the next day.
Ji Wanmei and her father left the villa early in the morning.
The family was excitedly planning to invite them to go hiking together, only to find that the other family had already left.
At the entrance of the ancient town, Ji Xingguo's friend sent a car to pick them up. After they got in the car, they left.
When they arrived at Ji Xingguo's old friend's place, they were warmly entertained for two days, and then they went to Dali Ancient City for a tour.
While in Dali, Ji Wanmei saw that the souvenir shop sold postcards of famous landmarks of the ancient city.
So she bought a ticket and couldn't wait to write Lei Tingjun a short but excited letter, telling him about the gains she had made on her trip to Yunnan.
"Lei Tingjun, I can't wait to tell you some good news: I've finally convinced my father to agree to let us be together after graduation. This is a good start. His agreement means you don't have to be so tense and restrained anymore, and it's allowed to keep in touch with me by writing. You didn't reply to my last letter, but you must reply to me this time. I will return to school three days early at the end of August to await your reply. — Ji Wanmei. August 5th, 1989, 10:00 AM."
Ji Wanmei mailed the postcard from the tourist post office in Dali.
Their trip to Yunnan finally came to an end, and they returned to Pingquan County by train.
Ji Wanmei repaired her relationship with her father, which finally made him begin to change his prejudice against Lei Tingjun, and everything was moving in a positive direction.
After returning to Pingquan County, the high-temperature summer vacation at Dongfang Factory also came to an end, and the factory resumed operation.
Ji Wanmei made a special trip to the factory to see Zhu Shuangyan and see how well she was adapting to her work there.
Zhu Shuangyan started working in the export department last month. After nearly a month of adaptation, she now looks like a skilled office worker, wearing the factory's work uniform and sitting in the office.
The export sales department involves a lot of inter-departmental collaboration and has a lot of complex tasks, so staff members are required to be proficient in certain office operations.
When Ji Wanmei arrived, Zhu Shuangyan was studying how to use a fax machine.
"Press this key, and the document will appear." Ji Wanmei walked over and pressed two buttons on the fax machine.
"Wanmei? When did you get back!" Zhu Shuangyan looked at her with surprise. "I heard you went out to escape the summer heat?"
“Yes, I went to Yunnan and just got back yesterday.” Ji Wanmei pulled up a chair and sat down, placing a small paper bag on her desk. “Here, these are souvenirs I brought back from Yunnan. They’re all handicrafts from the local ethnic minorities. They’re for you.”
"You're always so thoughtful. I'll accept it then. Are you free today? How about we have lunch together?"
"Sure, that's exactly what I was thinking of coming over to have dinner with you," Ji Wanmei said with a smile.
Zhu Shuangyan smiled as she observed Ji Wanmei's expression and said, "You seem to be in a good mood since you came back from your trip."
Ji Wanmei smiled mysteriously: "Yes, I've finally resolved something that's been weighing on my mind for a long time, and I'm in a really good mood now."
"You can continue working. I won't bother you any longer. I'll come back to chat with you after lunch." Ji Wanmei said to Zhu Shuangyan after glancing at the other employees in the office.
Ji Xingguo was in the factory office. It was a separate office, and Ji Wanmei used to play in Ji Xingguo's office when she came to the factory as a child.
However, since Jinwan wasn't there to see Ji Xingguo today, he didn't go to his office.
However, as she passed by the offices on this floor, she saw Yang Changhua's office through the window.
Yang Changhua sat calmly at his desk, sipping tea from a valuable purple clay teapot. As he lifted the teacup, a gold wristwatch was faintly visible through the rolled-up cuffs of his shirt.
Ji Wanmei saw this and a mocking sneer appeared on her lips.
Perhaps it was because Ji Wanmei's gaze was too unbearable to ignore, but Yang Changhua, who was drinking tea, seemed to sense something and looked up to see Ji Wanmei standing outside the window.
He paused for a moment, seemingly a little surprised, but reacted quickly, immediately putting down his teacup, getting up and walking over, smiling and saying, "Oh, it's Wanmei, here to see your father?"
Ji Wanmei composed herself, still maintaining the demeanor of a sensible and polite obedient girl, and smiled at Yang Changhua: "Yes, Uncle Yang, I'm busy."
If you want someone to die, first make them go mad.
Ji Wanmei smiled outwardly, but her heart was cold. You Yang family father and son, these last few days are the only time you can have a peaceful life.
Yang Changhua hadn't seen Ji Wanmei for almost a year since he last met her last time.
It's often said that a girl's appearance changes drastically as she grows up, and that's certainly true.
In just one year, Yang Changhua felt that the young woman in front of him had become increasingly dazzling and had an outstanding temperament.
If in the past Yang Changhua thought that Ji Wanmei was just a little white flower that Ji Xingguo had protected and raised, innocent, naive and easy to fool.
This kind of innocent, beautiful, and only son in her family, whose father is powerful and influential, is arguably Yang Changhua's most satisfactory choice for a daughter-in-law.
Unfortunately, her son Yang Zhiping was not good enough and failed to win her heart. The blind date that he had finally managed to persuade Ji Xingguo to agree to fell through.
Later, his son Yang Zhiping caused such a scandal, making Yang Changhua even more embarrassed.
When Yang Changhua saw Ji Wanmei again today, he suddenly realized that it was a real pity that his son, Yang Zhiping, had missed out on such an outstanding girl.
