Chapter 3 Stockpiling

Less than a minute after hanging up, Gu Qiang called back.

"Xiao Zhao, I definitely want the shares. My brother, you, and Dad founded this company, and I don't want to hand it over to outsiders. It's more reassuring to keep it in the hands of our own family. I think Zhi Zhi and Yan Lin think the same way."

The construction team we had contacted in advance was already waiting outside the residential area.

The reserved houses in Jinxiu Leiting are on the 17th and 18th floors, each floor is about 300 square meters. Originally, Song Zhao planned to use one floor as a wedding room and the other floor for her brother-in-law so that the siblings could live closer together. Now it has come in handy.

As the three of them discussed yesterday, they decided to combine the two floors in the room, but separate them with the best quality security door. The upstairs room will be where the three of them live, with two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a gym, and a home theater/game room. They need some entertainment facilities to prevent people from becoming depressed over time.

The remaining space will be converted into storage rooms. The downstairs area will be converted into a growing room (greenhouse) and warehouse. This way, we can store more things at home and grow some vegetables to eat.

All walls inside and outside the building will be reinforced with a layer of heat-insulating and explosion-proof material, and all glass will be replaced with the thickest bulletproof glass. The floors and roof of both floors will also be reinforced and renovated, and underfloor heating will be installed to prevent anyone from desperately trying to break down the walls from downstairs or the roof.

In addition, a door leading to the rooftop was reserved. Both Song Zhao and Gu Yanzhi have pilot licenses, so they can fly directly away from the rooftop in case of an emergency.

Song Zhao also had the renovation workers make two tempered glass doors according to the width and height of the stairwell and leave them in the house so that if things got messy inside the building, the path leading to the 17th floor could be locked.

Construction teams rarely encounter clients with such strange demands. They insist on using only the best and most durable materials, requiring protection against impacts, bullets, bombs, fire, and water – practically everything – and demand completion within a month. However, since the client pays a substantial sum, the construction team won't complain and will simply follow their instructions, perhaps grumbling a little about the client's oddities in private.

After finalizing the house renovation arrangements, the three of them split up and began stocking up on goods according to the plan they had discussed the day before. In reality, Gu Yanlin was separated, while Gu Yanzhi and Song Zhao were still stocking up together. At this point, Song Zhao didn't want Gu Yanzhi to leave his sight at all.

After they separated, Gu Yanzhi and Song Zhao first rented two large warehouses in the suburbs and sent the warehouse addresses to Gu Yanlin. All the stockpiled items were first delivered to the warehouses by the merchants, and Gu Yanzhi would store them all in his space when no one was around.

Then the two went to the largest wholesale market in City C.

50 tons of rice, 50 tons of wheat flour, 10,000 jin of soybean oil, various dried vegetable packages, 1 ton of dried meat, 10,000 bags of instant noodles in various flavors, etc.

In order not to arouse the suspicion of the market owners, the two lied and said that they were in the export business and that they bought these things to export abroad and make money from foreigners.

The two men arranged for the shop owners to deliver the supplies to their suburban warehouse in batches over several days to facilitate receiving the goods. The shop owners were very welcoming of the two men's purchasing, and even offered them the best discounts, after all, these were big customers, and one order could feed them for half a year.

However, fearing they would attract attention, the two did not purchase too many items at this wholesale market. Instead, they planned to travel to several cities to gather all the necessary goods.

After placing their order at the wholesale market, it was already past 3 PM. Both were starving, so they found a reasonably rated hot pot restaurant nearby and ate their fill. Then, under the pretext of providing employee benefits, they ordered 200 portions of various dishes and hot pot base from the owner. Because of the large quantity and their urgency, the owner closed for the afternoon and evening and gathered all his employees to pack the food for the two of them.
