Chapter 362
The reason Ji Xingguo and his group are having dinner with these two families tonight is because this family invited them.
It's because his son is here today that he's introducing him to everyone.
So they specially asked the resort owner to prepare a large table and add more dishes so that the three families could eat together.
Throughout the entire meal, the young man stared at Ji Wanmei without any attempt to hide it, which made Ji Wanmei extremely nauseous.
Since the man knew that Ji Xingguo was not the owner of the farm, then it must be the short, dark-skinned middle-aged man who had been hospitably serving them and bringing them food who was the owner.
When the owner brought out a bowl of soup made from some kind of wild vegetable paste, it was so hot that it almost spilled out.
Fortunately, the owner managed to steady the soup bowl by supporting it with his palm.
Unfortunately, the spilled soup still managed to stain the arm of the young man sitting at the serving station.
This really angered the man.
He took off his glasses, angrily pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, and while disgustedly wiping the soup off his arm, he scolded the farm owner: "What's wrong with you! Can't you see there's someone here? You can't even hold a bowl of soup properly, so clumsy! Do you know how much this shirt of mine is worth?!"
The farm owner was a simple local man who was always very careful when receiving guests from big cities. He never expected that a bowl of soup would offend this new guest tonight, and he immediately felt very sorry and kept apologizing to him.
He kept apologizing, his attitude extremely humble and sincere.
But the young man remained defiant and arrogant.
It was his parents who, seeing the atmosphere at the dinner table had become awkward, stepped in to smooth things over, saying, "Oh, it's nothing serious. It's just a little bit of soup. We'll scrub it with dish soap and let it air dry, and it'll be fine."
"Mom, have you forgotten? This shirt was brought back for me by my uncle from Hong Kong last time. It's an export item; you can't buy it on the mainland at all," the young man said, frowning unhappily.
His mother said, "What else can we do? Do you expect the farm owner to accompany you? It's not easy for him to run a small business, and he can't afford to lose money. Forget it, I'll help you wash up when we get back to your room."
With these points discussed, the stalemate finally came to an end.
Ji Wanmei put down her chopsticks, slowly wiped her mouth, stood up and said to Ji Xingguo, "Dad, I'm done eating." She then nodded slightly to the others, "Please enjoy your meal."
Then she got up, left, and went.
Seeing her leave, the young man felt even more annoyed with the farm owner. It was all his fault for being so clumsy and making him look foolish in front of everyone.
Ji Wanmei returned to her room on the second floor and began packing her things.
Originally, her and her father's plan was that Ji Xingguo would go to meet his old friend tomorrow, Ji Wanmei would stay here for another day, and then Ji Xingguo would come to pick her up to go to Dali together.
But now Ji Wanmei has changed her mind.
Her good mood had been completely ruined by this arrogant man, and she didn't want to stay here a moment longer.
Ji Wanmei felt that she really disliked men who wore glasses, pretended to be refined but were actually uncultured. She felt an instinctive aversion to this type of man.
Not long after, maybe five minutes, Ji Xingguo also came upstairs.
"Why are you packing your things?"
Ji Wanmei turned to her father, shrugged, and said, "Do you really think I'd still be in the mood to stay here and play?"
At this point, Ji Wanmei began to mock her father, deliberately saying things to provoke him: "Didn't you get along quite well with that guy who was doing Tai Chi earlier? You acted like you wanted to adopt his son as your godson. Why didn't you chat with them more downstairs?"
Ji Xingguo was embarrassed and couldn't save face, but he still stubbornly said, "They're having a family reunion, what am I standing there for? We've finished eating, so it's best to leave as soon as possible."
Ji Wanmei couldn't allow him to evade the issue like that, and said, "Your Tai Chi friend was planning to introduce his son to me, wasn't he? In your opinion, Comrade Ji Xingguo, this young man should be promising, polite, and outstanding, right?"
Ji Xingguo glared at Ji Wanmei and raised his voice: "Nonsense! When did I say I would agree to you two getting to know each other? That was just their wishful thinking. I never agreed to it!"
"Besides, do you think your dad is that kind of person? Do you think just any Tom, Dick, or Harry is good enough for my precious daughter?"
What was the meaning behind showing off your daughter to others the other day?
Ji Wanmei stopped packing her luggage, put her hands in her pockets, and said, "Oh, I thought you liked the kind of young people who are hypocritical and refined on the surface, but actually bully the weak and fear the strong, are vain and love wealth, are self-righteous, and are also lazy. Just like Yang Zhiping."
Ji Xingguo was so angry he laughed: "You little girl, you've only met him once and you've already drawn so many conclusions?"
Ji Wanmei solemnly recounted, "When that person came in this afternoon, he saw the bed sheet blown to the ground by the wind and didn't even bother to pick it up. It was just a simple thing to do. Moreover, when he saw you, he assumed you were the local owner of this farm and looked down on you because of your status, without even greeting you. Doesn't this show that he is hypocritical and snobbish?"
Ji Xingguo listened attentively and gestured for Ji Wanmei to continue.
