar men, and judging from their attire, they didn't seem to be soldiers. Who were they? She hurriedly ran outside.
Suddenly, a large group of people entered, and the corridor was backlit, making it appear completely dark. Qin Xiaoyu felt a little dizzy.
She had no choice but to go and greet them. Even if a group of aliens came in, she would still have to go and greet them; she was the master.
